Hola amantes del cine en esta preciosa comunidad de hive, espero esté muy bien el día de hoy, en esta ocasión les comparto mi reseña sobre ésta película bastante famosa no solo por su increíble reparto que va desde Brad Pitt y Tom Cruise hasta Antonio Banderas y que destaca por su excelentes visuales, drama e historia que nos ilustra lo que sería haber sido un vampiro en los años en los 1700s, la constante necesidad de beber sangre, el deseo de poder, la vida eterna y la traición. Hello movie lovers in this beautiful community of hive, I hope you are very well today, this time I share with you my review of this movie quite famous not only for its incredible cast ranging from Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise to Antonio Banderas and noted for its excellent visuals, drama and story that illustrates what it would have been like to have been a vampire in the years in the 1700s, the constant need to drink blood, the desire for power, the eternal life and betrayal. Hablemos un poco sobre lo que va ésta película, nos remontamos a los 80s en donde un periodista tiene un encuentro sobrenatural con un vampiro y el cual desea contarle toda su historia y experiencias de sus 200 años de ser un vampiro, a medida que vamos conociendo su historia podemos ver como la muerte y la enfermedad dejan de ser el problema principal de esta especie y he ahí el problema ya que de ahí nace las ansias de poder y el beber sangre.

En esta película de género horror gótico cuenta con un reparto que une a dos grandes actores del mundo del cine, Brad Pitt y Tom Cruise pero esto no se queda ahí ya que en el también contamos con más actores y actrices reconocidos mundialmente cómo Antonio Banderas, Kristen Dunst, Christian Slater, Stephen Rea y entre otros más que nos brinda grandes actuaciones con personajes complejos y llenos de mucha historia.

Un drama con estilo victoriano nos muestra la vida y toda la historia del vampiro Louis (Brad Pitt) quien luego de perder a su esposa y a su hija durante el parto decide que ya no desea vivir más y en una sus noches derrochando su fortuna y en la cual se ve atacado por un ladrón tiene su primer encuentro con un vampiro llamado Lestat el cual lo salva del robo pero le propone un trato para dejar que deje atrás su sufrimiento y dolor y viva para siempre, Louis en un momento de vida o muerte decide aceptar sin saber realmente las consecuencias que traería el aliarse con Lestat y pasar sus incontables días junto a el.

La película estrenada en 1994 se encuentra disponible en la plataforma de HBO MAX (Venezuela) y además también se encuentra disponible en cualquier página de películas, se encuentra doblada al español y subtitulada. Uno de mis monstruos favoritos dentro de las películas y la ficción siempre fueron los vampiros, me encanta el misticismo y el constante cuestionamiento de su existencia, las diferentes habilidades que pueden tener y toda la historia detrás de lo que los puede matar además de la forma en la que beben sangre, está película siempre me llamo la atención por ello pero no me convencía lo suficiente como para verla, aunque hace muchos años llegué a ver escenas sin mucho contexto de lo que estuviera pasando, aún así ayer decidí darle una oportunidad y verla de una vez por todas y desde que comenzó me encantó la forma en la que grabaron las escenas, el reparto me pareció fantástico y a medida que la iba viendo no podía dejar de emocionarme con esa conmovedora historia y sobretodo por el personaje principal Louis, el cual pasa su vida inmortal siendo un preso en su propia maldición llamada inmortalidad, la forma en la que sufría y no era suficiente para el beber sangre de animales, como peleaba por evitar su instinto natural y por supuesto no podemos dejar de lado a Lestat, un vampiro orgulloso de su estatus llenándose el estómago de la sangre de la gente inocente sin pensar dos veces en esas personas, un vampiro el cual estaba contento de haber encontrado a un compañero tan distinguido como Louis pero el cual odiaba ver como éste deseaba haber muerto en vez de ser inmortal.

One of my favorite monsters in movies and fiction have always been vampires, I love the mysticism and the constant questioning of their existence, the different abilities they can have and the whole story behind what can kill them and the way they drink blood, this movie always caught my attention but I was not convinced enough to see it, although many years ago I got to see scenes without much context of what was happening, even so yesterday I decided to give it a chance and see it once and for all and since it started I loved the way they recorded the scenes, I found the cast fantastic and as I was watching it I couldn't stop being moved by that touching story and above all by the main character Louis, who spends his immortal life being a prisoner in his own curse called immortality, the way he suffered and it wasn't enough for him to drink animal blood, the way he fought to avoid his instinct and the way he was suffering and it was not enough for him to drink animal blood, how he fought to avoid his natural instinct and of course we can't leave out Lestat, a vampire proud of his status filling his stomach with the blood of innocent people without thinking twice about those people, a vampire who was happy to have found such a distinguished companion as Louis but who hated to see how he wished he had died instead of being immortal.

La escenografía es increíble, siempre he sido fan de los escenarios históricos o con temática victoriana ya que se destacan por los detalles, los vestuarios y todo en general se ve visualmente muy hermoso aún así muestran algo que era muy de esos tiempos es la forma en la que trataban a las personas afroamericanas y que fue un detalle que aunque sabía que en esas épocas aún existía ese trato horrible no me lo esperaba verlo y eso le agrego un poco más de drama a toda la situación. Me encantó la actuación de Kristen Dunst ya que a pesar de haber sido una actriz tan pequeña se lució completamente en su rol de Claudia y demostró totalmente el por qué no deben convertir niños en vampiros ya que estos aún no entienden lo que significa el matar a otra persona y todas las consecuencias que trae, ellos son rebeldes, caprichosos y solo les importará quitar su sed por sangre humana, la historia Claudia es fuerte y aún así hay momentos en los que se le ve verdaderamente feliz pero aún así cada década que pasa ella no envejece haciéndola odiar el ser vampiro.

La tragedia une a esas dos almas que aún luego de ser vampiros y vivir eternamente siguen siendo humanos en el interior, sufren al tener que quitar una vida para poder alimentarse y que a pesar de sus intentos por no matar a nadie más no pueden evitarlo ya que nada los satisface más que la sangre humana. El vampiro Lestat me sorprendió también, es de carácter carismático y orgulloso, un vampiro peligroso ya que sabe el poder y la fuerza que tiene, las habilidades que solo el tiene y no dudará en usarlas para conseguir lo que quiere y aunque quiso que Louis lo acompañara en la inmortalidad a veces tiene choques con el y no siempre terminan en buenos términos. Me gustó mucho la variedad de personalidades y la complejidad de las historias sobretodo por el pasado de los personaje es lo que los hace ser lo que son ahora y aunque la historia de Lestat y su pasado no es muy claro se nota lo poco que le importa ya que ahora es poderoso e inmortal, por eso me causo consuelo el ver como Louis y Claudia se complementaban.

The set design is amazing, I have always been a fan of historical or Victorian themed sets as they stand out for the details, the costumes and everything in general looks visually very beautiful yet they show something that was very much of those times is the way they treated African American people and that was a detail that although I knew that in those times there was still that horrible treatment I did not expect to see it and that added a little more drama to the whole situation. I loved Kristen Dunst's performance since despite being such a small actress she completely shined in her role as Claudia and totally showed why they should not turn children into vampires since they still do not understand what it means to kill another person and all the consequences it brings, they are rebellious, capricious and will only care about removing their thirst for human blood, the story Claudia is strong and yet there are moments where she is truly happy but still every decade that passes she does not age making her hate being a vampire.

Tragedy unites these two souls that even after being vampires and living eternally are still human inside, they suffer when they have to take a life to be able to feed and despite their attempts not to kill anyone else they cannot avoid it since nothing satisfies them more than human blood. The vampire Lestat also surprised me, he is a charismatic and proud character, a dangerous vampire since he knows the power and strength he has, the abilities that only he has and he will not hesitate to use them to get what he wants and although he wanted Louis to accompany him in immortality sometimes he has clashes with him and they do not always end on good terms. I really liked the variety of personalities and the complexity of the stories especially for the past of the characters is what makes them what they are now and although the history of Lestat and his past is not very clear you can see how little he cares since he is now powerful and immortal, that's why I was comforted to see how Louis and Claudia complemented each other.

Me gustó mucho el desarrollo de la película y cada que había un momento de paz volvía la tensión y el drama, por supuesto otro tema que siempre es común en los vampiros (o en la mayoría de ellos) es el desprecio hacia ellos mismos todo esto arraigado a la religión en donde empieza el cuestionamiento sobre su alma y su ser, si aún siguen siendo mortales a pesar de todo lo que ser vampiro implica, si irán alguna vez al infierno por sus pecados pero una reflexión que dejó Louis y que me pareció muy cierta es que para ellos el infierno es su alrededor, el tener que matar para poder vivir y saciar su sed es su maldición y su castigo, en ciertos casos ya que como vemos en la película Lestat es un vampiro que no le importa matar para poder calmar su sed, estuve de acuerdo con la filosofía de Louis y fue una forma de conseguirle sentido en el sentido de la espiritualidad y sus valores arraigados a la religión. Como buena amante de las películas de vampiros la amé por completo, amé a los actores y por otro lado también estoy feliz de que recientemente salió una serie inspirada en el mismo libro en el cual está inspirada la película (esta serie se encuentra en la plataforma de streaming Prime Video) y estoy muy emocionada por ver con mayor detalle la relación entre Lestat y Louis y un poco más de la historia del primero.

I really liked the development of the film and every time there was a moment of peace the tension and drama returned, of course another theme that is always common in vampires (or most of them) is the contempt for themselves all this rooted in religion where the questioning begins about their soul and their being, if they are still mortal despite all that being a vampire implies, if they will ever go to hell for their sins but a reflection that Louis left and that I found very true is that for them hell is their surroundings, having to kill to live and quench their thirst is their curse and their punishment, in certain cases since as we see in the movie Lestat is a vampire who does not mind killing to quench his thirst, I agreed with Louis' philosophy and it was a way to make sense in the sense of spirituality and its values rooted in religion. As a good lover of vampire movies I absolutely loved it, I loved the actors and on the other hand I am also happy that recently a series inspired by the same book the movie is inspired by came out (this series is on the Prime Video streaming platform) and I am very excited to see in more detail the relationship between Lestat and Louis and a little more of the former's story.
