Dark October: A Heart-Wrenching Tale of Injustice and Grief
I never used to miss the latest movies/ Series as a teenager and young adult until life responsibilities, work, and taking care of the family took over the free time I once had, now movies to me is a once in a once-in-a-while thing, that means it has to be great since I'm giving it my precious time that would have probably been for sleep/rest.
Thanks to my sister or friends in the Neoxian city, I tend to get updated reviews from them about the latest movie I need to add to my watchlist. Talking about the movie that has touched me the most emotionally, it has to be "Dark October" I don't think anyone who has a heart will watch this movie and not feel sad and angry afterward, and to think it was based on a real-life story, a live tragic event made it even more annoying.
It's about four undergraduates from the University of Portharcout, they were four, boys who visited a community close to their school named Aluu community, according to the movie, a coursemate of one of the boys owed him money for a long while, even after several pleas from him to pay back, but he refused, so they decided, him and his three other friends to visit the debtor very early in the morning since he was fond of being absent whenever they plan to meet.
From the storyline, there has been an incessant robbery in the community during that period, so the community was alert to catch the culprits who have been wreaking havoc on them, unfortunately for their friend, the debtor, he was caught that morning, the four friends demanded he pays his debt, he had nowhere to run to anymore, as he always does, but the wicked friend sneaked out from their midst, running out, he took advantage of the situation happening in the community and shouted thieves, meaning those friends who came to collect money for their friends were thieves, raising that false alarm, the community men and women ran out of their houses, without even confirming the facts they committed the act of jungle justice, by beating the four undergraduate boys to pulp and burnt them alive, which sent them to their early grave at such a young age.
I couldn't control my tears watching every scene unfold, even though I heard when the news was trending, I never knew the full details till I watched Dark October, all these happened in the year 2012 in the month of October, I was a newly admitted student in the university, this news shocked me and made me stay restricted to my school environment. I guess the reason the movie was named Dark October, it was a dark October indeed, it's painful that our country didn't take ghastly action against the culprits as the community still exists, and the culprits are still walking around while four promising futures were cut off. Jungle justice is still a common occurrence in my country, every human should consider a fellow human's life sacred, even if the human is guilty of the crime accused, they should have rather handed over the victim to the police and let the court of law take charge, rather than take justice into their hands.
Writing about this makes me sad, let me stop here for now.
It is truly an emotional movie, especially the fact that it is said to be true life story.
I watched it back then and I did shed a tear.
Exactly Sis, it's so emotional to watch, the fact that it happened for real makes it even more painful.
I heard of the movie but I couldn't bring myself to watch it, I read about the synopsis on twitter which trended for awhile. Seeing how people are reacting to the movie, I just couldn't watch it.
Quite heartbreaking to see how a person's selfishness could cost the lives of four innocent children, I believe 2 or 3 of those boys were siblings.
Yeah, 2 were siblings. I also delayed my watching till I couldn't anymore, it is so heart breaking, may their soul RIP
I didn't watched the movie and in recent time I hardly watch movie. Hearing the details about the movie I am feeling a little bit interested but I am not sure will I watch the movie or not because I don't trust on myself in case of watching movie.
Ha! So many of us don't have time for movie anymore, I understand, the emotions surrounding the movie is not exciting, I feel same.
This is a very touching and disheartening movie I watched recently, I can't help but wonder how heartless some people are.
Jungle justice need to stop and people should stop taking laws into their hands, else both victims and those who knows nothing about situations will end up like this students.
Very disheartening,
I totally agree with you, whether guilty or not, jungle justice has never and will never be the best way to handle crime cases.
Absolutely.
This movie kept replaying in my head even after days I saw it. The fact that it is not even a movie but a real story made it more heart-wrenching. I couldn’t imagine some people actually went through that. I sobbed Like a fool and seeing this again is bringing it back to my head🥹
