I don't think people are comparing shows to Andor simply because they want it to be on that same level of quality (even if that would be incredible) It's because Andor is simply a good show, and thus we know that Star Wars can achieve that level of quality.

The writer for andor clearly has passion for the franchise since he made an excellent show showing the empire to be a coherent threat.
It also helps that andor doesnt have massively cringe stuff like the power of mmaannnyyy. Good writing will make characters coherent and likable and leave you with a lot to say about their arcs. It can be infinitly more enjoyable then writing a character badly. Like writing vader to be a coward or annoying.

Shows like The Acolyte get compared to Andor not because people want that same tone, style or writing approach. Audience just want it to be a good show. Leslye is less experienced, but all of these problems can be helped by bringing in older experience. And more than just skill in the writing craft, it's about running the show. I'd say a lot of the issues with Acolyte could be mitigated with a better runtime, but there are still several issues with the writing and direction.
