Today I bring you a series that I saw days ago, but I had not had the opportunity to tell you about my experience with it. The series is called The Wheel of Time, which consists of a total of three seasons, where the third one is still on air. The first and second seasons have a total of 8 episodes and the last one, as far as I have read, has six, and I only saw it up to the third episode. The production is directed by several directors, which is quite common in series, where the creator is Rafe Judkins (Creator).

Hoy día les traigo una serie que vi hace días, pero no había tenido la oportunidad de comentarles mi experiencia con la misma. La serie se llama La rueda del tiempo, que consta de un total de tres temporadas, donde la tercera aún está en emisión. La primera y segunda temporada un total de 8 capítulos y la última, por lo que leí van seis, donde a penas la vi hasta el tercer episodio. La dirección de la producción está a cargo de varios directores, que bastante común en las series, donde el creador es Rafe Judkins (Creador).

This series is a medieval fantasy genre that tells us about a world where magic exists, but not everyone can use it, only some women and these form an organization. In this world there are many wars, different organisations fighting each other, but we also have the ‘Dragon Reborn’, a very powerful figure, who has great powers that many want to use to achieve their goals, some for the good of humanity, but others not so much. There is a prophecy that says that the ‘Dragon Reborn’ will either save or destroy mankind, as he has a tendency to go mad and often has no control over his power. There we have a series of five young people who may be the ones who possess such power. At the end of the season it is revealed who it is. I don't want to give anything away, but I must say that I personally imagined who it was, it was quite predictable.

Esta serie es del género de fantasía medieval que nos habla sobre un mundo donde existe la magia, pero no todo el mundo puede usarla, tan solo algunas mujeres y estas forma una organización. En este mundo hay bastantes guerras, diferentes organizaciones que luchan entre ellas, pero también tenemos al "Dragón Renacido", una figura bastante poderosa, que tiene grandes poderes que muchos quieren usarlos para lograr sus objetivos, varios por el bien de la humanidad, pero otros no tanto. Hay una profecía que dice que 'el dragón renacido' salvará o destruirá a la humanidad, puesto que tiene a volverse loco y muchas veces no tiene control de su poder. Allí tenemos una serie de cinco jóvenes que puede ser los que poseen tal poder. Al final de la temporada se desvela quién es. No quiero adelantar nada, pero debo decir que en lo personal me imaginaba quién, fue bastante previsible.

In this series we have several characters, where one of them is Moraine, a member of the Aes Sedai group, a woman who possesses magic and undertakes the search for ‘the dragon reborn’ to teach him to use his powers so that he does not fall into madness and can save humanity. We also have al'Lan Mandragoran, the guardian of Moiraine, as these women are protected by men who may not have magic, but do have great physical fighting ability. Among the main characters we have Rand al'Thor, a young farmer who is among the possible ‘dragon reborn’. We also have Perrin Aybara, Nynaeve al'Meara, among others. The truth is that my favourite characters were the three mentioned at the beginning.

En esta serie tenemos varios personajes, donde uno de ella es Moraine, miembro del grupo Aes Sedai, una mujer que posee magia y emprende la búsqueda de “el dragón renacido” para enseñarlo a usar sus poderes para que este no entrara en la locura y pudiera salvar la humanidad. También tenemos a al'Lan Mandragoran, el guardián de Moiraine, pues que estas mujeres son protegidas por hombres que tal vez no tiene magia, pero sí una gran habilidad física para luchar. Entre los personajes principales tenemos a Rand al'Thor, un joven granjero que está entre los posibles de ser “el dragón renacido”. También tenemos a Perrin Aybara, Nynaeve al'Meara, entre otros más. La verdad es que mis personajes favoritos fueron los tres mencionados al inicio.

The story of this series leaves me with mixed feelings, a production of which I expected a lot because it is based on a story that has many readers, because The Wheel of Time is a literary work written by Robert Jordan, which the truth is that it had a lot of potential, I got to read some parts and the truth is that I was surprised, although I must say that I did not read everything. At least I had an idea of what to expect, but the reality is that it was not what I expected. The plot didn't have the necessary depth for the development of the main characters, often focusing on the less important parts of the books. Of course we know that adaptations are never faithful to the books, but personally I think they ruined a great story, it looked generic, many things happened too fast, killing the interest I had in the plot I was watching.

La historia de esta serie me deja sentimientos encontrados, una producción de la cual me esperaba mucho pues esta basada en una historia que tiene muchos lectores, pues La rueda del tiempo es una obra literaria escrita por Robert Jordan, que la verdad es que tenía bastante potencial llegue a leer algunas partes y la verdad es que me sorprendió, aunque debo decir que no me leí todo. Al menos tenía una idea de lo que me podría esperar, pero la realidad es que no fue lo que me esperaba. La trama no tenía la profundidad necesaria para el desarrollo de los personajes principales, muchas veces se centraban en lo menos importante de lo que reseñaban los libros. Si claro sabemos que las adaptaciones nunca son fiel a los libros, pero en lo personal creo que arruinaron una gran historia, se veía genérica, muchas cosas pasaban demasiado rápido, matando el interés que tenía sobre la trama que estaba viendo.

The series in terms of story and dialogue is very confusing, it has good fights, it has good humour at times, drama, adventure and more, but very wasted. I thought the performances of several actors were great, but the story itself, how it was told and the dialogue didn't help in many ways, but that's not to discredit the work of the cast, which overall was pretty good. I liked the work of Rosamund Pike as Moraine, Daniel Henney as al'Lan Mandragoran and Josha Stradowski as Rand al'Thor. As far as the cinematography is concerned, I think the series is on another level, especially with the set design, as they captured the locations where the story took place very well. Personally, I like medieval films and that's one of the things I loved most about The Wheel of Time. However, I think that the CGI they used was not up to the level of some of the characters.

La serie en cuanto a la historia y los diálogos es muy confuso, tiene buenas peleas, tiene buen humor por momento, drama, aventura y más, pero muy desaprovechado. Las actuaciones de varios actores me parecieron geniales, pero la historia en sí, como se contó y los diálogos, no ayudaron en muchas cosas, pero tampoco es para desacreditar el trabajo de cast que en general fue bastante bueno. Me gustó el trabajo de Rosamund Pike como Moraine, Daniel Henney como al'Lan Mandragoran y Josha Stradowski como Rand al'Thor. En lo que respecta a la fotografía me parece que la serie está a otro nivel, sobre todo con la escenografía, ya que plasmaron muy bien los lugares donde se desarrollaron la historia. En lo personal me gustan las películas medievales y es una de las cosas que más me encantó de La ruleta del tiempo. Ahora bien, creo que el CGI que usaron no estuvo a la altura de algunos personajes.

Los efectos especiales de las peleas cuando se usaban magia, si que me gustó. En lo que respecta a la banda sonora, se puede decir que es bastante buena, al menos cumple. En fin esta serie tiene sus cosas positivas y negativas, creo que lo bueno supera a lo malo, pero la mala adaptación de la historia y dialogos argumentales que muchas veces no van a ningún lado, arruinaron lo que podría ser una gran serie. Lo más resaltado fueron la fotografía, algunos efectos especiales cuando se usaban magia, pero el CGI con que se crearon algunos personajes secundarios, no estuvo a la altura, si ven la serie creo que me pueden llegar a entender. Por cierto que los vestuarios también me gustaron muchos.

Do I recommend the series? Well, I think you can find some good things about this production, if not perfect, it has its bad details in the plot and script, but it also has its funny moments, with good fights that are worth appreciating. It has a mixture of a medieval series where they give it a touch of fantasy with magic and certain creatures that are presented. Well, if you like this kind of series, you can have a good time, but I say that personally I think that we should not have the bar too high because we may be disappointed with some things. This, according to my experience, someone else might get it perfect. If I were to rate it a 7/10.

¿Recomiendo la serie? Pues creo que se pueden encontrar cosa buena de esta producción, si no es perfecta, tiene sus malos detalles en la trama y el guion, pero también tiene sus momentos divertidos, con buenas peleas que valen la pena apreciar. Tiene una mezcla de una serie medieval donde le dan el toque de fantasía con la magia y ciertas criaturas que se presentan. Pues si te gusta esta clase de series, puedes pasar un rato agradable, pero te digo que en lo personal creo que no debemos tener la vara muy alta porque tal vez nos decepcionemos con algunas cosas. Esto, de acuerdo a mi experiencia, puede que otra persona si la consiga perfecta. Si la tendría que puntuar serie un 7/10.
