Baki Hanma Season 2 Review
Baki is a very well-known action/fighting manga and anime that has been going on for many years. It's actually considered by many as one of the best martial arts manga/anime out there but i beg to differ a bit. Anyway, Netflix took the rights and had some seasons of Baki and thankfully the animation this time was great.
In case you don't know the concept of Baki, in a few words, we have Baki who is the child of the strongest man on Earth. His father killed his mother so basically Baki is seeking revenge and wants to acquire the title of the strongest man himself. Ofc this is not a difficult journey as he has to complete one training after the other and then fight in underground arenas against fighters with different martial arts styles from around the world.
Baki Hanma season 2 takes place after Baki has some victories under his belt and is considered one of the strongest guys on earth but ofc not stronger than his father. The season 2 breaks in 2 different parts. The first part is about some scientists discovering an actual human in ice that was supposed to live alongside the dinosaurs.
They managed to bring him back to life and they give him the name Pickle. Pickle was supposed to be a guy that was actually killing and eating dinosaurs so you can imagine his strength. In the Baki universe that means that the strongest guys around will try and find a way to have a fight with Pickle and compare their strengths.
This is something that's actually happening and ofc the last battle is Pickle with Baki. After that part ends the second part is all about the fight that everybody was waiting for and that's the fight between Baki and his father, but i won't make any spoilers though.
What I Liked
The animation was great and the fights were amazing. if you have never watched Baki though, don't expect every fight to make sense. A lot of fights and moves after a certain point defy logic but after a while you will get used to it as it's happening constantly.
Exactly because of that, the fights are amazing and something different that only this particular anime can offer. Ofc the voice acting was great, the Japanese version i am talking about as i never watch dub versions. Also, the story about Pickle is funny and interesting and the second part which is the fight with his dad is something that basically every fan of the manga/anime was waiting for.
What I Didn't Like
The only negative in my mind is that during the second part there are a lot of unnecessary stuff going on that basically drags everything too much. That makes it quite monotonous until the fight comes up. I also had higher expectations for the fight as well but i can't say i was disappointed though.
At the same time it's not an anime or manga that i am fascinated about nor it gives me something to think about or get excited about like other anime/manga manage to do so. For me it's something that i watch just to kill time, when i am bored and don't want to think about anything. Something that i can simply enjoy eating my food along the way
Esperamos verte pronto nuevamente!
I like the exaggeration in the drawing, I think it's even funny at a certain point.
