To start the post, it is a great pleasure to introduce myself to the community and with this first post to bring you a particular film that over time acquired its reputation and more so in the last few months. This is one of the films that stands out for its unique and original approach ‘El Fantasma de Buenos Aires’, directed by Guillermo Grillo and released in 2008. It is a dramatic comedy with supernatural overtones and introduces us to a story that mixes life and death, past and present, through an intriguing plot and characters that make their contribution to the film.
Para dar comienzo al post, un enorme gusto presentarme ante la comunidad y con este primer post traerles una pelicula particular que con el tiempo adquirio su reputacion y mas estos ultimos meses. Esta es una de las películas que se destaca por su enfoque único y original "El Fantasma de Buenos Aires", dirigida por Guillermo Grillo y estrenada en 2008. Es una comedia dramática con tintes sobrenaturales y nos introduce a un relato que mezcla la vida y la muerte, el pasado y el presente, a través de una trama intrigante y personajes que hacen su aporte a la pelicula.
The film tells the story of two main characters: Sebastian, a young man with a passive and rationalistic attitude who lives in Buenos Aires, and the Phantom, a man from the past who was murdered in the 1920s and has been trapped between the worlds of the living and the dead. The film opens when Sebastian, after returning from a nightclub (‘Boliche’ to the Argentinians) decides to play Ouija board with his friends, accidentally manages to contact the Phantom.
Buenos Aires, a city rich in history and culture, becomes another character in the film. The film explores not only the physical corners of the city, but also its temporal etapasses, showing how echoes of the past still resonate in the present. The interaction between Sebastian and the Phantom serves as a bridge between two very different eras of the same city.
La pelicula no cuenta la historia de dos personajes principales: Sebastián, un joven de actitud pasiva y racionalista que vive en la Buenos Aires, y el Fantasma, un hombre del pasado que fue asesinado en la década de 1920 y ha quedado atrapado entre los mundos de los vivos y los muertos. La película se inicia cuando Sebastián, luego de volver una discoteca ( "Boliche" para los argentinos) decide a jugar a la ouija con sus amigos, logra contactar accidentalmente con el Fantasma.
Buenos Aires, una ciudad rica en historia y cultura, se convierte en un personaje más de la película. La película explora no solo los rincones físicos de la ciudad, sino también sus etapass temporales, al mostrar cómo los ecos del pasado aún resunan en el presente. La interacción entre Sebastián y el Fantasma sirve como un puente entre dos épocas muy diferentes de la misma ciudad.
In my opinion, The Phantom of Buenos Aires touches on deep themes such as giving in to certain emotions, the connection between generations, and the influence of the past on the present. The film leads us to think that although times change, certain emotions and human conflicts are universal and timeless. The encounter between Sebastian and the Phantom is a reminder that we all carry with us the stories of those who came before, and that sometimes, in order to move forward, we must reconcile with the past. Can you imagine being in that situation?
La resolución de la película se centra en la revelación de la verdad sobre la muerte del Fantasma. A medida que Sebastián y el Fantasma investigan juntos, descubren una trama de traición y amor que llevó a la muerte del Fantasma. Al desentrañar este misterio, no solo logran darle paz al alma en pena, sino que también permiten que Sebastián crezca como persona.
En mi opinion, El Fantasma de Buenos Aires toca temas profundos como la ceder a ciertas emociones , la conexión entre generaciones, y la influencia del pasado en el presente. La película nos lleva a pensar que aunque los tiempos cambian, ciertas emociones y conflictos humanos son universales y atemporales. El encuentro entre Sebastián y el Fantasma es un recordatorio de que todos llevamos con nosotros las historias de aquellos que vinieron antes, y que a veces, para avanzar, debemos reconciliarnos con el pasado. ¿ Se imaginan estar en esa situacion?

Por suerte la película está disponible en Youtube y le traigo la información de que el propio director responde a los mensajes en la caja de comentarios y agradece mucho las palabras y críticas que le pueden dejar sobre la película. Ha pasado tiempo desde su estreno pero en los últimos meses gracias a un Reel en instagram está teniendo su merecido reconocimiento. ¡Gracias!
