Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget. The sequel to a cinematic masterpiece. [ENG+ESP]

Hello, fellow movie fans. Today I want to tell you my experiences and opinions after watching Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget. This time the movie returns as a sequel that takes the chicken story to new levels. The production of this movie is much more meticulous and bigger than the previous one. The plot unfolds just when it seems like it was all over at the end of the previous film. As we are shown Rocky and Ginger took their relationship to the next level, but it is clear from the beginning that Ginger is still affected by the events leading up to her escape. While the film respects the personalities of the characters, others appear with a sort of mix of their parents' personalities. An example of this is Molly who has Rocky's attitude and Ginger's spirit. Bella Ramsey gives Molly an air almost similar to that of Ellie in The Last of Us. This makes her stand out and the events of the story can feel like it's Molly's fault, but this is one of those stories where the actions of the parents are also part of the factor that unleashes the events.

Hola, amigos fanáticos del cine. Hoy quiero contarles mis experiencias y opiniones luego de ver Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget. Esta vez la película vuelve como una secuela que lleva a la historia de las gallinas a nuevos niveles. La producción de esta película es mucho más meticulosa y grande que la anterior. La trama se desarrolla justo cuando parece que todo había terminado en el final de la película anterior. Según nos muestran Rocky y Ginger llevaron su relación al próximo nivel, pero queda claro desde el principio que Ginger aún sigue afectada por los eventos previos a su escapada. Mientras la película respeta la personalidad de los personajes, aparecen otros con una especie de mezcla de las personalidades de sus padres. Ejemplo de esto es Molly la cual tiene la actitud de Rocky y el espíritu de Ginger. Bella Ramsey le da a Molly un aire casi parecido al de Ellie en The Last of Us. Esto hace que destaque y que los eventos de la historia se pueden sentir como si fuera culpa de Molly, pero esta es una de esas historias donde las acciones de los padres también son parte del factor que desata los sucesos.

The atmosphere of the film is more technological and there are moments reminiscent of Mission Impossible. There is a certain humorous touch, but the social allegory of the previous film is not lost. Even so, the concept of the chickens wanting to confront the food chain because they feel that being food for humans is an act of oppression against it remains intact. From beginning to end, the idea of the chickens becoming a resistance or rebel group is given, giving a nod to that social allegory that the original film has. For me, Dawn Of The Nugget is an acceptable sequel that expands this story, even though it seems that the conclusion of the first film was definitive. It is clear that sometimes there is something more after the "Happily Ever After" and that they are not always the definitive conclusion.

El ambiente de la película es más tecnológico y hay momentos que recuerdan a Misión Imposible. Hay cierto toque humorístico, pero no se pierde esa alegoría social que tenía la película anterior. Aun así, se mantiene intacto el concepto de las gallinas queriendo enfrentarse a la cadena alimenticia porque sienten que ser alimento para los humanos es un acto de opresión contra ella. De principio a fin, se da la idea de que las gallinas se vuelvan una resistencia o grupo rebelde, dando un guiño a esa alegoría social que tiene la película original. Para mí Dawn Of The Nugget es una aceptable secuela que expande esta historia, por más que pareciera que la conclusión de la primera película fue definitiva. Es claro que a veces existe algo más después del “Felices para siempre” y que no siempre son la conclusión definitiva.

That said, it should also be noted that it is not a bad movie, it is not a disaster or an unnecessary sequel, but it is not as good as the first one, either. But that doesn't take away the fact that its plot becomes repetitive. And it's not that I don't like that kind of story, but the 1st movie is so good, so perfect, so raw and cruel that when you compare them you realize that this one doesn't even reach its heels even though it's not bad. I will always say it, Chicken Run is one of the best stop animation movies ever, as well as an obvious reference to World War II and the concentration camps. That they made an animated film that touches on these kinds of themes is something I admire. I have a strong belief that just because a movie is animated doesn't mean it's just for kids and this movie is a very clear example.

Dicho esto, también hay que tener en cuenta que no es una mala película, no es un desastre o una secuela innecesaria, pero tampoco logro ser tan buena como la 1ra. Y es que muchas veces sucede que se quedan cortos o que el público crea demasiadas expectativas. Pero eso no quita el hecho de que su trama llega a ser repetitiva. Y no es que no me gusten ese tipo de historias, pero es que la 1ra película es tan buena, tan perfecta, tan cruda y cruel que cuando comparas te das cuenta de que esta no le llega ni a los talones a pesar de que no es mala. Siempre lo diré, Chicken Run es una de las mejores películas de stop animación de la historia, a la vez que una obvia referencia a la 2da guerra mundial y a los campos de concentración. Que hayan hecho una película animada que toque este tipo de temas es algo que admiro. Yo tengo una fuerte creencia de que porque una película sea animada no significa que sea solo para niños y esta película es un clarísimo ejemplo.

By way of summary, I can tell you that the sequel is good in general. The story is not the best, but it adapts to past events and the cinematics follow the same pattern. Unfortunately, the message of why Mrs. Tweedy marrying different men is, in my opinion, a very negative one. On the other hand, the chickens magically pulling out costumes to perform the rescue was very strange as well. From there on, the film does the job, even if the characters involved in it are relatively few. Can you watch it? Yes. Do I recommend it? Maybe. It's a tricky thing when it comes to this type of film that some see as a children's film and others like me can discern its hidden messages.

A modo de resumen les puedo decir que la secuela es buena en general. La historia no es la mejor, pero se adapta a los hechos pasados y la cinemática sigue el mismo patrón. Desafortunadamente, el mensaje del porqué la Sra. Tweedy, se casa con diferentes hombres, considero que es muy negativo. Por otro lado, el que las gallinas sacaran mágicamente indumentaria para realizar el rescate, fue algo muy extraño también. De allí en más, pues la película cumple con el acometido, aunque los personajes que hayan participado en ella sean relativamente pocos. ¿Se puede ver? Sí. ¿La recomiendo? Tal vez. Es algo complicado cuando se trata de este tipo de películas que algunos ven como cine infantil y otros como yo saben discernir sus mensajes ocultos.
