In today's post, I will make my own humble comments about the Bridgerton series, whose books I have also read before.

Julia Quin, whose books I loved to read when I was a teenager in high school, was really one of my favorites on historical romance novels.
I started this adventure thinking that the Bridgerton series would also be good.
First, if I want to talk about the book in general; The novel is about the life of noble families in England in 1814. The main theme is a hippodrome where ambitious mothers compete with each other to find the best husband candidate for their daughters.
Dear Viscountess is one of these mothers, trying to marry off her 7 children one by one. In the first series, she tries various methods to marry off her daughter Daphne. Today, I will make a comparison between the first book and the first season of the series.

Series - Book

If I have to talk about the characters first, I can say that seeing black actors, very different from the book, of course surprised me a lot. In 1814, the idea of a black duke is very ironic, but one of the steps Netflix has recently taken to defend the idea that we are against racism, although there are times when I support it, I don't think it is very suitable for this series because if you are making a historical series, I think it should be suitable for it.

Simon, Duke of Hastings, the leading role, is one of them. Even though he is described as a brunette in the book, I think the author knows the difference between being a brunette and being black :)
But fortunately, I think we can turn a blind eye to this because the actor considered for Simon is physically very pleasing to the eye (the fact that he is the only perfect man in the world according to Da Vinci's calculations can be proof of this lol)

The second black character is Lady Danbury, who doesn't have much importance in the book, but she is one of the cornerstones of the series, which is a decision taken by the screenwriters themselves. But I can say that I liked this character very much, I would like to see her in the book in the same way.

Things I like about the series

Overall, I can say that I found the series successful. The fact that there is already an agreement for other seasons proves this.

I liked the unique historical-romantic aspect of the series very much. Maybe because I like this kind of period series, I don't know, I can say that the clothes used, the decor of the palaces almost drew me to that period.
The fact that the events in the first series are very similar to the events in the book is one of the aspects I look at positively.
The spark between Daphne and Simon is one of the things I like about the series.

Things I don't like about the series

As I said at the beginning, of course I love black actors, but it is absurd to see them in this series.

It is sad that Lady Whistledown, a character that will be hidden throughout the series, was revealed in the first series.

Although the Queen was not mentioned much in the book, I think it was unnecessary to include her nephew, the prince, in the series. While it was nice that the Queen became one of the main characters throughout the series, I think it was unnecessary for her nephew to flirt with Daphne in the first series.

At the same time, although it was not in the book, the addition of a character like Mrs. Thompson as a relative of the Featheringtons in the series and her relationship with Colin Bridgerton was an unnecessary addition.(She was a very annoying character to be honest)

Unlike in the book, I can say that I was a little disappointed that the argument between Daphne and Simon was resolved immediately, I would like to experience that chaos for at least a few chapters, so I think the excitement will increase even more.

In general, I mentioned the first book-series in this post to be an introduction, in fact, I can say that it is my favorite second series, I want to prepare a detailed post especially about it, but I didn't want to do this without an introductory post.

Bugünkü postumda daha önce kitaplarını da okumuş olduğum Bridgerton dizisi hakkinda kendi naçizane yorumları yapacağım.

Henüz lisede ergenken kitaplarını bayılarak okuduğum Julia Quin gerçekten tarihi aşk romanları üzerine favorilerimden biriydi.
Bridgerton serisinin de güzel olacağını düşünerek başlamıştım bu serüvene.
İlk önce genel olarak kitaptan bahsetmek istersem; roman 1814 yılının İngiltere'sinde soylu ailelerin yaşamını konu alıyor. Asıl bahsedilen tema ise hırslı annelerin kızlarına en iyi koca adayını bulmak için birbiriyle yarıştığı bir hipodrom adeta.
Sevgili Vikontes de bunlardan biri, 7 çocuğunu sırasıyla evlendirme derdine düşmüş durumda. İlk seride kızı Daphne'yi evlendirmek için çeşitli yöntemler dener. Ben de bugün ilk kitap ve dizinin birinci sezonunun karşılaştırmasını sizler için yapacağım.

Dizi - Kitap

Önce karakterlerden bahsetmem gerekirse kitaptan çok farklı olarak siyahi oyuncular görmek tabi ki beni fazlasıyla şaşırttı diyebilirim. 1814 yılında Siyahi bir dük düşüncesi fazlasıyla ironi ama Netflix'in son zamanlarda ırkçılığa karşıyız düşüncesini savunmak için yapmış olduğu adımlardan birisi her ne kadar desteklediğim zamanlar olsa da bu dizi için çok da uygun olduğunu düşünmüyorum çünkü eğer tarihi bir dizi yapıyorsanız ona uygun olması gerekir diye düşünüyorum.

Başrol olan Hastings Dükü Simon da bunlardan birisi. Kitapta esmer olarak tarif edilse bile yazarın esmerlikle siyahilik arasındaki farkı bildiğini düşünüyorum :)
Ama neyse ki Simon icin düşünülen oyuncu fizik olarak fazlasıyla göz doyurucu olduğu için buna göz yumabiliriz diye düşünüyorum ( kendisinin Da Vinci'nin hesaplamalarına göre dünyadaki kusursuz tek erkek olması da bunun kanıtı olabilir lol)

İkinci bir siyahi karakter ise Lady Danbury ki kendisinin kitapta çok fazla önemi olmamasına rağmen dizi serileri boyunca ana taşlardan biri olması da senaristlerin kendi kendine almış olduğu bir karar. Ama ben bu karakteri fazlasıyla sevdim diyebilirim , kitapta da aynı şekilde görebilmek isterdim.

Dizi Hakkında Sevdiğim Şeyler

Genel olarak diziyi başarılı buldum diyebilirim. Zaten diğer sezonlar için anlaşma yapılması bunu kanıtlıyor.

Dizinin kendine has tarihi-romantik yönünü fazlasıyla sevdim. Bu tarz dönem dizilerini sevdiğim için belki de bilmiyorum kullanılan kıyafetler, sarayların dekorları beni adeta o döneme çekti diyebilirim.
İlk seride kitaptakine göre olayların çok benzerlik göstermesi de olumlu baktığım yönlerden birisi.
Daphne ve Simon arasındaki kıvılcımda dizi hakkında beğendiğim yönlerden birisi.

Dizi Hakkında Sevmediğim Şeyler

Başta dediğim gibi siyahi oyuncuları tabi ki seviyorum ama bu dizide görmek absürt olmuş.

Seri boyunca saklanacak bir karakter olan Leydi Whistledown'ın ilk seride açıklanması üzücü.

Kitapta Kraliçeden çok bahsedilmemesine rağmen seriye eklenmesi ve yeğeni prensin de dahil olması bence gereksizdi. Kraliçe seri boyunca ana karakterlerden biri haline gelmesi hoş olsa da ilk dizide yeğeninin Daphne ile flört etmesi bence gereksizdi.

Aynı zamanda kitapta olmamasına rağmen diziye Featherington'ların akrabası rolünde Bayan Thompson gibi bir karakterin eklenmesi ve Colin Bridgertonla ilişki halinde olması gereksiz bir ekleme.(Çok sinir bir karakterdi açıkçası)

Kitaptakinin aksine Daphne ve Simon arasındaki tartışmanın hemen çözülmesi de beni biraz hayal kırıklığına uğrattı diyebilirim en azından birkaç bölüm o kaosu yaşamak isterdim böylece heyecanın daha da artacağını düşünüyorum.

Genel olarak fikirlerim bu yönde bu postta ilk kitap-diziden bahsettim giriş olması için aslında benim en beğendiğim ikinci seri diyebilirim özellikle onunla ilgili ayrıntılı bir post hazırlamak istiyorum ama bunu da giriş postu olmadan yapmak istemedim.
