This time I will tell you about a movie called The edge (the challenge) which was released in 1997.

En esta oportunidad les comentaré sobre una película llamada The edge (el desafio) que fue estrenada en el año 1997.

The plot/ La Trama

Charles Morse (Anthony Hopkins) is a millionaire married to Mickey, a beautiful model much younger than him (Elle Macpherson) who makes them travel to Alaska for a photo shoot with his photographer Bob (Alec Baldwin). While there, they celebrate Charles' birthday and decide to take a flight in his small plane to locate a person Bob needed to include in the photographs and invite Charles to accompany them.

On the way in their private plane they have problems with a flock of birds that cause the plane to crash in the middle of the icy mountains where conditions for survival are minimal. There begins the struggle for survival between these three characters: Charles, Bob and the assistant Stephen (Harold Perrineau). There they will fight against the weather conditions, against a ferocious kodiak bear that chases them and against themselves.

I have always admired this remarkable actor Anthony Hopkins for the character he brings to every character he plays. I've noticed that the films he works on always stand out, but I think it's precisely because of the passion he puts into his work that makes an uninteresting or weakly scripted film a success.

This film is no exception. Hopkins plays a multi-millionaire rich in money but also with a very humble heart who demonstrates his human qualities in the midst of adversity, being subjected to an adventure of survival and always keeping his cool by using his knowledge acquired from reading a book.

Siempre he admirado a este notable actor Anthony Hopkins por el carácter que le imprime a cada personaje que interpreta. Me he dado cuenta que las películas donde el trabaja siempre destacan, pero creo que es precisamente por la pasión que el pone en su trabajo lo que hace que una película poco interesante o con un guión flojo se convierta en exitosa.
Este film no es la excepción. Hopkins interpreta a un multimillonario rico de dinero pero también con un corazón muy humilde que demuestra su calidad humana en medio de la adversidad, al estar sometido a una aventura de supervivencia y mantener siempre la calma usando sus conocimientos adquiridos en la lectura de un libro.

On the other hand, and as a counterpart to Hopkins' character, there is Robert or Bob, an ambitious and envious man who does not mind going over anyone's head to get ahead and always get a particular benefit.

Fate brings this pair together and places them in a hostile environment, full of challenges and difficulties where each one must do their best to join forces and succeed in emerging victorious from this uncomfortable and unfortunate situation.
It has an unexpected ending and it is there where we realize how much we can get to know people.

Por otro lado y como contraparte al personaje de Hopkins, está Robert o Bob, un hombre ambicioso y envidioso que no le importa pasar por encima de quien sea para surgir y sacar siempre un beneficio particular.
El destino une a este par y los coloca en un ambiente hostil, repleto de desafíos y dificultades donde cada uno debe sacar lo mejor de si para unir esfuerzos y lograr salir victoriosos de esa incómoda y desafortunada situación.
Tiene un final inesperado y es allí donde nos damos cuenta de lo tanto que podemos conocer a las personas.

In conclusion/ En conclusión

It is a film shot entirely on location with beautiful natural shots that reflect cold landscapes with abundant snow.
It has excellent performances of its characters that give a lot of realism and interest to the story.
It is also a well made film with very real and well planned scenes. So much so that for the scenes with the Kodiak bear they did not use costumes but a real bear, trained to do the scenes of violence, which in my opinion, were excellent.
In summary, a movie to see and remember for the excellence of its scenography, impressive soundtrack, masterful performances and a good script.

Es una película filmada totalmente en exteriores con hermosas tomas naturales que reflejan paisajes fríos con abundante nieve.
Cuenta con las excelentes actuaciones de sus personajes que le confieren mucho realismo e interés a la historia.
Además es una película bien hecha con escenas muy reales y bien planeadas. Tanto es así que para las escenas con el oso Kodiak no utilizaron disfraces sino un oso real, amaestrado para hacer las escenas de violencia, que en mi opinión, les quedaron excelentes.
En resumen,una película para ver y recordar por la excelencia en su escenografía, impresionante soundtrack, magistrales actuaciones y un buen guión.
