Bridgdeton movie review

Greetings,

Bridgdeton is a movie series with six episodes in season one. Each episode shows the reach culture of the great British monarchy system of government of some centuries ago.

The story might be a bit difficult to understand if one is not a lover of history and good literature work.

The story is centered around a king who is expected to take a wife before his coronation but finds it difficult to do so due to his state of health.

He had what doctor John Mamrow of Bethlehem Hospital called disorganization of the nerve and he believes it can be cured through talking. His mother (Princess Augusta) had no option than to employ this doctor at once because she needed all the help she could get.

Charlotte on the other hand was trying every possible means to escape on her wedding day because she feared that something must be amiss for the British empire to look for a wife from the province of her kind.

She feared that the king may be with a sickness, be a beast or a troll. She eventually met the king in the garden and was surprised with what she saw.

While being treated, the king's mother stood in the gap for him by rulling the kingdom on his behalf before his coronation ceremony.

The mother was hoping to be in power for long after her son's coronation because she thinks the new queen will not be interested in rulling only for the the new queen to rise to the occasion by taking her rightful place in the kingdom.

After taking her place, the responsibility of rulling and running the kingdom fell on her shoulders. It was then the young queen realized what the dowager queen(princess Augusta) was going through.

The most annoying of all was that charlotte was more of a queen than a mother, she had thirteen children but yet none of them was able to provide a crown prince or princess after the passing of the former princess royal who died during childbirth.

This made her to become miserable and seek advice from two of her friends whom were also ladies in her court when they were younger(Lady Danbury and Bridgdeton) because they have grown up children and Lady Bridgeton married off two children in two years. Though they gave the queen advice but she was determined to deal with the problem in her own way.

She summoned all her children to an early morning meeting and told them to get married, sleep with their wives and give her royal babies lest the kingship in their blood line will end with their father king George II .

The children took their mother seriously and one of the wives became with child.

Queen challort then went to share the victorious ending with her husband the mad king. She felt fulfilled because she felt she has done her duty to her country. But the new king can not be crown till the death or demise of the present King.

The movie also showed the rich culture of marriage in old British empire. This is showcased in the way the young ladies have to pay debute to the queen before they can formally enter into the society.
I learnt a lot from the movie and I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions between King George and Queen Charlotte.

I rate this movie 7 /10 stars.
