Special Ops: Lioness Season 2 (2024) || Series Review.
About two weeks ago I was excited to be on break from work for the Christmas holiday, but unfortunately, my excitement was cut short when I was called in for work. I said goodbye to the watchlist of Christmas movies I wanted to watch for the holidays. Maybe I'll still watch Christmas movies regardless of the timing.
Happy new year from me to all my lovely readers and supporters. I appreciate how you all showed up for me all through last year. The engagements, comments, and curations. You made it enjoyable to continue to write here and you have made my blogging journey incredibly interesting. Thank you.
A few days ago, I had a little bit of time and I decided to watch the second season of ”Special Ops: Lioness” that premiered last year. The first season was a thrilling experience for me. It was a tv series that impressed and satisfied 90% of it's audience. I say it was another big television hit for Taylor Sheridan.
This show majorly revolves around the behind-the-scenes decision-making within the US government operation as well as the intense danger that comes with every decision being made. So I wasn't surprised that Sheridan delivered in the production of the second season. In fact, this season was spiced and improved which makes me wait eagerly for the third season.
”Special Ops: Lioness Tv show” is an American action drama, spy thriller television series created by Taylor Sheridan. It majorly starred Zoe Saldana, Nicole Kidman, Jill Wagner, Laysla De Oliveira, Max Martini, Michael Kelly, Genesis Rodriguez, Thad Luckinbill, Michael Kelly, Morgan Freeman, Jonah Wharton, Hannah Love Lanier, James Jordan, I LaMonica Garrett, Thad Luckinbill and so many other supporting character actors.
From the plot and storyline of this second season, I realised that Sheridan made a lot of adjustments and improvements. She took into consideration all the positive criticism of her viewers from the initial season. That's what we call evolving. Sheridan did not only make improvements she also went all in, in the aspect of action, mystery, suspense, spicy scenes, and military strategies.
Immediately, from the first couple of minutes, Sheridan took us on a suspenseful and shocking trip. She graced the screen with a gripping scene where we witness a group of trained assassins break into a house at night, shooting a man and his son execution Style. Then they kidnapped the wife who tried to run for her life. This woman that was kidnapped happened to be a Spanish Congresswoman in America.
I didn't expect this scene to be the very first thing I saw as I started watching the show. Then I knew that this second season of ”Special Ops: Lioness” will be superb and thrilling. I say it was an excellent introduction. It made me curious as to what happens all through the movie. Will the Congress woman be safe? Was it a political play to poke the bear (America). Is the Congresswoman who she really is? All these questions and more came to my mind.
In continuation, the Lioness special ops group were called upon by the U.S. Secretary of State to help resolve this problem without it getting too much attention from the public due to the upcoming election. Joe, the CIA senior case officer in charge of the Lioness program in the field, came to the meeting where decisions were being made. Afterwards she was tasked with bringing the Spanish Congresswoman back home.
Saying goodbye to her family, she embarked on the journey to finish the task. However, this task went downhill when the Congresswoman was not retrieved back quietly which led to more exposure and agenda of the captor. This became a threat to national security which had to be solved by the use of a combat pilot who is related to the captor’s bloodline. Will these risk plans go well? Will Joe return back to her family in one piece? And will the special ops Lioness group succeed?
What Do I Like About This Season?
If I was asked to choose the season I enjoyed most, it would be the second season. Why?
In this second season, Sheridan really put so much work into it. The plot was well written with every character, scenes, and backstories fully fleshed out. No potholes, the scenes were arranged in a fantastic sequence that would give the viewer a great cinematic experience, let's not forget how the combat scenes were arranged. It gave me goosebumps and memory flashbacks.
The cast was amazing! I particularly enjoyed the role of Nicole Kidman, Zoe Saldana, Jill Wagner (her dark humor was diabolical), and also the new character that was introduced, Genesis Rodriguez. I enjoyed how Zoe was able to explore her bitchy dark side without restrictions and with her shoulder held up high. Zoe was amazing, I mean she always plays all her roles exceptionally. I was happy when she won her first-ever Golden Globe on Sunday, January 5th. She deserved it and it was well deserved.
The camera work is one of the things I enjoyed. They gave us a wide view in a kind of omnipresent perspective. All the combat scenes were shot with grace. The locations were all befitting for each scene and finally I love how at the middle of the show it got spicy and then back to business with thrilling scenes.
Rating this season, I give it 8.5 out of 10 stars. It is worth the watch, interesting, entertaining and action packed. I enjoyed watching and the ending was well resolved with no loose end. I can't wait to see what Sheridan has cooking for us in the next season.
If you enjoy espionage, spy, crime and action films, I recommend you hop on this TV show immediately.

It's just that I'm a lover of US military and every other intelligence film. And i like to enjoy the full package without a cue. The images you used here are compelling enough, so I'd jist jump right in to watching this.

Arghh, you beat me to it! I'm hoping to binge-watch season 2 this weekend and write my review on it.
Season 1 was amazing and Zoë Saldana delivered as always. I'm glad Taylor Sheridan made some adjustments that upped the series even further. So there's going to be another season? If yes, I'm not surprised. The series is so good. I live for the actions and thrill of the Lioness crew! A well-written review. ✨
