Kingsman The secret service movie review.
To jump right into it, this is a movie that has it all in terms of scripting, overall screen play, World-class acting and thrilling action.
In this spy thriller movie shown in 2014, a raid happened in the middle east in 1997 in which a probationary secret agent named Le Unwin sacrifices himself to save his team. Harry Hart (Colin Firth) whose code name was Galahad, felt guilty over the death of secret agent Le Unwin during that mission. In respect to his friend, he delivers a medal of valor to the late friend’s wife, Michelle, and his son Garry "Eggsy" Unwin, saying if they ever needed help, they could call the number at the back of the medal.
In London, Eggsy Unwin, played by Taron Egerton is now grown but an unemployed young adult who lives with his mom, step sister and abusive step father. Eggsy despite being so intelligent, lives the aimless life of a stereotypical chap and gets arrested for stealing a vehicle. He then calls the number at the back of the medal and he’s released by Harry Hart. Hart meets Eggsy and tells him about his father, how great an agent he was, for "Kingsman". "Kingsman" was an independent international intelligence agency which fights global threat and maintains peace. Since the agency lost one of their agents, Harry who sees potentials in Eggsy, recruits him as he joins others to be hand picked to replace the vacant position. The training was overseen by a senior kingsman named Merlin. Down to the last training, Eggsy fails and a girl named Roxy passes and becomes the new Lancelot.
Meanwhile, the villain is the tech-savvy billionaire Richmond Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) who devises a sinister plan to save the planet by drastically reducing the human population. Armed with charm, wit, and cutting-edge gadgets, Eggsy and the Kingsman team must stop Valentine before his plan triggers global chaos.
Two scenes in particular blew me away, the bar scene and the church scene, these can only be called masterpieces. Harry's fighting skill is jaw dropping and though he was killed by Valentine, he showed very efficient and precise fighting skills aaaaarrrhhh.
I loved how the death of the mentor allows for the growth of the protagonist and how Eggsy steps into his shoes as Kingman's, to save the day.
With a star-studded cast, state-of-the-art gadgets and over-the-top action sequences, it is one of the best espionage movies I have ever watched.
A really great movie and i feel very comfortable giving it a solid rating of 9/10.
You can watch it on Netflix.
