Movie Review: Christmas at Cartwright´s [ES/EN]

¡Hola amigos! Hoy me pasó por acá a traerles la reseña de la que creo que será la última película navideña del año. La vi el sábado pasado y me gustó mucho, así que se las quiero compartir. La película se llama Christmas at Cartwright's y fue estrenada en el año 2014.

Hello friends! Today I stopped by to bring you the review of what I think will be the last Christmas movie of the year. I saw it last Saturday and I really liked it, so I want to share it with you. The movie is called Christmas at Cartwright's and it was released in 2014.

La película nos cuenta la historia de Nicky Talbot, una madre soltera que se quedó sin trabajo en época navideña. Hasta que le llega la noticia de que una tienda muy exitosa está contratando empleados, se presenta pero no queda. Sin embargo, tendrá su milagro navideño ya que termina encerrada en el vestuario del que será el nuevo Santa Claus de la tienda y la terminan confundiendo con él. Así que Nicky aprovecha la oportunidad para disfrazarse y convertirse en Santa. Los niños la aman, pero nadie sabe de su verdadera identidad, además la gerenta de eventos especiales sospecha de ella, pero tendrá la ayuda de un personaje muy particular. Allí establecerá amistades y también conocerá a Bill, un hombre que trabaja en la tienda y tuvo un flechazo por ella cuando la vio en la entrevista en la que no quedó. Así que ahora Nicky tendrá que decidir si le cuenta la verdad a Bill arriesgándose a perder el trabajo que tanto necesita o mantiene todo en secreto hasta que termine la época navideña y pueda salir de ese lío.

The film tells the story of Nicky Talbot, a single mother who is out of work at Christmas time. Until she gets the news that a very successful store is hiring employees, she applies but doesn't stay. However, she will have her Christmas miracle as she ends up locked in the dressing room of the store's new Santa Claus and is mistaken for him. So Nicky takes the opportunity to disguise herself and become Santa. The children love her, but no one knows her true identity, and the special events manager is suspicious of her, but she will have the help of a very particular character. There she will establish friendships and also meet Bill, a man who works at the store and had a crush on her when he saw her at the interview where she didn't make it. So now Nicky will have to decide whether to tell Bill the truth and risk losing the job she needs so badly or keep everything a secret until the Christmas season is over and she can get out of the mess.

La trama me resultó interesante porque nunca había visto a una mujer hacer de Santa Claus, no es lo más común, pero ya les digo que la idea no me disgustaría. Claro que nadie sabe el hecho que ella en realidad es una mujer, todos piensan que es un hombre y como se llama Nicky, creen que es por San Nicolás.

The plot was interesting to me because I had never seen a woman play Santa Claus before, it's not the most common thing to do, but I'm telling you, I wouldn't dislike the idea. Of course no one knows the fact that she is actually a woman, everyone thinks she is a man and since her name is Nicky, they think it is because of Saint Nicholas.

De nuevo tenemos una trama sencilla con una corta duración, pero que cumple con su cometido de presentar una historia navideña de esas que son magia pura y te hacen revivir el espíritu festivo de esta época.

Once again we have a simple plot with a short duration, but that fulfills its mission of presenting a Christmas story of those that are pure magic and make you relive the festive spirit of this time of the year.

Además, está el plus de que Nicky es una madre que está luchando para salir adelante junto con su hija Becky y ofrecerle un futuro mejor. Así que tiene cierta carga emotiva. Sin contar que la niña es un amor y solo busca ayudar a su madre a que sea feliz.

Plus, there is the added bonus that Nicky is a mother who is struggling to get ahead with her daughter Becky and offer her a better future. So it has a certain emotional charge. Not to mention that the little girl is a sweetheart and only seeks to help her mother to be happy.

De estas películas que estuve viendo, algunas tuvieron un elemento mágico que las hacía destacar. Acá fue un ángel que ayudó a Nicky y a su hija a cumplir con sus deseos navideños. Me di cuenta de que me gusta que suceda esto porque creo que eso es lo que le aporta encanto a este tipo de peliculas.

Of these films I was watching, some had a magical element that made them stand out. Here it was an angel that helped Nicky and her daughter fulfill their Christmas wishes. I realized that I like this to happen because I think that's what adds to the charm of these types of movies.

La historia romántica me gustó mucho, en esta ocasión sí sentí que había química entre los dos personajes. Además, al actor masculino ya lo conocía de otra serie que es una de mis favoritas así que me llamó la atención de inmediato ver esta película al reconocerlo, creo que le quedo muy bien este papel. El personaje de Nicky también me gustó mucho, me hizo reír y me pareció carismático, y la niña, por supuesto, fue un amor. El final fue acordé a lo espero.

I really liked the romantic story, this time I felt that there was chemistry between the two characters. Besides, I already knew the male actor from another series, which is one of my favorites, so I was immediately attracted to this movie when I recognized him, I think he fit this role very well. I also liked Nicky's character a lot, he made me laugh and I found him charismatic, and the little girl, of course, was a sweetheart. The ending was in line with my expectations.
