ROCKY III (1982) MOVIE REVIEW
From the continuation of part I and II of the Rocky saga, comes to the screens in the decade of the 80s, Rocky III, the film plot of sport and action starring American actor Sylvester Stallone, shows us in this installment a boxer already consecrated in quotation marks, who had already defended the heavyweight title obtained since his fight with Apollo on several occasions and seriously put to the test this time against a very strong opponent and that would give a touch of reality to his boxing career, giving him a painful defeat which would result in the stripping of the world title.
The boxer Clubber Lang starring the actor Mr. T, is who arrives in this opportunity as a character who tests all the talent of Rocky, a talent that had accompanied him in each of the defense of his title, in a kind of challenge and provocation by Lang and which Rocky agrees is the beginning of this plot that brings as a consequence, that Rocky's team enters into a reality to face a type of boxer never seen before by the strong and skilled, and that their capabilities at first sight were superior to that of Rocky.
After accepting Lang's insistent proposal, the fight is given, having as outcome the defeat and the loss of the world title by KO. In a convincing demonstration of Lang, in only 2 rounds he became the new monarch of the world title, this managed to impact in a very noticeable way to Rocky, who after receiving such a beating in the ring, also suffers the loss of his trainer and father, who died after the fight due to a heart attack, meaning that Rocky was totally devastated and practically alone in his career as a professional boxer.
The death of Mickey, Rocky's father, played in this film by Burgess Meredith, would be the starting point for Rocky to open a new opportunity for change in the midst of his pain, and accept that he was no longer the champion and that if he wanted to return to the ring again he had to do it without him, something that was very difficult, and that is when an old acquaintance enters the scene that since his arrival was the most important piece in Rocky's return to action in search of returning to be the same as before and regain the lost title.
That character is nothing more and nothing less than Apollo Creed, Carl Weathers in real life, who sees in Rocky a potential that no one else could see, and is the ability to withstand blows, which should be combined with new techniques, leaving behind the old way of training Mickey to advance his career, the first obstacle. ? was to challenge the new heavyweight champion, Clubber Lang, who was the one who had taken the throne from him, was to place himself on the other side, the challenger to return to the place that belonged to him, a task not at all easy but not impossible, in the hands of multiple world champion Apollo Creed now as his trainer.
They were very intense trainings, where Apollo and Rocky would have to move from all the environment of the old city of Philadelphia to achieve a different result, for it, they decide to go to the warm city of Los Angeles, place where Apollo's beginnings were, to now transmit them to Rocky, not an easy task, For a person immersed in the pain of the loss of his father and trainer and trapped in the memories that he was widely overcome by Lang, even though he was a champion, now a former champion, leaving him a long way to go to his rejection against Lang, all also depending absolutely on him.
His partner Apollo on the road and in full training, sees several relapses in Rocky, trying and trying to get him on the path of the same training, trying to teach them new methods of how to fight, in order to face this great rival who was Lang, urging Rocky that he had to do it quickly because the time of the fight was approaching and there was no time for tomorrow, something that Rocky asked a lot in training where he would be exhausted and unwilling to continue.
In a conversation with his wife Adriana in training, and after being defeated and not finding the way to continue, she is the one who makes him return to the same, and that is when he decides to resume and pay more attention to what Apollo told him and gets the course to finally finish with all that preparation that would lead him to be 100% ready to face Lang, body and mind and regain once and for all the title that had long been in his possession, after this Rocky travels to New York City totally renewed.
Already in New York in the mythical Madison Square Garden and in a great demonstration of everything he learned in his training with Apollo, Rocky would face that rival that months ago had liquidated him in only 2 rounds, Rocky with speed and poise would respond to his demands, but typical in him, In the second round he would be displaced with Lang questioning everything he had learned, but bravely coming out of that bad moment that at times he thought he was going to be defeated again in the next round, in round 3, he would manage to defeat Lang with a magical game of legs and resistance to manage to liquidate him by KO. With punctual, fast and powerful punches to keep the lost crown and surprise everyone with his excellent physical condition and new winning style.
