Movie Review: Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom. [ENG+ESP]

The year is coming to an end, so there are few pellicles left to see, but I think Aqaman and The Lost Kingdom is one of the ones I have to see before the end of the year. Not that I'm a big fan, but my wife loves this actor and I've read that this movie has very good special effects and has the participation of great actors like Patrick Wilson and Dolph Lundgren.

Ya se acaba el año, así que quedan pocas pellicas por ver, pero creo que Aqaman y El Reino perdido es una de la que tengo que ver antes de que acaba el año. No es que sea un gran fan, pero a mi esposa le encanta este actor y he leído que esta película trae consigo muy buenos efectos especiales y cuenta con la participación de actorazos como son Patrick Wilson y Dolph Lundgren.

As I already imagined, Mera's character will not appear as much as in the first part due to all the hate that has generated because of the trial between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp. Even so, we can see her in some scenes playing her role as queen, mother and right hand of the current king of Atlantis. It's a shame what happened and I really think it's time to overcome the past, because it is very sad that the performance of an actor is strongly obstructed by family problems.

Como ya me lo imaginaba, el personaje de Mera no aparecerá tanto como en la primera parte debido a todo el hate que ha generado a causa del juicio entre Amber Heard y Johnny Depp. Aun así, la podemos ver en algunas escenas representando su papel de reina, madre y mano derecha del actual rey de Atlantis. Es una lástima lo sucedido y en verdad creo que es hora de superar lo pasado, pues es muy triste que el desempeño de un actor se vea fuertemente obstruido por problemas de índole familiar.

In every movie there is something that stood out to me and that is that the scenes of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Black Manta, stand out above the others. And it's not that they just stand out, it's like they have more intensity. This perhaps has more logic in the fact that as such his character is crucial to this story, since without his intervention there would be no second part, but well, I think they gave him a pretty strong participation. Although I must say that the woman who accompanies Black Manta as the main henchwoman wanted to gain prominence with her current form and for me she got the opposite, because that character seemed to me something bizarre in the style of Italian mafia or something like that.

En toda película hay algo que me llamó la atención y es que las escenas de Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Manta Negra, sobresalen por encima de las otras. Y no es que simplemente sobresalgan, es como que tienen más intensidad. Esto quizá tiene más lógica en el hecho de que como tal su personaje es crucial para esta historia, ya que sin su intervención no hubiera segunda parte, pero bueno, creo que le dieron una participación bastante fuerte. Aunque debo decir que la mujer que acompaña a Manta Negra como secua principal como que quería ganar protagonismo con su forma de actual y para mí que consiguió todo lo contrario, pues ese personaje me pareció algo bizarro al estilo mafia italiana o algo así.

Speaking of acting, there is a huge but in Momoa's performance, since I don't understand that habit he has of adding a touch of humor to everything. I understand that it's part of his charismatic way of being, but it's that in many occasions it borders on the uncomfortable, as there are movies to laugh and others to be serious and cry. With Momoa it's as if these lines don't exist. And I'm not criticizing this because I like to have fun, but I realize that many of the jokes in the film are kind of forced and the cockroach joke, although it seems funny, I really think it was too much.

Hablando de actuación hay un enorme pero en el desempeño de Momoa, ya que no entiendo ese hábito que tiene de agregarle un toque de humor a todo. Entiendo que eso sea parte de su carismática forma de ser, pero es que en muchas ocasiones roza lo incómodo, pues hay películas para reír y otras para estar serios y llorar. Con Momoa es como si estas líneas no existieran. Y no es que critique esto pue a mí me gusta divertirme, pero me doy cuenta de que muchos de los chistes de la película están como forzaos y la broma de la cucaracha, aunque parezca divertida, de verdad creo que sobraba.

In short, I think it's a great movie worth seeing and many will love it, but others will criticize it senselessly just because of the character Mera. But well, if you ask me, I recommend watching the movie, as it is well made and can make us have a good time.

En resumen, creo que es un peliculón que merece la pena ver y muchos amaran, pero otros criticaran sin sentido solo por culpa del personaje Mera. Pero bueno, si me lo preguntan, recomiendo ver la película, ya que está bien echa y puede hacernos pasar un buen rato.
