Science fiction is another of my favorite genres in the world of movies and TV series. That's where A Space Between Us, a film that came out in 2017, being its director Peter Chelsom, while the script was in charge of Peter Chelsom, Allan Loeb and Tinker Lindsay. I saw this film a while ago and the truth is that I liked it, it has its interesting things. A few days ago I had some free time and I thought about watching a good movie, I was looking for it until I decided to watch this film again.

La ciencia ficción es otro de mis géneros favoritos en el mundo de las películas y las series de TV. Allí es donde Un espacio entre nosotros, una película que salió en el año 2017, siendo su director Peter Chelsom, mientras que el guion estuvo a cargo de Peter Chelsom, Allan Loeb y Tinker Lindsay. Este filme lo vi hace un tiempo y la verdad es que me gustó, tiene sus cosas interesantes. Hace días estuvo tuvo un rato libre y pensé en ver una buena película, estuve buscando hasta que decidí ver nuevamente esta cinta cinematográfica.

What better than watching a science fiction movie, where teenage romance is the main plot, as this type of film can bring us interesting messages, since when we fall in love when we are young, it can be completely different from what we initially thought. It can also be the case that we find our first love and we are destined to be together. Such is the case of the story we see in the film, of course it is not all about romance, our characters are also looking for other things and that is where we see a good development of the main characters, how they are at the beginning and how they end up being at the end of the film.

Que mejor que ver una película de ciencia ficción, donde el romance en adolescentes es la trama principal, ya que este tipo de filme nos pueden traer mensajes interesantes, puesto que cuando nos enamoramos de jóvenes, puede ser completamente distinto a lo que pensamos inicialmente. También se puede dar el caso de encontrar nuestro primer amor y que estemos destinados a estar juntos. Tal es el caso de la historia que vemos en el filme, claro que no todo se trata del romance, también nuestros personajes buscan otras cosas y allí es donde vemos un buen desarrollo de los personajes protagónicos, como son al principio y como terminan siendo al final de la película.

The plot of the movie tells us about Gardner, a boy who had to live on the planet Mars since his birth, so he is a pretty smart guy because he grew up with NASA engineers. But, this boy is very interested in knowing how is life on earth, to know more about his mother, who died giving birth to him, to know his father, but mainly on the way of this trip he meets a girl named Tulsa, of whom he falls deeply in love and wants to go to meet her.

La trama de la película nos habla sobre Gardner, un chico que debió vivir en el planeta Marte desde su nacimiento, por lo cual es un chico bastante inteligente porque se crio con ingenieros de la NASA. Pero, este chico tiene mucho interés de conocer como es la vida en la tierra, conocer más de su madre, quien murió al darlo a luz, conocer a su padre, pero principalmente en el camino de este viaje conoce a una chica llamada Tulsa, de la cual se enamora profundamente y quiere ir a conocerla.

The two main characters of the film have different personalities. On the one hand, we have Gardner Elliot, an intelligent boy, with good feelings, kind to everyone. While Tulsa is a girl with a rather complicated personality, rebellious, who has gone through a lot, since she has no parents and before coming of age, she had to go through several families, which did not want her, they just had her for monetary help. But despite the differences, they also have things in common, as neither know their parents, have spent a childhood without these two people who are important in our lives.

Los dos personajes principales de la película tiene unas personalidades distintas. Por un lado, tenemos a Gardner Elliot, un chico inteligente, de buenos sentimientos, amable con todos. Mientras que Tulsa es una chica con una personalidad bastante complicada, rebelde, quien ha pasado por mucho, ya que no tiene padres y antes de cumplir la mayoría de edad, tuvo que pasar por varias familias, la cual no la querían, simplemente la tenían por la ayuda monetaria. Pero a pesar de las diferencias, también tiene cosas en común, como que ninguno conocen a sus padres, han pasado una infancia sin estos dos personas que son importantes en nuestras vidas.

The plot of this movie can be seen as very similar to other movies, but as it progresses we can realize that it has some interesting things that make it particular. I really like that it has a touch of suspense, like knowing who Gardner's father is, if he will be able to get him and what things he will have to go through to achieve it. Really an ending that can surprise us and personally I can tell you that I liked it, it is not the best that is seen as a movie concludes, but it is a satisfactory ending.

La trama de esta película la podemos ver como que es muy parecidas a otras películas, pero a medida que avanza nos podemos dar cuenta que tiene sus cosas interesantes y que la hacen particular. Me gusta mucho que tiene un toque de suspenso, como conocer quién es el padre de Gardner, que si lo podrá conseguir y qué cosas tendrá que pasar para lograrlo. Realmente un final que nos puede llegar a sorprender y en lo personal les puedo decir que me gustó, no es lo mejor que es visto como concluye una película, pero sí es un final satisfactorio.

The plot of the film was very critical, but personally I liked it. What I do think is a success for everyone is the photography and the different scenarios where the film is shot. Everything is very well done and with great care. This movie is set in a time where technology is much more advanced than today, something that gives it a futuristic touch. The visual effects is another plus that we will find in A Space Between Us. Regarding the soundtrack, we see good music, most of it is moving, since during the trip Tulsa and Gardner must go through a lot, but we also see romantic and also sentimental scenes, with musical themes that make us feel the moment we are watching.

La trama de la película fue muy crítica, pero en lo personal a mí me gustó. Lo que sí creo que es un acierto para todos es la fotografía y los diferentes escenarios donde se rueda la película. Todo muy bien realizado y con mucho cuidado. Esta película está ambientada en una época donde la tecnología está mucho más avanzada que la actualidad, algo que le da un toque futurista. Los efectos visuales es otro punto a favor que vamos a encontrar en Un espacio entre nosotros. En lo que respecta a la banda sonora, vemos buenas músicas, la mayoría son movidas, ya que durante el viaje Tulsa y Gardner deben pasar por mucho, pero también vemos escenas románticas y también sentimentales, con temas musicales que nos hacen sentir el momento que estamos viendo.

The British actor Asa Butterfield was the one who gave life to the role of Gardner Elliot, doing in my opinion a great job, at times the film gives us funny moments with this character and this actor knew how to capture it very well on the screen. Britt Robertson was the actress who played Tulsa, doing a great job, although I feel that a little less than Asa, with whom I could connect more with their characters. The movie has a good cast, each one playing their role, apart from those already mentioned I must also highlight Gary Oldman as Nathaniel Shepard, Carla Gugino as Kendra Wyndham, among others.

El actor británico Asa Butterfield fue quien le dio vida al papel de Gardner Elliot, haciendo en mi opinión un gran trabajo, por momento la película nos da momentos divertidos con este personaje y este actor lo supo plasmar muy bien a la pantalla. Britt Robertson fue la actriz que hizo de Tulsa, haciendo un gran trabajo, aunque siento que un poco en menor medida que Asa, con la cual pude conectar más con sus personajes. La película tiene un buen cast, cada uno interpretando su papel, aparte de los ya mencionados también debo destacar a Gary Oldman como Nathaniel Shepard, Carla Gugino como Kendra Wyndham, entre otras más.

A Space Between Us may not be the best movie of the genre, but it has some elements that make it interesting. The main genre is science fiction and romance, but we can also find some comedy and suspense, which makes it enjoyable to watch. The plot is not perfect, but I feel it was well handled for what they wanted to show, with very moving scenes, but also others full of tenderness and sentimentality. The cinematography is one of the best we can find in the film, as well as the direction by Peter Chelsom, with very well done shots and shots that are always a pleasure to see in productions.

Opinión final

Un espacio entre nosotros tal vez no sea la mejor película del género, pero tiene algunos elementos que lo hacen interesante. El género principal es la ciencia ficción y el romance, pero también podemos encontrar algo de comedia y suspenso, lo que la hace agradable de ver. La trama no es perfecta, pero siento que fue bien llevada para lo que quisieron mostrar, con escenas muy movidas, pero también otras llenas de ternura y de sentimentales. La fotografía es de lo mejor que podemos encontrar en la película, además de la dirección por parte de Peter Chelsom, con unas tomas y planos muy bien realizados y que siempre da gusto ver en las producciones.

This movie is no more than a 7.5, a good film with which we can have a good time, a pretty good story, but it could have been better developed. Do I recommend it? Of course I do, it is a two-hour training film and that genre lovers can be entertained, it all depends on the taste of the viewer and if they connect or not with the story.

Esta película no es más que un 7.5, un buen filme con la cual podemos pasar un rato agradable, una historia bastante buena pero que pudo ser mejor desarrollada. ¿La recomiendo? Claro que sí, es una película de dos horas de entretemiento y que los amantes del género se pueden llegar a entretener, todo depende del gusto del espectador y si conectan o no con la historia.
