¡Hola amigos! Hoy me pasó por acá para traerles mi opinión sobre la película de comedia romántica del momento, aunque no la catalogaría tanto como comedia, me pareció más un drama romántico. Les estoy hablando de La idea de ti.

Hello friends! Today I stopped by to bring you my opinion about the romantic comedy movie of the moment, although I wouldn't categorize it so much as a comedy, it seemed more like a romantic drama to me. I'm talking about The Idea of You.

Esta película sigue la historia de Solène, una mujer de 40 años divorciada que tiene una hija adolescente a la que su padre prometió llevar al festival Coachella junto con sus amigos para ver a su Boy Band favorita de cuando tenía 10 años, al no poder ir él por un problema de negocios, termina llevándolos Solène. Llegados al lugar del evento, y en un confuso episodio, Solène termina en el tráiler de uno de los vocalista de la banda llamado Hayes Campbell de unos 24 años. Allí empieza una especie de coqueteo por parte de los dos y con el correr de los días vivirán un apasionado romance que será muy criticado por la sociedad y la vida de Solène y la de su hija se verá perjudicada.

This film follows the story of Solène, a 40-year-old divorced woman who has a teenage daughter whom her father promised to take to the Coachella festival along with her friends to see her favorite Boy Band when she was 10 years old, when he could not go because of a business problem, Solène ends up taking them. Arriving at the venue, and in a confusing episode, Solène ends up in the trailer of one of the band's vocalist named Hayes Campbell, about 24 years old. There begins a kind of flirtation on the part of the two and as the days go by they will live a passionate romance that will be highly criticized by society and Solène's life and that of her daughter will be damaged.

Seguro que habrán escuchado muchas opiniones con respecto a esta película, algunas duras y otras no tanto. Yo tengo sentimientos encontrados porque me gustó la película, aunque entiendo el punto de que puede tener rasgos cuestionables de acuerdo a la creencia de cada uno. A mí me parece que mientras todos sean mayores de edad está bien que salgan con quienes quieran sin que esto sea un impedimento. Pero también quiero aclarar que estaría en contra si fuera una relación tóxica donde alguno es manipulado por el otro, generalmente el de mayor edad hacía el de menor, pero como no creo que este sea el caso me parece bien el romance.

I'm sure you have heard many opinions regarding this movie, some harsh and others not so much. I have mixed feelings because I liked the movie, although I understand the point that it may have questionable features according to one's belief. It seems to me that as long as everyone is of legal age it is fine for them to date whoever they want without this being an impediment. But I also want to clarify that I would be against it if it were a toxic relationship where one is manipulated by the other, usually the older one towards the younger one, but since I don't think this is the case I am fine with the romance.

También me parece un poco hipócrita criticar cuando la que es mayor de edad es una mujer y el otro un jovencito, nadie lo cuestiona tanto cuando sucede al revés y es visto casi como normal. En esta película quedó demostrado como todo el foco fue puesto en ella y no en él o en el ex marido que la dejó por una mujer mucho más joven en su momento. Ella fue catalogada como la asaltacunas y abusadora. Pero bueno, ya sabemos como son vistos estos casos en la sociedad, quería hacer este descargo antes de dar mi opinión sobre el film.

I also find it a bit hypocritical to criticize when the one who is of age is a woman and the other a young man, no one questions it so much when it happens the other way around and it is seen almost as normal. In this film it was demonstrated how all the focus was put on her and not on him or the ex-husband who left her for a much younger woman at the time. She was labeled as the cradle robber and abuser. But well, we already know how these cases are seen in society, I wanted to make this disclaimer before giving my opinion about the film.

Dicho esto, al principio sí me pareció muy graciosa y estaba viviendo el momento con la protagonista, podía entender sus contradicciones y me parecía increíble todo lo que le estaba pasando. La actuación de Anne Hathaway estuvo increíble, sabe muy bien transmitir las emociones que debe sentir su personaje, se debate entre la inseguridad, las dudas, el miedo y la vergüenza. Por otro lado, a él lo sentí muy genuino a pesar de todo, ya que podría haberse visto de entrada como que era un juego de un cantante famoso que quiere experimentar con una mujer mayor, pero al correr de los minutos te das cuenta que lo que siente es real. También me gustó la actuación de Nicholas Galitzine y esto es muy importante para conectar con los personajes y sus historias.

That said, at the beginning I found it very funny and I was living the moment with the protagonist, I could understand her contradictions and I found everything that was happening to her incredible. Anne Hathaway's performance was incredible, she knows very well how to transmit the emotions that her character must feel, she is torn between insecurity, doubts, fear and shame. On the other hand, I felt him very genuine in spite of everything, as it could have been seen from the beginning as a game of a famous singer who wants to experiment with an older woman, but as the minutes go by you realize that what he feels is real. I also liked Nicholas Galitzine's performance and this is very important to connect with the characters and their stories.

La trama no es de lo mejorcito que haya visto, podría haber estado mejor, pero la verdad que cumple su función de mostrarnos este lado de algo que podría pasar y es entretenida de ver. Hacía la mitad del film y al final se pueden ver tintes más dramáticos, ya que todo se descubre y empieza a ser demasiado para los protagonistas. O más bien, para Solène y su familia porque en ningún momento el ojo público estuvo puesto en Hayes. También tuvo buenos planos y paralelismo, además de momentos de humor que buscan cumplir con la agenda pública pero creo que quedaron un poco colgados en la historia. Pasaron desapercibidos. Así que esta película tuvo sus aciertos y sus errores, no fue perfecta, pero estuvo entretenida.

The plot is not the best I've seen, it could have been better, but the truth is that it fulfills its function of showing us this side of something that could happen and is entertaining to watch. Towards the middle of the film and at the end you can see more dramatic overtones, as everything is discovered and begins to be too much for the protagonists. Or rather, for Solène and her family because at no point was the public eye on Hayes. It also had good shots and parallelism, as well as moments of humor that seek to fulfill the public agenda but I think they got a little hung up in the story. They went unnoticed. So this film had its hits and misses, it wasn't perfect, but it was entertaining.

Creo que es una película que te hace sentir contrariada en muchos aspectos, pero si van con la mente abierta quizá la puedan llegar a disfrutar, no deja de ser una historia más de un romance. Por otro lado, y esto yo no lo sabía ya que no era fan de One Direction, me enteré después de ver esta película que está basada en un fanfic sobre Harry Styles, así que tiene mucho sentido ahora que lo sé. En definitiva, la película tiene un mensaje claro y es que la sociedad puede ser muy prejuiciosa, sobre todo con las mujeres.

I think it's a movie that makes you feel upset in many aspects, but if you go with an open mind maybe you can enjoy it, it's just another romance story. On the other hand, and I didn't know this since I wasn't a fan of One Direction, I found out after watching this movie that it is based on a fanfic about Harry Styles, so it makes a lot of sense now that I know that. All in all, the movie has a clear message and that is that society can be very prejudiced, especially towards women.
