No complaints about The Watcher (2022)

I was interested in this series because the protagonists are Bobby Cannavale and Naomi Watts, then I learned that it was based on a real event and although the first chapter was not so amazing I let myself be surprised by the following ones.
What attracted me the most is that from the beginning it seems a story set in the 80's, curiously to be a family that appears to be millionaires I guess that by the clothes moved me to another era until little by little technology appears, smart phones, cars, tablets, etc, but if it were not for that detail I think I could easily stay with the idea that it is a story of long ago.
Now the story, The Watcher wants to illustrate a family that buys an incredible house and upon arrival begin to receive letters from someone obsessed with this house and who makes it known that he is all the time watching, knowing their children, places in the house, threatens with messages that lead to despair to the new neighbors.
In the environment of the house there are interesting characters that some I liked a lot, only that by getting so close to the real drama I felt that they did not explode at all. The neighbors are basically all crazy, they don't empathize or love the new inhabitants and seek to make their lives impossible by making them desperate and confusing them even more, either by entering their house invasively or in their yard, even with a simple look they can scare or destabilize the family.
The daughter is also a recurring problem for the father as she is growing up and he begins to over care for her with a toxic vision where she is not even allowed to dress comfortably as she can be sexualized. This seems silly but it is part of the father's path to insanity as it is something that confuses and upsets him further as his own daughter begins to do very dangerous things against him.
Dean, the father, turns to a private investigator to help him with the case and little by little they get closer to some solution, but as time goes by only things happen that confuse them again.
The real case remains unsolved, it is not known what is happening but according to what happens in the series, the neighbors are very involved because they seem to be a sect that simply wants to take care of that house, avoid remodeling, do not like pets and other obsessive things.
It is an interesting and curious series, I think each character is very well done, some details of the script are crazy like when they fake a death and out of nowhere appear with another explanation but otherwise there are many ideas and concepts very well executed.
I would say that the series seeks to show us how someone can be confused and destabilized by the power of the written word, how it generates obsession and anxiety in someone from the same obsession.
At some point in the series, the letters do not add so much importance but it does not mean that what happens in the house has to do with The Watcher, so the confusion is logical because if we do not know the past of a house and its surroundings we will easily associate everything with the danger that we just know.
I enjoyed it a lot even though it is not my style, I got several scares because it is an innovative drama, but it seems suspenseful and even with horror scenes. In fact, the genre they give it on Google search is horror.
I loved watching Bobby Cannavale act with Naomi Watts, they are both amazing actors and in these characters they have excelled a lot.
Mr. Cannavale's work is outstanding because even though it's a light and short series, you could say he executes all the negative emotions, you rarely see him happy and mostly his eyes are sad or full of anger, worry and confusion.
I must say that I was expecting someone to die at some point in the series, because of all the bad vibes that were starting to be felt and how everything was going on, then it was when I remembered that it was based on real events and I found out a little more about the case.
I hope you can enjoy this series as much as I did, I appreciate the attention of having read this far.

Me interesé en esta serie porque los protagonistas son Bobby Cannavale y Naomi Watts, luego me enteré que estaba basada en un hecho real y aunque el primer capítulo no fue tan asombroso me dejé sorprender por los siguientes.
Lo que mas me atrajo es que desde el inicio parece una historia ambientada en los 80, curiosamente al ser una familia que aparenta ser millonaria supongo que por la vestimenta me trasladó a otra época hasta que poco a poco va apareciendo la tecnología, teléfonos inteligentes, carros, tablets, etc, pero si no fuera por ese detalle creo que fácilmente podría quedarme con la idea de que es una historia de hace mucho tiempo.
Ahora la historia, The Watcher quiere ilustrar a una familia que compra una casa increíble y que al llegar comienzan a recibir cartas de alguien obsesionado con esta casa y que hace saber que está todo el rato vigilando, conociendo a sus hijos, lugares de la casa, amenaza con mensajes que llevan al desespero a los nuevos vecinos.
En el entorno de la casa hay personajes interesantes que alguno que otro me gustó mucho, solo que al acercarse tanto al drama real sentí que no explotaron del todo. Los vecinos básicamente están todos locos, no empatizan ni quieren a los nuevos habitantes y buscan hacerles la vida imposible desesperándoles y confundiéndoles aun mas, ya sea entrando a su casa de forma invasiva o a su patio, incluso hasta con una simple mirada pueden asustar o desestabilizar a la familia.
La hija también es un problema recurrente para el padre ya que está en crecimiento y él comienza a sobrecuidarla con una visión tóxica donde no le permite ni vestirse cómoda ya que la pueden sexualizar. Esto parece una tontería pero forma parte del camino a la locura del padre ya que es algo que lo confunde y altera más, ya que su propia hija comienza a hacer cosas muy peligrosas en su contra.
Dean, el padre, recurre a una investigadora privada para ayudarle con el caso y poco a poco se acercan a alguna solución, pero mientras pasa el tiempo solo suceden cosas que los vuelven a confundir.
El caso real sigue sin resolverse, no se sabe que es lo que pasa pero según lo que sucede en la serie, los vecinos están muy involucrados porque parecen ser una secta que simplemente quiere cuidar esa casa, evitar que la remodelen, no les gustan las mascotas y demás cosas de obsesivos.
Es una serie interesante y curiosa, creo que cada personaje está muy bien hecho, algunos detalles del guion son disparatados como cuando fingen una muerte y de la nada aparecen con otra explicación pero por lo demás hay muchos ideas y conceptos muy bien ejecutados.
Diría que la serie busca mostrarnos como alguien puede confundirse y desestabilizarse con el poder de la palabra escrita, el cómo genera obsesión y ansiedad en alguien desde la misma obsesión.
En algún momento de la serie, las cartas no suman tanta importancia pero no quiere decir que lo que suceda en la casa tenga que ver con The Watcher, entonces la confusión es lógica porque si no conocemos el pasado de una casa y su alrededor fácilmente asociaremos todo con el peligro que recién conocemos.
La disfruté mucho aunque no es de mi estilo, me llevé varios sustos porque es un drama innovador, pero parece de suspenso e incluso con escenas de terror. De hecho, el género que le dan en la búsqueda de Google es terror.
Me encantó ver actuar a Bobby Cannavale con Naomi Watts, ambos son increíbles interpretando y en estos personajes han destacado mucho.
El trabajo del señor Cannavale es sobresaliente porque aunque es una serie ligera y corta, podría decirse que ejecuta todas las emociones negativas, pocas veces se le ve contento y en su mayoría sus ojos están tristes o llenos de rabia, preocupación y confusión.
Debo decir que esperaba que alguien muriera en algún momento de la serie, por toda la mala vibra que se comenzaba a sentir y como todo transcurría, luego fue cuando recordé que estaba basada en hechos reales y me informé un poco más del caso.
Espero puedan disfrutar de esta serie como yo, agradezco la atención de haber leído hasta aquí.
