My Classic Christmas Movies Collection || Movies & TV Community Contest.
Every year, I always look forward to the Christmas season. It is my best time of the year when I am able to visit my family, travel if the opportunity presents itself, put my baking skills to work, go shopping, watch lots Christmas films, and also visit many places for fun. However, I am still yet to have the best Christmas of my life whereby I have all my heart desires in life. I also think some of us are yet to have such a Christmas.
Mind you, the Christmasses I have experienced are not bad. They were all good and filled with so many happy and fond memories respectively.
Watching Christmas movies during the season is something that keeps me in the mood for celebration and also to spice it up, I listen to Christmas music albums. I mean music is life. Maybe I will make a separate post talking about my favorite Christmas music albums.
Now I must confess, last year, my routine of watching Christmas movies was disrupted because all the Christmas movies that were released last year were a messy production except for some few ones that caught my attention. So last year, I had no other option than to fall back to my old Christmas movie collection. I was not happy because I thought I would be adding some new movies to my collections. Also, at the same time it was a nostalgic experience for me.
This year, the admins of Movies & TV Community gave us the opportunity to talk about our Christmas films, be it movies, TV shows or Christmas themed music videos by organizing an exciting contest. Here is the link to it if you are interested.
In this post, I'll talk about two films from my classic Christmas movies collections.
This Christmas (2007).
This movie is a Christmas comedy that was produced, written, and directed by Preston A. Whitmore II. It was distributed by Screen Gems with some many popular black American actors that we love to see on screen. The movie starred Delroy Lindon, Idris Elba, Loretta Devine, Chris Brown, Columbus Short, Regina King, Keith Robinson, Laz Alonso, Sharon Leal, Lauren London and. Mekhi Phifer.
The plot of the movie revolves around the Whitfield family whose eldest son, Quentin came home for Christmas after some many years of being away from home. However, as he came home, he brought some of his troubles along with him to his family's town.
As Quentin got home he was reunited with his other siblings and their family dramas. When I saw this movie the first time back in 2009, it was a wonderful experience for me. It was a fun watch for me because I had some many hard laughs that were not forgettable. I love the fact that this movie centers around the themes of family and their dynamics, betrayal, deceit, lies, love, and family bond.
The storyline of this movie was well written. It gets you hooked from the beginning up till the end. The comedy was excellently written in a way that you can't help but to laugh. You also get the feeling of being around family. The joy, happiness, and the annoyance one feels when with family. It is a fun movie that a family can sit and watch.
I had a lot of favorite scenes in this movie but I will just talk about one that I find very funny and satisfying. The scene where eldest daughter, Lisa (Regina King), a housewife, finds out that her husband, Malcolm (Laz Alonso) was cheating on her. Lisa was so bitter and angry that she devised the most satisfying and petty way to get back at her husband. She used a whole bottle of baby oil on wet tiles for him and flogged him with his belt. That scene never gets old.
The Best Man Holiday (2013).
This movie is the sequel to ’The Best Man (1999)’. This sequel was Christmas themed and it is a comedy drama that centers around a group of college students who haven't been together for the past 15 years. Now they come together to spend the Christmas together regardless of the difference or grudges. The movie starred Morris Chestnut, Taye Diggs, Regina Hall, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, Melissa De Sousa and Harold Perrineau.
Mia Sullivan, Lance's wife, invites all her old college best friends to celebrate Christmas with her family. Harper Stewart with his pregnant wife Robyn received an invitation as did Julian and wife Candace Sparks. Jordan Armstrong and her boyfriend Brian McDonald, Quentin Spivey, and Shelby Taylor all were invited by Mia.
This was just a Christmas celebration with old college friends but it was a reunion and an opportunity to mend fences and also build bridges that were broken down 15 years ago. I saw this movie back in 2015 and it was worth my time. Whenever
Some of these popular black American actors come together to act in a movie . It was always interesting and very fun to watch.
The plot was well written, interesting, engaging and the flow was flawless. If you have watched the first sequel you will still be able to watch this sequel because there was a flashback to what happened in the initial sequel. The comedy was intense, unique and decent. It is family friendly. The setting was amazing. It had a rich Christmas vibe. The scene arrangements were done well, the location and also the music used. Old school and classics.
It also explored some strong themes about the dynamics of life, challenges of life and how life is too short for one to on to hold grudges or old quarrels.
My favorite scene was the ending. I loved the ending. It was a bittersweet experience. All grudges were forgotten, fences were mended and all of them repaired the relationships which was the aim of Mia before she died. So I guess it is a win.
Would I recommend this Christmas movie? Definitely! I would. They are both interesting and fun to watch. Also, it will get you into the Christmas spirit. Have you seen these movies before? How was it for you?

Yes they do! You will enjoy them both when you decide to watch them. I appreciate your visit. Compliments of the season
Hello friend, this is the best month to watch movies, since many production companies begin to release all those premieres and in this way have a great time of laughter and fun. These movies that they share with us, I saw the first one after it came out for a while and I really liked the way they managed to unite the whole family despite the problems, it shows that this is an important date and being reunited is the most important thing, also the presence of good actors in it. I will look for the second one and from what you say it sounds very good, where in the end these films leave the importance of sharing.
Yes! You should see the second movie. You will definitely enjoy it since you enjoyed the first one. Thank you for stopping by. I appreciate your visit and comment.
Iteresting, I didn't know that Idris Elba was in a Christmas movie, I like him as an actor, I think I'll look for this movie to see, thanks for these recommendations.
Hehe, yes he did. I do like him too. He was still young a bit in the movie. You will enjoy watching. Idris Elba never disappoint. Thank you for the visit. I appreciate your time here and comment. Compliments of the season 😊

That's a nice selection. I've already watched them all.
Agradezco tu tiempo y comentario. Feliz Navidad para usted.
