DEATH MOTH DRAWING- ACHERONTIA (The silence of de lambs) [ENG-ESP]

Hello how are you friends, I hope you are all very well, this time I want to share with you my latest drawing, it is about the moth known as Acherontia, popularly called the Moth of Death. This beautiful creature has had a very bad reputation, especially due to the influence of the movie The Silence of the Innocents, in this movie the serial killer Buffalo Bill used this moth to mark his victims, it really was a very fearsome killer, this movie had great characters, so I wanted to rescue this cute moth and try to take away its bad reputation hehe. Hola que tal amigos, espero que todos se encuentren muy bien, en esta oportunidad quiero compartir con ustedes mi último dibujo, se trata de la polilla conocida como Acherontia, popularmente llamada la Polilla de la Muerte. Esta hermosa criatura ha tenido muy mala fama, especialmente por la influencia de la película El Silencio de los Inocentes, en esta película el asesino en serie Bufalo Bill utilizaba esta polilla para marcar a sus víctimas, realmente fue un asesino muy temible, esta película tuvo grandes personajes, así que yo quise rescatar a esta linda polilla y tratar de quitarle su mala fama jeje. I started with a sketch, using a hard pencil so that the sketch remains simple, a few simple clear lines that are easy to erase later, I made the body, the limbs and also the wings.

Comencé con un boceto, usando un lápiz de punta dura para que el boceto quede sencillo, unas simples líneas claras que luego sean fácil de borrar, hice el cuerpo, las extremidades y también las alas.

I used some brown colors as a base, starting with the lightest part for the bases and then other darker shades. Sometimes it is very difficult to start with the dark parts, so I gradually added color without forgetting that there are parts that are lighter in tone, such as ocher.

Utilicé como base algunos colores café, empezando por la parte más clara para las bases y luego otros tonos más oscuros. A veces es muy difícil comenzar por las partes oscuras, así que fui poniendo color poco a poco sin olvidar que hay partes que van de un tono más claro, como por ejemplo ocre.

Then I start to paint the wings in the same way, using light colors and then darkening, I make some shapes in the line since this moth has a very particular design on its wings in terms of the spots it has. The female and the male differ in the coloration of their wings.

Luego comienzo a pintar las alas de la misma manera, usando colores claros y seguidamente oscureciendo, hago algunas formas en el trazo ya que esta polilla tiene en sus las un diseño muy particular en cuanto a las manchas que tiene. La hembra y el macho se diferencian en la coloración de sus alas.

Then I continued applying more color layer with each stroke until I had an already defined shape, just like that I started to paint the left wing, there are artists who finish their drawings part by part and finally they review the finish, I prefer to cover the entirety of the drawing layer by layer so I don't feel like I'm straying.

Después seguí aplicando más capa de color con cada trazo hasta tener una forma ya definida, solo asím comencé a pintar el ala izquierda, hay dibujantes que van finalizando parte por parte sus dibujos y por último hacen un repaso del acabdo, yo prefiero ir cubriendo la totalidad del dibujo capa por capas para no sentir que me desvío.

Then I finish the fill strokes in terms of color, from now on I will use a very fine brush to blend the colors. The last shades used were dark brown for the spots on the wings, and beige for the lighter areas. Once blended, the contrast can be seen better.

Luego doy por finalizado los trazos de relleno en cuanto al color, de aquí en adelante utilizaré un pincé muy fino para difuminar los colores. Los últimos tonos usados fueron café oscuro para las manchas de las alas, y color beige para las zonas más claras, una vez difuminados se podrá ver mejor el contraste.

Using a soft brush, I blend little by little, part by part, when I finish blending I reapply the same previous colors, I blend again to be able to include one more tone, in this case a brick red color and an ocher yellow, so that the drawing of the moth has good volume and definition, so the drawing is finished.

Utilizando un pincel suave voy difuminando poco a poco parte por parte, al terminar de difuminar vuelvo a aplicar los mismos colores anteriores, vuelvo a difuminar para poder incluir un tono más, enn este caso un color rojo ladrillo y un amarillo ocre, para que el dibujo de la polilla tenga buen volumen y definición, así queda finalizado el dibujo.

This is how my drawing was finished, the Death Moth is a symbol used by the villain of the movie Buffalo Bill to represent the nature of his crimes and the transformation he is undergoing. Have you seen The Silence of the Lambs? I think so, it is a cult film where Mr. Anthony Hopkins showed off his great skills as an actor. Así quedó terminado mi dibujo, la Polilla de la Muerte es un símbolo que utiliza el villano de la película Bufalo Bill para representar la naturaleza de sus crímenes y la transformación que esta sufriendo. HAn visto El Silencio de los Inocentes? yo creo que si, es una película de culto donde el señor Anthony Hopkins hizo gala de sus grandes dotes como actor.
