Hello dear friends, I hope you are all well. I hope you are doing the things you love, like painting and drawing. Taking up acrylic painting again, I painted the figure of the Roman general from the movie Gladiator on a Venezuelan banknote. This figure, in my opinion, is the only one that exists after the rubbish that was Gladiator 2. With this bad taste in my mouth after watching that horrible movie, I decided to paint Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Felix Legions. I did it with acrylic paint on a banknote that is no longer valid. I also made a short video where I highlight the step-by-step process until it is finished. Hola queridos amigos, espero que se encuentren muy bien, deseo que estén haciendo las cosas que más les gusta hacer, como pintar y dibujar. Retomando una vez más la técnica de pintura acrílica he pintado sobre un billete venezolano la figura del general romano de la película Gladiador, a mi modo de ver, la única que existe luego del bodrio que fue Gladiador 2. Con este mal sabor luego de ver esa horrible película he decidido pintar a Máximo Décimo Meridio, comandante de las Legiones Félix, lo he hecho con pintura acrílica sobre un billete que ya no tiene valor, he realizado un video corto también donde resalto un poco el paso a paso hasta finalizarlo, no dejen de verlo y espero que les guste.

I chose one of the banknotes in the best condition I have, and in the previous figure, I used white acrylic paint to create the background for the sketch. For the sketch, I simply used a pencil and drew each part of the face.

Elegí uno de los billetes en mejor estado que conservo, y en la figura anterior coloqué pintura acrílica blanca para hacer el fondo y poder hacer el boceto. Para el boceto utilicé simplemente un lápiz y fui haciendo cada parte del rostro.

After the first steps, which were to create a white base for the sketch, I began mixing some colors to paint the skin of the face. Although the painting is small, I plan to give it a lot of color contrast because I want the expression lines to be clearly defined. So I start by mixing a little red, brown, and ochre in white paint. And with these tones, I work on the entire face, some lighter and others darker.

Después de los primeros pasos, que fue hacer una base de color blanco para el boceto, comencé a mezclar algunos colores para pintar la piel del rostro. aunque la pintura es pequeña planeo darle bastante contraste al color porque quiero que queden bien marcadas las líneas de expresión. así que comienzo mezclando en pintura blanca, un poco de color rojo, marrón y también ocre. Y con estos tonos voy trabajando todo el rostro ne unas partes más claras y otras más oscuras.

Next I add details, darkening the color a little more, such as the eyes, and I also add part of the beard towards the darker parts.

Seguidamente voy agregando detalles oscureciendo un poco más el color, como por ejemplo en la parte de los ojos así también voy agregando parte de la barba hacia las partes más oscuras.

Next, I began painting the hair, mixing the brown with a bit of red and also black, to create a tone that matched actor Russell Crowe's hair. I also painted the highlights on the top of the hair, as well as the fur coat he wore with his uniform and part of his armor. This completed the painting.

Después comencé a pintar el cabello, mezclando el color marrón con un poco de rojo y también negro, para sacar un tono acorde al cabello del actor Russell Crowe. También pinte los reflejos de luz sobre la parte superior del cabello, así también el abrigo de piel que llevaba en su uniforme y parte de su armadura. De esta manera quedó finalizado esta pintura.

What did you think of the final result? I think General Maximus deserved to have a bill with his likeness on it, hehe, and this one turned out great. The best epic hero in cinema in recent times, who embodies the highest values ​​a person can aspire to. It's unfortunate that, with all the superhero movies out there, no character is as well-written and masterfully performed as this one. For me, he's a modern-day Ben-Hur, starring Charlton Heston. That's all there is to it. It was a great pleasure to share a bit of my art with you. I'll say goodbye until another opportunity.

Qué les ha parecido el resultado final? creo que el general Máximo se merecía tener un billete con su efigie jejej y esta quedo genial. El mejor héroe épico del cine de los últimos tiempos, que encarna los valores mas supremos que una persona puede aspiras. Es lamentable que en la actualidad con todo lo que existe en el cine de súper héroes ningún personaje este tan bien escrito como este y a la vez magistralmente interpretado, para mi es un moderno Ben Hur, con Charlton Heston. Esto ha sido todo, fue un gran gusto poder compartir con ustedes un poco de mi arte, me despido hasta una nueva oportunidad.
