Lets start the engagement on CINE.

A CINETalkies post will be created daily, and anyone can participate in the #cinetalkies initiative by simply commenting on this post. Try to interact in the comments with other users. Want to talk about a movie, but still don’t have enough data to post about?

Rewards are discretionary. Spammers are not welcome but if you really want to talk about a movie (whether english or a regional language), web-series, movies, channels, shows then this is the place.

Lets us boost overall comments and the same would not be in vein.

Thank you @raymondspeaks for encouraging this initiative.

Good luck to all contributors for generating rewarding engagement.

Just finished voting the participants of yesterday's challenge. Tagging @venoswriter, @coffeelovers, @wiseagent @interpretation @markchu for this edition.

Those who are active on the discord would be knowing about the new cine front end. This is the future of the cine community now. You can feel free to write your thoughts on what do you think about this new front end. Try to post your comments through the new front end https://www.cinetv.blog/@gimmetricks1/cinetalkies--lets-talk-about-cinema-1022021#comments

I tried using it but looks it will take some more time. By the way, continuing yesterday's thread. Scam 1992 is based on the life of a mega scamster called Harshad Mehta. It is the story of how he manipulates everything from stock markets to the corrupt political system and in the process loses his life. Its one of the best web-series in India till date.

avatar

I watched the "Big Bull" on Disney Hotstar. Abhishek Bacchan has played the role of Harshad Mehta and his character name is Hemant Shah. However, if you have seen Scam 1992, this movie is average kind of show. Webseries has far more appeal than the movie.

Most of the frontends are moving on to the outpost. #ctp and #sportstalk have already moved on to this front end. Initially you may have to import the keys to setup either keychain or smartlock. But once you import the keys the process is simple afterwards.
But honestly if you ask me, the cinetv.blog looks far better than the cinetv.io

avatar

We have a new new front end coming out. This is just a stop-gap. Mainly because I wanted NFT & DAO functionality.

The new matrix - good or crap? thoughts please post answers in code.....!PIZZA

avatar

I haven't seen it yet but I'm looking forward to it.

avatar

It is not out yet....but I am gonna have to go see it but not sure it will be good!

avatar

I'm hoping so, but I'll be pissed if it's just another one where the woman saves the day and the men are all bumbling idiots

avatar

Considering that the Wachowski's both now transitioned, then you may well find that could be a narrative plot, but I'm hoping not and that they keep true to the original idea and concept, Neo is the main character and none of this let's have new kids take over and save the day thing.

avatar

Can't really say unless is it out. And looks like only one of the sisters are on the project.

avatar

Good, by default, because it's The Matrix.

It's confusing from the trailer. I wonder where they are going with it. It appears his gone back in. Perhaps they got tricked back in and their memories wiped and then commence regaining them.

It looks interesting

avatar

The trailer looks like they plugged him back into the matrix for sure! I am gonna watch it but matrix 3 was so bad I am not hopeful! !PIZZA

avatar

Agreed, that was the exact feeling I had, that somehow they had captured him (and trin) and plugged him back in.
Big reset within the Matrix as well with a mind wipe since the interactions between him and trinity were like strangers.

avatar

I can't remember, I just recall him not following what the previous Leo's did. Looks like I'm having a movie marathon this coming weekend to get across what happened again

I think no matter what, people will watch the new Matrix movie and love it anyway! The franchise and fanbase are so remarkable that it is beyond description.

avatar

I will watch it.....

avatar

Honestly? I will too. It was my first ever wake up moment lol

avatar

brilliant, I think the 3rd time we went to see it at cinema we went in costume....

avatar

Judging by the trailer, it looks like it will be "more of the same", but I still believe something really good is coming.

avatar

Alright, here's my contribution.

Social Justice is a real close topic to me. I feel it's killing the arts. Why? Well, for instance we just don't make films the way we used to. I remember the recent martin scorcese film that came out and I switched it off after 30 mins.

Casino is literally one of my favourite films, ever. It's so down to earth and gritty.

It just seems that in films today they have moved from reality to a fluffy world that doesn't exist. Thoughts?

avatar

I think the world we live in today, "do you mean the world before Covid, by the way, or the world after Covid?", just isn't a fun world to live in anymore. There is murder and manslaughter everywhere.

There are things that happen in reality where you feel like it could 'be right out of a movie'. Things we couldn't imagine... A movie is a way of escaping reality for many people. So I guess the movie world has some kind of reaction to real life. Life is getting harder and harder, so script writers react to this in a certain way.

Horror is becoming more and more extreme, Thrillers are increasingly being turned into psychological thrillers, and you can see that many script writers hark back to a fantasy world, to still give viewers the opportunity to escape reality, which is weird enough these days without having to have to put in a lot of effort.

avatar

Interesting take. I mean I'm not entirely sure if I agree with all that. Sure, there is a reaction to real life but that arts are being Politically stifled by PC culture. I mean there are some things that you just can't do to a woman role for example. I read that you couldn't make a woman more inferior to a man. Which is silly - how does she grow then?

At some point we are all inferior, and then we grow as people to become a little bit superior.

avatar

Hi, I have not seen the movie Casino, but I agree with you, it is rare to get a good movie or series, because the directors only think about the box office. I watch movies and series every day, and most of them I take them off after 30 minutes. This is happening to me with the Foundation Series, striking visual effects, but bad acting and it is very difficult to understand for those of us who have not read the books.

I believe in the diversity of genres and cultures, but not forced, it should flow with the script and the characters.

avatar

Absolutely. I think movies were always diverse. I mean you can't talk about Italian Americans without having a mostly white cast because Italian Americans are/were white. But today we are taking it to an all new insanity.

Yes, that also. Too much money on effects and visuals and not enough time and effort on developing the characters

avatar

You made me pop your eye outta your fuckin head to protect this piece of shit

Great movie and great choice

avatar

I totally loved this film - sad that we don't have any of this calibre anymore

avatar
(Edited)

agreed what has come out so far in 2021... best movie i can think of was paper tigers yet that was mediocre at best... and we are in the 4th quarter... sad reality

avatar

Love this film, might have to watch it again!

avatar

Interesting that you say about moving to a fluffy world, since there are a few out there that would still go dark. Tarantino is on record for saying "who the fuck are them" when it comes to being forced to censor films and I'd say the John Wick movies the first in particular were eye-opening for the darkness and no holding back.

I've yet to see The Irishman incidentally, mainly as I didn't fancy the length of the film, although if we went back a few years to The Departed and Shutter Island (I recall you loved this one) then it gets interesting again.

avatar

This was never posted in Cine community didn't show up!

Hey hey what up peeps. I've been curating via this account for a little while. Nothing major just 2500 Cine. Hope to increase it and continue to curate great content

avatar

Oh, again thanks to you people for suggesting me, FREE GUY!

It was an amazing watch. One of the best movies of 2021 IMO!

It stars Ryan Reynolds, you should watch it. If you are into gaming, then you should definitely watch it.

avatar

Have anybody here seen What If? Its a classic Filler series by Marvel

avatar

I really didn't like the first episode and stopped watching!

avatar

Its a filler series so if you are hardcore marvel fan, its just a break from heavy storylines to short and simple one. But the concept is unique. As all stories we have already watched in Movies.

avatar

Saw this. A fan made pet project. This is why I think there's value in moving away from mainstream bollocks.

avatar

Mainstream is still important (especially financial terms for the studios), but there's a lot of life outside of that circuit.

Independent films (and projects like the one you posted) are proof of that.

avatar

I don't know - it just seems to throw out shit these days and tell us we';re awful human beings for not liking their trash

In August I ended up watching a rather strange animated series on Netflix called Centaurworld.

Now I didn't think it was going to be up to much, as it sort of looked all a bit carebear like.
But what I got in the first episode was some gritty China/Mongolian war, focused on a Horse rider, and her horse, it was in style but changed to monsters before everything went a bit wrong.

And its when things went wrong, the series got interesting!!
The horse now split from their rider, was thrown into what can only be said, Carebear world on acid, filled with musical theatre vets just doing their thing.

I mean, how is this for messed up art?

(Image: Centaurworld/Netflix)

Yeah, this wasn't for kids, this was for adults that may well have taken a few too many acid trips because for sure the production team did!

This all then followed up by a lot of Westend and Broadway Alumni appearing as cast members so proper musical production values in regard to the soundtrack and to my utter shock, a compelling storyline where the Horse is attempting to make it back to her rider so they can save the world.

The next thing I knew, I binged the whole 10 eps in one night.

Now I wish to also highlight this little piece of music from the series.

It comes across as a very soft lullaby with the use of xylophone, typical in style to used to send babies to sleep with. But listen to the lyrics, in-depth, and that's when you realise the sinister nature of the composition and what is really in-store in relation to the series. You can hear muted tones of the male bass singers whispering the lyrics into the background, as well as the subtle use of mirroring the lyrics and when they end it with "When he sees light leaving your eyes" that leave you in no doubt, they want to murder you!

I guess really, has anyone come across this themselves, and have any thoughts to what they may have seen, and question if they shouldn't have had that edible?

avatar

Yeah, The Magic Roundabout springs to mind here. Interesting what you find on netflix.

avatar

From the musical aspect of the series, and seriously it is top-line work, there is one piece I want to highlight. As it plays on the whole aspect of feeling safe and comfortable when you hear the use of soft choir singing mixed with the xylophone. Very much in the style that is used in children's lullabies.

You can hear in the tone it's gone all dark, as well as visually, but listen to the lyrics, also notice everything is off-key, and its perfectly made to unsettle you and also you can hear that it really is about an end to all life. Dark!

avatar

Okay, that was spooky lol

avatar

Effective, right!
If I didn't change one subject on my masters, it was literally going to be my presentation topic for Sound on Screen. Basically, Centaurworld, when musicals mix with animation, and a hint of acid!

avatar

Has Hollywood given up? Most everything is a prequel, sequel, from a book, or remake.
Feels like Hollywood ran out of ideas
