Movie Review: A Tribe Called Judah

Have you ever watched a movie and all you have in your mind was how you could watch and rewatch the movie all over again? It's been a while since I watched the movie and since our holiday would be coming to a stop as my exam is around the corner, I decided to use the opportunity to watch this particular movie I have been hearing about.

The reviews from others were intriguing, so when I had the opportunity to watch it, I grabbed it with two hands. The title of the movie showed the much job that the producer and director of the movie put into this movie because it is enticing and anyone would want to watch it. Then, the blockbuster, from YouTube and Instagram showed that the movie was a must-watch, and yeah, I eventually did watch the movie.

The funny thing is I didn't watch the movie alone, my neighbours joined in the movie, and from the look on their faces and the way they spoke, I could tell that they all enjoyed the movie.

This movie is one of the movies where you would cry, laugh, and cry-laugh, and at the end of the day, the actors were exceptional and they acted their parts accurately and exceptionally beautifully.

Funke Akindele is one of the best actresses, movie directors, and producers in Nigeria and so far so good, her movies have made waves, and people are talking about her exceptional character in the Nigeria industry, she knows how to kill a character, she knows how to interpret her script when she is on set and whenever she is the producer of a particular movie, the personalities she brings together to make her movie, puts in their best. Currently, the movie is hitting a Billion Naira at the Nigeria Office box and that tells a lot about the movie.

A Tribe Called Judah was Released in December 2023, it is a comedic drama that talks about the story of a single mother with five sons from five different men not because she was promiscuous but because life happened to her, two from the East, one from the North and two from the West.

The mother falls ill and the finances to cater for her illness can not be met, so they are faced with financial hardship, in a bid to save their dying mother, they hatch a plan to rob a mall but unfortunately, their plans take an unexpected turn when they another group of robbers decides to rob that mall that same night. Things get hot and rough and their only option is to carry what they can carry and leave the Mall but at the end of the day, they lose their eldest brother to a gunshot

The five siblings although from five different fathers and with different personalities, still had love, and unity among themselves, and this speaks a lot about the day-to-day sibling rivalry we get to see daily.

I rate the movie 7/10, It is a comedy-drama so, it is worth the watch.
