The Hive Movie/Stealing is Bad (Progress Report)

Hi Everyone,
It’s @thedeltron and @killerwot here with an update on the film project.

After consulting with several industry professionals, we've gained valuable insights into the story and have received some great ideas on how to make the film more marketable. Simultaneously, we’ve received incredible feedback from the Hive community.

While the original script serves as both a homage to Hive and a historical record of the events that shaped this chain, film studios will see it as too promotional. Our intention is not to make an advert or tell a story that markets Hive, to Hivians specifically.

With that in mind, we’ve been re-writing, and reworking the script with guidance and advise from our consultants. Our goal is to create a captivating story that stands on its own; a story that resonates with all audiences, not just Hivians, while naturally showcasing the spirit of Hive.

We are crafting a compelling narrative that draws people in and makes them curious to explore the community and the history of this chain. So we are having a prime focus on a strong character-driven tale that is very much a character driven "rebel alliance" as opposed to a one character, hero centric myth like King Arthur.

We’ve been discussing these changes with a number of Hivians which has been very positive, and we have have been offered support by various people in the community. Some of the support comes at the cost of the script's integrity or changing the character focus to specific community members but these are directions we are not looking to take as it turns the script into promotion and ruins the legitimacy of the story. But, with some of the community, we have hashed out this new direction and from this, we're expanding our creative team to assist with the rewrite - stay tuned for introductions in the coming weeks.

Balancing this project alongside our daily responsibilities is no small task, but we’re fully committed to bringing this new version of the story to life.

This film honors the many individuals who contributed to Hive's history. Some played major roles, others smaller ones—but together, everyone helped write the story we’re proud to tell.

That has always been our main focus with this project.
