Aún estamos en Marzo, el mes de la mujer y quiero seguir celebrando y honrando a esas mujeres maravillosas que día a día trabajan, luchan por sus sueños; son madres, hijas esposas, amigas, confidentes, trabajadoras y sobre todo mujeres. Así que hoy quiero hablar sobre una película que considero un clásico y que sinceramente toda mujer debería ver, se trata de Legalmente Rubia.

So today I want to talk about a movie that I consider a classic and that honestly every woman should see, it is Legally Blonde.

Elle Woods es la protagonista de esta película estadounidense estrenada en el año 2001 del género comedia, actualmente se encuentra disponible en la plataforma de streaming Amazon Prime. Elle es una chica rubia de California que aparentemente lo tiene todo en la vida, dinero, amigas, un novio espectacular, belleza, popularidad y es la presidenta de su propia hermandad. Pero su vida dió un giro cuando su novio Warner la invita a cenar para terminar con ella, porque él es el hijo del gobernador y se iba a estudiar derecho a Harvard.
Pero estaba tan enamorada que se dispuso a entrar a Harvard, estudió, se preparó y lo logró. Allí su vida comienza a cambiar considerablemente porque se muda a Boston y deja atrás todo para incorporarse a un mundo totalmente diferente dónde lamentablemente ella no era bien vista. Todo el mundo la tildaba de “tonta superficial” solamente porque era rubia, sabía de moda y le preocupaba mucho su aspecto, le gusta ir de compras, toda su vestimenta y accesorios eran rosas, le decían “la Barbie de Malibú”. En una fiesta su ex novio le dice que busque algo mejor que hacer con su vida y es allí donde ella decide demostrarle a él y a todo el mundo que ella si podía estudiar leyes en Harvard. Fue tan asombroso su cambio y su rendimiento académico que uno de sus profesores la invitó a unirse a un caso muy importante de asesinato con una chica que también había estado en su hermandad.
Everyone labeled her as a “superficial bimbo” just because she was blonde, fashion savvy and very concerned about her looks, she liked shopping, all her clothes and accessories were pink, she was called “the Barbie of Malibu”. At a party her ex-boyfriend tells her to find something better to do with her life and that's when she decides to prove to him and everyone that she could study law at Harvard. So amazing was her change and her academic performance that one of her professors invited her to join a very important murder case with a girl who had also been in her sorority.

Para los que no saben estudié en la Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador de Barquisimeto la especialidad de física, una carrera muy demandante de tiempo y dónde cada minuto contaba por eso las pocas mujeres que hacían vida allí “no perdían tiempo en vanidades”.

Elle Woods nos muestra una mujer que se demostró así misma que puede lograr todo lo que se proponga, así como también pudo tapar muchas bocas y demostrar que amarse, cuidarse y tener tiempos para sí mismo no interfiere para nada en los logros académicos y profesionales. Hoy en día tengo un postgrado, voy a comenzar el doctorado y sigo llegando a la universidad maquillada, peinada, con ropa adecuada y en tacones porque el maquillaje no interfiere en tu proceso reflexivo, así que es momento de dejar esos estereotipos y comenzar a ver a las personas más allá de una cara bonita.

Today I have a postgraduate degree, I am going to start my doctorate and I still arrive at the university with makeup, hair done, with appropriate clothes and in heels because makeup does not interfere in your thought process, so it is time to leave those stereotypes behind and start seeing people beyond a pretty face.
