Rustom; Movie review
Rustom is a 2016 Indian Movie that had me glued to my seat and my eyes riveted on the screen from the beginning to the end. Akshay Kumar plays his role of Rustom Pavri, a Naval Officer, in an impeccable performance, a super star kind of performance, in this thriller revolving around betrayal, revenge, intense courtroom drama, generally a gripping drama based on Indian history.
Plot;
Akshay Kumar who starred as Commander Rustom Pavri, a decorated Naval Officer who loved his wife Cynthia Pavri (played by Ileana D'Cruz) very much. Then Rustom is sent on a mission abroad which his wife kicked against but he went on, all the same.
While Rustom was away on that mission, his wife, Cynthia, started an affair with his arrogant and wealthy friend, Vikram Makhija (Arjan Bajwa). When Rustom returns home unexpectedly, he discovers this affair confirmed by the love letters between the two. He was devastated and angry and so decided to confront Vikram.
Rustom meets Vikram in his home and they had a heated argument. Rustom shot him three times with his official gun, killing him on the spot. Then he walks to the police station and turns himself in, very calmly after having confessed to killing Vikram.
In the courtroom, Rustom decides to represent himself, rejecting any other. These were suspenseful times in the courtroom as he remains mysteriously silent.
Preeti Makhija (Esha Gupta), Vikram's sister tried to use her influence to put Rustom behind bars for killing her brother. But as the trial progresses, shocking truths of Vikram's complicity in shady arms deal emerged, a crime undermining national security.
Commander Pavri leverages on these revelations and skillfully turns public opinion in his favour, which was formerly of outrage, against him for murder.
It is a riveting and powerful courtroom trial that questions morality, justice, and love, Akshay Kumar brilliantly and confidently fights his own case as he pleads not guilty against the charges of murder against him.
At the end, Akshay Kumar walks away a free man, his actions declared justifiable by the jury, and that moment of total forgiveness and reconciliation with his wife, choosing to close that dark chapter of their lives.
Actors' performance;
A Stellar performance, especially by Akshay Kumar whose acting is as usual, always topnotch. He grabs attention in every scene, I just loved him.
Ileana D'Cruz as Cynthia Pavri convincingly acted out the guilty and remorseful wife.
Arjan Bajwa as Vikram Makhija was very good playing the bad boy of the movie.
Esha Gupta as Preeti Makhija was also very cool and convincing.
The engaging courtroom sequences was thrilling, astounding to say the least.
The background music, especially “Tere Sang Yaara” stand out for their melody and emotional depth, I found it very enjoyable that I had it as my phone's ringing tone for awhile.
If you would love moments of fun suspense thrill crime murder mystery and terrific plot this is your movie next weekend .So have some popping popcorn and a cold drink and watch our for Akshay Kumar.
I would rate this movie a 90/100.

Not always we have defendants defending themselves and being able to walk away. This must have been a thrilling movie from the plot.
It's simply amazing, a thriller that would thrill you from the very start and all through.
I recommend it 😁

Ah, this is an excellent one. And I've seen a movie like this, only that it was Korean. Lovely seeing you around. Don't forget to engage and keep interacting with the community.🌺
Thank you very much for coming around, yes I have started engagement.
Great reading your review of the movie "Rustom", as someone who has watched Rustom more times than I count I have started to see the mistakes. Well, I have yet to see a perfect movie but one area I believe they could have done better with was the court processes. They didn't follow normal legal processes and it was obvious it was all plotted to favour Rustom. Anyway, I enjoyed it and would recommend it over and over again to anyone who cares to watch it. My favorite scenes were the romance songs and the dancing and all, well I am a lady and a sucker for romance. Thanks
I watch movies mainly to relax, some of them have some flaws but I choose to overlook if it's one that I have enjoyed so much. Rustom is one of such 😊
Thank you very much for looking in.
