Gone Baby Gone

One of the films that caught my attention recently was Gone Baby Gone was a 2007 crime drama directed by Affleck in his directorial debut Based on the novel of the same name and the movie tells the story of a young girl who goes missing in Boston and the private investigators who are assigned to search for her.

Casey Affleck and Michelle starred alongside big name stars Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris which was certainly a strong draw for the film Casey Affleck played Detective Patrick Kinsey who along with his partner tries to track down any clues that might lead them to the girls whereabouts However as the story unfolds they find themselves caught in a complex web of corruption and mysterious secrets.

The film isn't just about finding a missing child it delves into very difficult moral questions such as right and wrong and whether the seemingly right decision is always the best one The script is expertly written and the dialogue is intelligent and full of details that keep you fully engaged.

The directing was superb especially since this was Ben Afflecks first experience but he managed to convey the atmosphere of Boston in a very realistic way both in the locations and in the characters way of speaking The ending was somewhat shocking and left you thinking for a while after the film which is a major advantage in any strong drama.

Gone Baby Gone is a deep psychological crime film that combines suspense and drama relying more on tension and reflection than traditional action If you like films that make you reflect on the characters decisions and live their conflict I recommend you check it out.
