Bombón, Burbuja and Bellota are three little girls with a mission: to save the world before going to sleep. They live with Professor Utonio in a house on the outskirts of Saltadilla City, where they face a variety of monsters and villains.

Back in 1991, a young man named Craig McCraken was a sophomore at the California Institute of the Arts, where he presented a series of animated shorts that would serve as his debut in independent animation. In that year he drew the image of three girls on a cardboard as a birthday card for his brother, this image of three tender, colorful girls, with big eyes and adorable look would be the basis for the cartoon that would come later.

Esto ocurrió mientras trabajaba en la serie llamada 2 perros tontos, el piloto fue seleccionado y se le cambió el nombre a Las Chicas Superpoderosas o Powerpuff Girls en su idioma original, el concepto se mantuvo casi intacto, agregando algunos cambios como el compuesto “X” como el detonante de la creación de las protagonistas, y así el 18 de Noviembre de 1998 se estrenaría esta gran caricatura, y se emitiría hasta el 25 de Marzo de 2005, con 78 episodios distribuidos en 5 temporadas, tres especiales y una película precuela estrenada en cines en Julio de 2002, atraería a un público de diversas edades, teniendo éxito también en productos como loncheras, camisetas, entre otras.

The 2002 movie was a failure at the time, the creator of the series himself said that the problem was that most fans did not want to admit that they liked the series, it is not like now that it is normal to enjoy animated series, back then it was a source of ridicule. From the fourth season McCraken would move away from the show and would cede the command to Chris Savino, who would later create his show for Nickelodeon The Loud House, here began the decline of the show, the animation would become more static, the stories simpler, the comedy was very forced and all that would lead to its cancellation at the end of the fifth season.

Back in 2006, in an attempt to bring back the series with a new approach, Cartoon Network partnered with Toei Animation and created The Powerpuff Girls Z, inspired by the magical girls series they tried to attract new and old fans, but the series went very unnoticed and was canceled a year later in 2007. In 2016 an attempt was made to make an official continuation of the original show that was very hated because it had nothing of what made the series special, even some characters were removed as they were considered inappropriate and others were included that did not contribute anything, even so it was transmitted until 2019.

A Live action series was even attempted with the three main characters as adults, as people resentful and traumatized with the childhood they had, but the script of the series was leaked on the internet and due to the negative reaction of the public the project was canceled. Apparently a new series of The Powerpuff Girls will be made and the creator will be involved, we will have to wait and see how it turns out.

Hasta se intentó una serie Live action con las tres protagonistas ya de adultas, como personas resentidas y traumadas con la niñez que tuvieron, pero el guion de la serie se filtró en internet y debido a la reacción negativa del público se canceló el proyecto. Al parecer se hará una nueva serie de Las Chicas Superpoderosas y estará el creador involucrado, habrá que esperar y ver en qué resulta.

Como vemos, esta serie marcó a una gran cantidad de fans, incluso actualmente se sigue viendo esta serie, lo que demuestra una vez más que la animación no es solo para niños, y aunque con el tiempo la serie se fue desgastando, eso no quita el hecho de que nos dio grandes momentos cada vez que nos sentamos a ver otro episodio de este gran programa.
