1984 by George Orwell predicted the future

What’s an old book or movie that accurately predicted the future?

Books and movies have a way of predicting the future accurately or not. Some movies or books that were produced or written back in the days have envisioned the way the future would look like. There are so many movies that have in one way or the other employed tools which is called science fiction in their movies, and in our present-day worlds we get to see how these representations of things have become a manifestation in our present world. Take for instance, the movie that involved Clark Kent used an imitation of technology that enhances speed, light and so on. All that happened in that era somehow has come to pass with Heroes coming up.

Books that I am very familiar with that envisions a society that is totalitarian in nature where the government in Person of "Big Brother" made use of tools that monitored the movement and lifestyle of the People. The Book 1984 by George Orwell was written in 1949, however the dominant themes of these book were propaganda and authoritarianism and the major way that it predicted the future was by means of surveillance, where the government monitors the people so as to call crimes.

This is so relatable in our present world that surveillance has become an issue amongst the people they no longer respect privacy, freedom of speech has been taken to a level where the rights and dignity of people have been trampled upon. Take for instance the modern world is concerned with breach in data privacy. It has come to our knowledge that people's privacy and no longer respected. For instance, in my country Nigeria when the youth are striving to make it, the government has a way of digging into their privacy via their bank statement and so on. Hence, whenever they see huge amount of money that you have worked for, they assume that it was gotten through fraud or stealing.

In essence, just as George Orwell described in 1984 how the government dominated the dystopian Society by using surveillance to monitor the people especially the masses, the government in our present day Society is doing the same thing by using power and greed to oppress the less privilege and the masses from standing up to their rights and privileges.
