Hello to everyone in the Movies & TVShows community and the #Hive platform in general. Today I'm going to share with you a review of a movie I recently saw. It's called Guardians of the High Seas (originally titled The Guardian). This film is a 2006 production, a story of adventure, drama and action, which was directed by filmmaker Andrew Davis, while the screenplay was written by Ron L. Brinkerhoff.

Hola a todos en la comunidad Movies & TVShows y la plataforma de #Hive en general. El día de hoy les voy a compartir una reseña de una película que vi recienmente. La misma se llama Guardianes de alta mar (película titulada originalmente como: The Guardian). Este filme es una producción del año 2006,una historia de aventura, drama y acción, que fue dirigida por el cineasta Andrew Davis, mientras que el guion estuvo a cargo de Ron L. Brinkerhoff.

TRAMA

The story of the film is about Ben Randall, a Coast Guard salvage worker who lost his buddies on a deep-sea mission, so to get over the trauma of the experience, he was sent as an instructor to train new members of the US Coast Guard salvage workers. Ben (played by Kevin Costner) is a legendary member of the Coast Guard, who holds all the records and does his job to the best of his ability, always trying not to leave anyone behind, in a job that is not easy, it is high risk. Jake Fischer (Ashton Kutcher), who is a young man who wants to become the best rescuer, gets into the training, he wants to beat all Ben's records, being one of the best (if not the best), although he has a behavior that is not ideal, he is a pretty arrogant guy, but as the story goes we realize why Jake is like that. As I have always said, we are no one to judge people, we must know the background behind each person.

La historia del filme nos habla sobre Ben Randall, un rescatista de la guardia costera, quien perdió a sus compañeros en una misión de alta mar, por lo cual para pasar el trauma de la experiencia vivida, fue enviado como un instructor para entrenar a los nuevos integrantes de rescatistas de la Guardia Costera de los Estados Unidos. Ben (interpretado por Kevin Costner) es un legendario miembro de la Guardia Costera, quien posee todos los récord, además de que hace su labor de la mejor manera posible, siempre trata no dejar atrás a nadie, en un trabajo que no es fácil, tiene un alto riesgo. Jake Fischer (Ashton Kutcher), quien es un joven quien desea convertirse en el mejor rescatador, se mete en el entrenamiento, quiere superar todos los récord de Ben, siendo uno de los mejores (si no es que no el mejor), aunque este tiene una conducta que no es la ideal, es un chico bastante arrogante, pero al pasar la historia nos damos cuenta del porqué Jake es así. Como siempre he dicho, no somos nadie para juzgar a las personas, debemos conocer los trasfondos detrás de cada persona.

How do I like the plot? This film has an interesting story that in my personal opinion was well executed and worth watching. The film shows us the work of the coast guard, the rescues they perform on the high seas, how each of them put their lives in danger and are often underestimated. For this reason, the film shows the hard training for the new graduates to be able to do the job, to save people and not put their own lives and those of their colleagues at risk. This film reminds me of Men of Honour, mainly because of the tough training, because the main story has its differences, because Men of Honour is about fighting racism when a black marine wanted to become a diver, while this one shows more the hard work of the Guardians of Love, those who rescue people who are in trouble.

¿Qué tal me parece la trama? Esta película tiene una interesante historia que desde mi opinión personal fue bien ejecutada y vale la pena verla. La película nos muestra la labor de la guardia costera, los rescates que realizan en alta mar, como cada uno de ellos ponen sus vidas en peligro y muchas veces son menospreciados. Por esta razón es que el filme muestra el duro entrenamiento para que los nuevos, quienes logren graduarse, pueda realizar la labor, salvar a las personas y no poner en riesgo sus propias vidas y las de sus compañeros. Esta película me recuerda Hombres de honor, sobre todo por el rudo entrenamiento, porque la historia principal tiene sus diferencias, porque Hombres de Honor trata sobre lucha por el racismo cuando un marine de color se quería convertir en buzo, mientras que esta nos muestra más la dura labor de los Guardianes del amar, aquellos quienes rescatan a las personas que se encuentran en problemas.

Ben Randall is a very experienced man, the best in the Coast Guard, who tries to teach newcomers the hard work, with the simple reason that they should be the best, save people and get out alive. A tough character, but at the same time she cared about the good of others, so much so that she grew very fond of Jake. What better opportunity to talk about the cast than this one, since Kevin Costner did a great job with his character, he did a great job. This is an actor that I really enjoy watching his films because I know that in general he is never going to let us down. Ashton Kutcher who played Jake also did a great job, I think this duo of main characters was pretty good, they knew how to connect very well with their characters and they knew how to transmit them to the audience.

Ben Randall es un hombre con bastante experiencia, el mejor dentro de la guardia costera, quien trata de enseñarles a los nuevos lo duro del trabajo, con la sencilla razón para que fuesen los mejores, salvaran a las personas y pudieran salir con vidas. Un personaje duro, pero que a la vez la interesaba el bien de los demás, tanto así que le llegó agarrar mucho cariño a Jake. Qué mejor oportunidad para hablarles del cast que está, puesto que Kevin Costner realizó un gran trabajo con su personaje, logró realizar una gran labor. Este es un actor que me gusta mucho ver sus películas porque sé que en general nunca nos va a decepcionar. Ashton Kutcher quien interpretó a Jake también hizo un gran trabajo, creo que esta dupla de personajes principales estuvo bastante bien, supieron conectar muy bien con sus personajes y se los supieron transmitir al público.

The direction by Andrew Davis was quite accurate, the same with the script written by Ron L. Brinkerhoff, although it has its details, but nothing that has ruined the experience with the film. The cinematography is another highlight of The Guardian, the film represents very well what the story wants to convey, with great scenes, even with a great film that personally I never imagined, but we know that these kinds of films can conclude the way it did. We also found very beautiful places, but the highlight was the representation of the high seas, where the rescues took place, how they showed the big waves, the boats, how these heroes jump into the sea to do what they were trained to do. The sea scenes were the best we are going to find in the production. The soundtrack was good, although I must say that it was the least outstanding of all, but at least it was good.

La dirección por parte de Andrew Davis estuvo bastante acertada, lo mismo con el guion escrito por Ron L. Brinkerhoff, aunque este tiene sus detalles, pero nada que haya arruinado la experiencia con la película. La fotografía es otro de los aspectos más destacado de The Guardian, la película representa muy bien lo que la historia quiere transmitir, con grandes escenas, incluso con un gran filme que en lo personal nunca me imaginé, pero sabemos que estas clases de filmes puede llegar a concluir de la forma que sucedió. También nos encontramos con lugares muy hermosos, pero lo más destacado fue la representación de la alta mar, donde se realizaban los rescates, como mostraron las grandes olas, las embarcaciones, como saltan estos héroes al mar para realizar para lo que fueron entrenados. Las escenas del mar fueron lo mejor que vamos a encontrar en la producción. La banda sonora fue buena, aunque debo decir que de todo fue lo menos destacado, pero al menos cumplió.

The Guardian is a good movie, a drama, action and adventure that shows us the dangers and the training that the US Coast Guard rescue workers go through, all the work they do and even risk their lives to save other people. The film has some great scenes that show us how terrifying this work can be, but we know how professional the rescuers are and all the training they go through. The dialogue in general seems good to me, it has its details, but nothing that is so bad as to ruin the experience, what I would highlight is Costner, a tough man but at the same time the sweetness to his role. The cinematography is great, it represents faithfully what the central story is trying to tell.

The Guardian es una buena película que vale la pena, un drama, acción y aventura que nos muestran los peligros y el entrenamiento que pasan los encargados de los rescates de la Guardia costera de los Estados Unidos, toda la labor que realizar e incluso arriesgan sus vidas para salvar a otras personas. Una película que cuentan con grandes escenas que nos muestra lo aterrador que puede ser esta labor, pero sabemos lo profesional que son los rescatistas y por todo los entrenamientos que pasan. Los diálogos en general me parecen buenos, tiene sus detalles, pero nada que sea tan mal como para arruinar la experiencia, lo que sí destacaría es a Costner, un hombre duro pero que a la vez la dulzura a su papel. La fotografía es genial, representa fielmente lo que se quiere narrar de la historia central.

This film gives us the message that the Coast Guard is often not given the same respect as other branches of the U.S. military, despite the difficult job and the great training they have. We can appreciate other things within the story, but this is what I feel stands out the most. I would give The Guardian a score of 9/10, it is a film that, as I said earlier, is worth watching 19 years after its release.

Este filme nos da el mensaje que la Guardia Costera muchas veces no tienen el mismo respeto que las otras ramas del ejército de los Estados Unidos, a pesar de la difícil labor y el gran entrenamiento que estos tienen. Podemos apreciar otras cosas dentro de la historia, pero esto es lo que siento que más se resalta. La puntuación que le daría a The Guardian es de 9/10, es una película que, como les dije anteriormente, vale la pena verla luego de 19 años de su emisión.
