Especial de Octubre día #1: Dr. Sueño (2019) [ESP/ENG]

Hola, cinéfilos de Hive! Octubre llegó y lo primero en lo que pensé fue en ver una maratón de películas relacionadas con la época. Quiero compartirles cada una de las que veré a lo largo del mes, haciéndoles reseñas. La mayoría son clásicos que quizá ya hayan visto, pero, en ésta época valen la pena repetirlas. Hello, Hive moviegoers! October is here and the first thing I thought of was to watch a marathon of movies related to the season. Argumento // Plot

La película sigue la vida adulta de Danny Torrance, el cual aún sigue lidiando con los traumas de su infancia en el Hotel Overlook. Éste se encuentra luchando con su adicción al alcohol y con "el resplandor", el cual es su don psíquico. La historia se centra en la relación de Danny con una niña llamada Abra Stone, la cual también posee "el resplandor" y es perseguida por un grupo de asesinos conocidos como "El verdadero nudo", liderados por Rouse the Hat.

Danny y Abra se unen para enfrentarse a este grupo y detener los asesinatos, mientras Danny intenta redimirse y proteger ala niña (Abra) de propio pasado tormentoso.

The film follows the adult life of Danny Torrance, who is still dealing with the traumas of his childhood at the Overlook Hotel. He is struggling with his addiction to alcohol and "the shining," which is his psychic gift. The story centers on Danny's relationship with a girl named Abra Stone, who also possesses "the glow" and is being hunted by a group of assassins known as "The True Knot," led by Rouse the Hat.

El director de la película el cual es conocido por su trabajo en el genero del terror, se encargó de crear una atmósfera inquietante en la película, la cual le funcionó muy bien, ya que utilizó elementos visuales que establecen relación con la película "el resplandor".

Relación con "El Resplandor" // Relationship with "The Shining".

La película es una secuela directa de "El Resplandor" y utiliza flashbacks y referencias visuales para conecta a ambas películas. Aunque El resplandor de Kubrick es diferente en algunos aspectos a la novela original de Stephen King, Flanagan intenta unir esas diferencias en ésta película.

En conclusión "Dr. Sueño" es una película de terror/suspenso que ofrece una experiencia única al espectador, al combinar elementos de "El Resplandor", con una historia que aborda temas profundos y oscuros. La película fue y sigue siendo elogiada por su dirección, sus actuaciones y por la capacidad de mantener el misterio y la tensión a lo largo de su narrativa. Si eres fanático del gran Stephen King y de sus obras, o de los thrillers psicológicos en general, recomiendo mucho ésta película.

In conclusion "Dr. Dream" is a horror/suspense film that offers a unique experience to the viewer by combining elements of "The Shining" with a story that deals with deep and dark themes. The film was and continues to be praised for its direction, performances and ability to maintain mystery and tension throughout its narrative. If you are a fan of the great Stephen King and his works, or psychological thrillers in general, I highly recommend this film.
