🎬 Movie Review: The Life List [ES/EN]

¡Hola amigos! El fin de semana pasado vi una película en Netflix que había escuchado nombrar, pero no le di mayor importancia. Así que la empecé con cero expectativas y se terminó convirtiendo en una de mis favoritas. Les estoy hablando de Mi lista de deseos.

Hello friends! Last weekend I watched a movie on Netflix that I had heard of, but didn't give it much thought. So I started it with zero expectations and it ended up becoming one of my favorites. I'm talking to you about The Life List.

Trama - Plot

La historia gira en torno a Alexandra, una joven que está un poco perdida en la vida, estancada en un empleo que crea amar, en una relación que no le aporta mucho y postergando sus sueños por miedo. Su madre con la que era muy unida fallece y, como último deseo, decide despedirla de la empresa familiar, pero para que vaya en busca de sus sueños. Por lo que le deja una serie de videos grabados que irá desbloqueando a medida que vaya tachando ítems de una lista de deseos que escribió Alex cuando tenía 13 años. En esa lista está la clave para reencontrarse con ella misma y lo que dejó de lado, y quizá también encuentre el verdadero amor.

The story revolves around Alexandra, a young woman who is a bit lost in life, stuck in a job she thinks she loves, in a relationship that doesn't bring her much and putting off her dreams out of fear. Her mother with whom she was very close dies and, as a last wish, decides to fire her from the family business, but to go in search of her dreams. So he leaves her a series of recorded videos that she will unlock as she crosses items off a wish list that Alex wrote when she was 13 years old. In that list is the key to rediscover herself and what she left aside, and maybe she will also find true love.

A simple vista la película parece una romcom común y corriente, pero es una película muy profunda y reflexiva. Te hace replantear la vida, ya que nos habla de las pérdidas, los duelos, los miedos y todo aquello que dejamos postergado. Es una película que te invita a hacer introspección y te da una cachetada de realidad. Si estás algo perdido en la vida tal vez ayude mirarla, yo a veces me siento dando tumbos, pero bueno, creo que nadie tiene la receta mágica de cómo vivir. Lo importante es intentar estar bien por donde vamos.

At first glance the film looks like an ordinary romcom, but it is a very deep and reflective film. It makes you rethink life, as it talks about loss, grief, fears and everything we leave behind. It is a film that invites you to introspect and gives you a slap in the face of reality. If you are a bit lost in life, it might help to watch it, I sometimes feel like I'm stumbling, but well, I think no one has the magic recipe for how to live. The important thing is to try to be fine where we are going.

Así que es una película muy buena para hacer un viaje a nuestro interior o solo conectar con la protagonista y lo que está viviendo. Realmente empaticé con ella en más de un sentido y al terminar de verla me dejo rara, un poco triste, un poco vacía tal vez. Me hizo sentir algo sola, bueno, si no están pasando un buen momento a lo mejor no es buena idea mirarla jajaja. Yo me encuentro algo sensible y confusa, por lo que puede haberme afectado un poco.

So it's a very good movie to make a trip to our inner self or just connect with the protagonist and what she is living. I really empathized with her in more than one way and when I finished watching it it left me feeling weird, a little sad, a little empty maybe. It made me feel a bit lonely, well, if you're not having a good time maybe it's not a good idea to watch it hahaha. I find myself a bit sensitive and confused, so it may have affected me a bit.

Con respecto al romance, para los románticos empedernidos como yo que les gusta leer mis publicaciones, les cuento que tiene una de las historias de amor más bellas que vi. Si bien, no siento que sea una película que se enfoque en el romance como su tema principal, si es una parte importante. Porque mientras Alex iba dando tumbos y tomando control sobre su vida de nuevo, hubo una persona con la que podía hablar de todo y ser ella misma sin que la juzgarán. Alguien con el que congeniaba un montón y no se daba cuenta porque ambos estaban en una relación con otras personas, pero la química se sentía a lo lejos. A veces simplemente no estas lista para verlo hasta que te choca de frente y eso es lo mágico.

Regarding the romance, for the die-hard romantics like me who like to read my posts, it has one of the most beautiful love stories I've seen. While I don't feel it's a movie that focuses on romance as its main theme, it is an important part of it. Because as Alex was stumbling around and taking control over her life again, there was one person she could talk to about everything and be herself without being judged. Someone she hit it off with a lot and didn't realize it because they were both in a relationship with other people, but the chemistry felt far away. Sometimes you just aren't ready to see it until it hits you head on and that's the magic.

La verdad es que es una película muy linda con un mensaje fuerte e inspirador. Habla de reencontrarse con uno mismo y sus sueños, a veces olvidamos lo que amábamos o quizá nos gane el miedo, por lo que nos terminamos conformando con lo que tenemos, y nos quedamos en el molde, porque así nos encontramos seguros y se convierte en una zona de confort. A veces la vida necesita que nos movamos un poco y salgamos de allí en pos de nuestras metas y sueños. Me encantó todo lo que vi aquí y es por eso que la recomiendo.

The truth is that it is a very nice movie with a strong and inspiring message. It talks about rediscovering oneself and one's dreams, sometimes we forget what we loved or maybe we are overcome by fear, so we end up settling for what we have, and we stay in the mold, because that way we feel safe and it becomes a comfort zone. Sometimes life needs us to move a little and get out of there in pursuit of our goals and dreams. I loved everything I saw here and that is why I recommend it.

Not a minor fact for readers like me, this movie is based on a book of the same name which, of course, I've already put on my wish list to read as soon as I can.
