Las voces. (2014) / The Voices. (2014) [Film review]
Saludos mis muy queridos hivers, sobre todos a los cinéfilos, espero estén teniendo un maravilloso fin de semana. Hace un par de noches vi un película de la que no había tenido referencias (ni una pista de su existencia) la encontré mientras hacía "scrolling" en el menú de películas de "You Tube" con la intención de poner cualquier cosa que me distrajera mientras cenaba. A veces en esa plataforma se tropieza uno con piezas interesantes como esta de la que vengo a conversarles.
Greetings my very dear hivers, especially the cinephiles, I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. A couple of nights ago I saw a movie I had not had any reference to (nor a hint of its existence) I found it while I was scrolling through the "You Tube " movie menu with the intention of putting on anything that would distract me while I was having dinner. Sometimes on that platform one stumbles upon interesting pieces like this one I am about to tell you about.
Sinopsis / Synopsis
Se trata de una cinta protagonizada por Ryan Reynodls bajo la dirección de Marjane Satrapi en la que Reynolds encarna a un hombre joven solitario y misterioso que busca la manera de encajar socialmente con sus compañeros de trabajo, una cosa lleva a la otra y de manera intespectiva el protagonista va cayendo en una espiral de violencia sin sentido impulsada por su disociación psicótica de la que no podrá ya escapar. A medida que la acción nos adentra en el drama interior de Jerry, interpretado por Reynolds, vamos enterándonos de los terribles eventos de su pasado que le han dejado profundas marcas psicológicas que tienen como resultado el resquebrajamiento de su conciencia; así vemos que sus mascotas (Un Perro, Bosco y un gato, Mr. whiskers) le hablan constantemente tomando cada uno parte en la balanza del bien y el mal.
This is a film starring Ryan Reynodls under the direction of Marjane Satrapi in which Reynolds plays a lonely and mysterious young man looking for a way to fit in socially with his co-workers, one thing leads to another and the protagonist is falling into a spiral of senseless violence driven by his psychotic dissociation from which he can no longer escape. As the action takes us into the inner drama of Jerry, played by Reynolds, we learn of the terrible events of his past that have left deep psychological scars that have resulted in the cracking of his conscience; thus we see that his pets (A Dog, Bosco and a cat, Mr. whiskers) are constantly talking to him, each taking part in the balance of good and evil.
Mis impresiones / My impressions
Lo primero que debo decir es que me sorprendió, no sabía que existía esta película por lo que asistí a los algo más de 100 minutos que dura sin ningún tipo de expectativa o prejuicio, esto me permitió tener una primera impresión genuina del film. Bien, en cuanto a la obra como un todo me parece que merodea el humor negro y el suspenso tratando de ser original y al mismo tiempo satirizar el género de asesinos seriales con giros comediescos muy bien medidos por Satrapi quien logra crear una atmósfera muy fluida entre lo ligero y lo pesado de las distintas situaciones que nos va contando. Para tal fin despliega una viveza visual de tonos intensos que nos ayudan en la transición entre la realidad y su bizarra imaginación.
The first thing I must say is that I was surprised, I did not know that this film existed so I attended the more than 100 minutes that lasts without any kind of expectation or prejudice, this allowed me to have a genuine first impression of the film. Well, as for the work as a whole, it seems to me that the film is full of black humor and suspense, trying to be original and at the same time satirize the serial killer genre with comedic twists very well measured by Satrapi who manages to create a very fluid atmosphere between the light and heavy of the different situations he tells us about. To this end, she deploys a visual vividness of intense tones that help us in the transition between reality and her bizarre imagination.
Reynolds logró darnos un personaje con el que empatizamos de inmediato, sus dificultades, complejos y aspiraciones de "normalidad" nos resultan elementos fáciles para identificarnos y luego cuando Jerry va cayendo en el abismo no podemos evitar justificarlo basados en la historia de vida que vamos conociendo de la mano de la narrativa presentado por Satrapi. Reynolds Logra una gran actuación que si me permiten es la que le da toda la fuerza a la cinta opacando absolutamente al resto de actores.
Reynolds managed to give us a character with whom we empathize immediately, his difficulties, complexes and aspirations of "normality" are easy elements for us to identify with and then when Jerry falls into the abyss we can not help but justify it based on the life story that we learn from the narrative presented by Satrapi. Reynolds gives a great performance that, if I may say so, is the one that gives all the strength to the film, absolutely overshadowing the rest of the actors.
Un comentario a parte es el uso de la simbología arquetípica del bien y el mal representados por sus mascotas, el perro bueno y el gato malo, aunque es una analogía tópica representa justo a otros elementos (como las mariposas revoloteando) guiños psicológicos al espectador.
An aside comment is the use of the archetypal symbolism of good and evil represented by their pets, the good dog and the bad cat, although it is a cliché analogy represents just other elements (such as butterflies fluttering) psychological winks to the viewer.
En fin, creo que fue un muy buen hallazgo, no diré que se trata de una pieza maestra pero sin duda vale la pena verla, Así que si no tienes afán y quieres algo interesante para mirar esta cinta es una muy buena opción.
Anyway, I think it was a very good find, I will not say that this is a masterpiece but certainly worth seeing, so if you have no desire and want something interesting to watch this tape is a very good choice.
