Runway 34; Movie Review!
A racy and pacy movie, I literally felt myself seated and shivering in this almost ill-fated flight. How would you feel aboard a plane if the crew announces extreme bad weather conditions, zero visibility, a pilot who's probably consumed alcohol and could be anything between drunk and sober. I was freaking out all the time, digging my nails into the sofa! The panicky and the tensed moments until the flight hits runway '34, is better left to the imagination.
This is not the first mid-air thriller I have watched but....but...but never have I felt this kind of anxiety and edge-of-the-seat feeling.
Summary of the plot.
Runway 34 is an Indian thriller starring Ajay Devgn and Amitabh Bachan. It revolves around a flight in distress and its dramatic landing under very severe weather conditions. The Skyline 777's flight from Dubai to Kochi was that of excruciating turbulence as Vikrant meticulously pilots the plane suspended in mid-air, 35000 feet above Sea level, with 150 people on board. With zero visibility, it was a near impossible situation but Captain Vikrant Khanna (Ajay Devgn), the super intelligent and overconfident pilot makes a very risky decision to execute a landing attempt, using his instinct and experience. He successfully lands, with a photographic memory and "with eyes virtually closed".
Ultimately, he lands the plane safely, but this deviation from the standard protocol became a controversy. Narayan Vedant (Amitabh Bachchan), a very efficient officer investigates Vikrant, raising issues of recklessness.
The first half focuses on the actual incident in the plane, while the second half centres around the investigation that took place afterwards, in a court room drama.
Actors' performance
The film is a well crafted which stands out, with its blend of gripping mid air tension and great cinematography. Ajay Devgn finished me with his action and his amazing acting skills, Amitabh always delivers like the star he is. Infact all the actors gave an outstanding performance, I doff my hat!
I really was so content with hitting the "PLAY" button so I rate it a 9/10
