[ENG/ESP] CineTV Contest: Jack Frost

Surfing the world of @hive, I found this initiative that I really liked and I have decided to participate, but, before I continue, I would like to invite @yirkahr and @estelacha to participate and leave us their writing, which I hope will be very good.

After this invitation I leave you my work.

There are movies that mark you for life for different reasons and, if they are related to a personal experience or something you are living, then you get much more inside, and that is the case of the film that has marked me, especially since two years ago when I saw it for the first time, when it was recommended to me because of the resemblance it has with my life.

The film is called Jack Frost and is based on a family story, in which Jack Frost is a singer and because of his work he travels most of the time and cannot spend much time with his son and wife.

On one of those trips he dies in a traffic accident, which leaves the boy very sad.

Shortly thereafter, Jack returns reincarnated as a snowman who talks to the boy, plays with him, gives him advice and takes it upon himself to make the boy's life less sad. Towards the end of the film, summer arrives and the snowman melts, so Charlie is left without the father reincarnated in the snowman, but who had already given him several tips and many keys to conduct himself in life.

It stars Michael Keaton and Kelly Preston as Charlie's parents, played by Joseph Cross.

This movie has marked me a lot because I have a daughter who is 15 years old and when she was two years old I separated from her mother. This is normal and happens in couples who are married. But, my grave mistake was to stop giving her the love and affection that this child deserved. I missed the most tender moments of her life and I was not always there to support her and help her emotionally.

I thought that by sending her money I was fulfilling my duty as a father, when, in fact, I was not assuming the paternal role that is required or, better said, has to be fulfilled.

I forgot to spend most of the time by his side because lost time cannot be recovered. I let anger and pride take precedence over parental love, and the consequences were paid for by my child, who lacked my love and only received glimpses of the affection I gave her.

By assuming that position, I was not sowing a good legacy about the importance and value we should give to family.

Now that I am away from her, I try to communicate every day, take an interest in her problems, advise her on the things she asks of me and help her in whatever way I can. But, I am in another country and I feel a bit like that snowman that dies for her when it melts.

For this reason, from my experience I ask people to watch this movie and to reflect on the importance of the relationship of parents with their children and to give them all the love they need and communicate all the time, as well as to value the importance of being together most of the time.

Hay películas que te marcan para toda la vida por diferentes razones y, si tienen relación con una experiencia personal o algo que estés viviendo, entonces te llega mucho más adentro y, ese es el caso de la película que me ha marcado, sobre todo, desde hace dos años que la vi por primera vez, cuando me la recomendaron por el parecido que tiene con mi vida.

La película se llama Jack Frost y se basa en una historia familiar, en la que Jack Frost es un cantante y por su trabajo viaja la mayor parte del tiempo y no puede estar mucho tiempo con su hijo y su esposa.

En uno de esos viajes muere en un accidente de tránsito, lo que deja al niño muy triste.

Poco tiempo después, Jack regresa reencarnado en un muñeco de nieve que conversa con el niño, juega, le da consejos y se encarga de hacer menos triste la vida del niño. Hacia la parte final de la película llega el verano y el muñeco se derrite, por lo que Charlie se queda sin el padre reencarnado en el muñeco, pero que, ya, le había dado varios consejos y muchas claves para conducirse en la vida.

Está protagonizada por Michael Keaton y Kelly Preston como los padres de Charlie, interpretado por Joseph Cross.

Esta película me ha marcado mucho porque tengo una hija que tiene 15 años y cuando tenía dos años me separé de su mamá. Esto es normal y ocurre en parejas que están casadas. Pero, mi grave error fue dejar de darle el amor y el cariño que esa niña merecía. Me perdí los momentos más tiernos de su vida y no siempre estuve ahí para apoyarla y ayudarla sentimentalmente.

Pensé que al enviarle dinero estaba cumpliendo con mi deber de padre, cuando, en realidad, no estaba asumiendo el rol paterno que se exige o, mejor dicho, se tiene que cumplir.

Me olvidé de estar la mayor parte del tiempo a su lado porque el tiempo perdido no se recupera. Dejé que la rabia y la soberbia estuvieran por encima del amor de padre, y las consecuencias las pagó mi niña, que estuvo carente de mi amor y solo recibió destellos del cariño que le daba.

Al asumir esa posición, no estaba sembrando un buen legado sobre la importancia y el valor que le debemos dar a la familia.

Ahora que estoy lejos de ella, intento comunicarme todos los días, interesarme en sus problemas, la aconsejo en las cosas que me pide y la ayudo en lo que puedo. Pero, estoy en otro país y me siento un poco como ese muñeco de nieve que muere para ella cuando se derrite.

Por tal razón, desde mi experiencia le pido a las personas que vean esta película y que reflexionen sobre la importancia de la relación de los padres con sus hijos y darles todo el amor que ellos necesitan y comunicarse todo el tiempo, además de valorar la importancia de estar juntos la mayor parte del tiempo.
