Suicide Squad Isekai Anime Review
Hello everyone, it's been a while since i made an anime related post and in general a post due to lack of free time. Sadly i haven't watched a lot of the new anime that aired this and the last season but thankfully and hopefully this can turn out to a good thing as i may have a lot of anime to watch.
So today is Friday and as i have more free time than usual i decided to watch an anime. What caught my eye was the suicide squad Isekai one. I didn't expect to see a DC merging with traditional Japanese animation but hey you only live once as they say.
So apparently this is an original anime produced by Warner Bros Japan and WIT Studio. It will be 10 episodes in total and so far there are 4 out. The plot isn't exactly an ISEKAI i would say, none dies and reborn in another world or travels in another world and that's it. Basically, we get to see Harley and Joker doing their thing while at the same time Amanda Waller the head of A.R.G.U.S is doing her thing and opens a GATE in another world.
A world full of dragons, knights, castles, goblins, ogres and all the beings we have seen in other anime or read in manga and books. So Waller having her own goals and agenda decides to take advantage of the suicide squad and gathers Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Peacemaker, Clayface and King Shark for a job.
So the crew pretty much right from the beginning screw up badly and they are held hostages. At the same time they need to find a way out while the bombs implanted in them are a couple of days away from killing them.
Soon they also realize that they are not against some evil monsters, there is a bigger plot there and some of the enemies are "villains" like them, basically a previous suicide squad that somehow managed to take off the bombs and is now on the opposite side having their own agenda.
Now let's talk about the animation. As you can imagine there must be a huge budget and the animation is quite good and smooth. The voice acting is always top of the line, i am talking about the Japanese version, i don't watch anime English dubbed.
The fight scenes are also quite good and there is blood. The fun element that the suicide squad and each character should have continues in the anime but so far the plot isn't something great or unique. I would say that it's most likely like a fan-made idea rather than something with depth. It's quite enjoyable though and so far i watched the 4 episodes without getting bored. To understand the marketing that lies behind the show they have created a website about it! Btw all the images are from there. Here is the link in case you want to find more info about the anime and the characters https://wwws.warnerbros.co.jp/suicidesquad-isekai/
Ohhhh they made an anime from the suicide squad 😅
Maybe the author wanted to join the Wild Plot Wednesdays that we have here on TAR. 😅 Just joking!
But yeah somewhat unique to use these characters in an anime
The first time I heard the news that they're making an anime based on Suicide Squad, I was pretty hyped, but when the official announcement came out, I lost interest in it. I'm not really a fan of isekai, so I was kinda disappointed with it. But since I'm believer of watch it before you judge it—of 'course, if this anime is finished, I'll try binge-watching it because maybe I'll like it despite my apparent dislike for one of its genres.
