My opinion about Pixar and Inside Out 2. / Moja opinia o Pixarze i Inside Out 2.

Pixar has had a difficult time in recent years. Disney treated them like a bunch of novices, imposing unfavorable conditions on them or forcing them to change their policy (e.g. if they had nothing to fill their D+ schedule with, they took Pixar films, thus depriving them of the opportunity to earn money in cinemas). They were already in a bad situation before the pandemic, and this made them even weaker. If these were actually new creators, I could understand it, because every person or band starting / building their reputation has to accept certain inconveniences at the beginning. However, these are experienced creators who, even before the pandemic, showed that they can create a perfect show for people of all ages, even though the target group are small children. I often say on such occasions that it is not an easy art. You have to be very subtle in this aspect so that the child doesn't see something controversial or too shocking. At the same time, you need to add some valuable content and present it as truthfully as possible and, above all, in a way that is understandable to him. The second thing is that the film must be engaging for the child. I read somewhere that 90 minutes is the maximum runtime that creators and children's parents can afford. Remember (he he, it fits the topic) how bored you were at school at the beginning of high school or at the end of primary school. Yes, and younger children get bored even faster.

Pixar, despite a few mishaps, both older and more recent, has created and maintained the reputation of a studio that creates smart, good and universal animated films (not in the same way as Disney's - to be liked by everyone, to make all of them equally understandable, by their morals are flattened and reduced to a minimum). Toy Story (1, 3, 4 - the second part is the worst in my opinion), Wall-E, Inside Out 1, Coco, Soul, Turning Red, Elemental. Each of these films made a great impression on me, and I rated them at least +8/10. And if I saw them again today, I would probably maintain my opinion. And Inside Out 2 joined this distinguished group.

As I said in the title of the text, this will not be a review, because the structure of the film is very simple. So the review would be simple too. This is one of many stories, certainly not once, not twice, not five times, you saw it in various configurations as children, watching TV. However, what distinguishes them from the competition is the fact that they plan their films longer and are not afraid to show complex concepts that children will only understand when they start growing up. And as we all know, life, although simple, is also very complex + it branches out through every important aspect in our lives (e.g. the work we do can be a cause of frustration), other people (their attitudes, goals, characters, relationships with us etc.), + we make it harder for ourselves. Inside Out 2 shows this perfectly.

The initial life of a child (if he or she grows up in relatively good conditions) can be compared to playing at an amusement park and taking drugs every day. They live without stress, everything is nice and there are no problems. Because even if something happens, our parents quickly show up and solve it for us. Everything changes dramatically when our body starts producing hormones. Both inside and outside. Pixar has already shown in Turning Red that they can very credibly show the first menstruation, the first conversation between a mother and her daughter on this topic and the problem of menopause in the grandmother. Even though Inside Out 2 touches on much more issues than intimacy, emerging sexuality, etc., they managed to show it in just as much detail and truth. They used the 90 minutes very well, adding many observations about growing up and previously unknown emotions to the film. Some of them I have already forgotten in almost 35 years of my life. For similar reasons as the heroine of this film and billions of teenagers - because of the shame resulting from the mistakes made, memory and the pace of life / the desire to experience mainly the pleasant moments.

Oh yes, Inside Out 2 is a great vivisection of our problems. We don't even have to be children to get something from this movie. I once read, probably after the premiere of Soul, that Pixar films are distinguished by the fact that they mix simple and more complex plots. Adults, in turn, will recall their own past and will have the opportunity to talk to children and expand on the issues presented in the film. I also liked how Nostalgia was portrayed. I don't know if this was Pixar's intention, but the moral of living in the here and now, not worrying too much about the past or the future (whether in a positive or negative way), is very important. I know this from myself, because for most of my life I lived excessively in the past and then in the future.

I don't know the first part, so I don't know which one is better, but I rate the sequel very positively. My girlfriend liked the first one more, the second one not so much, but she didn't complain. You could say that unlike me, she was moderately satisfied. It's good that such films are made, because even traditional ones can address their own problems from a slightly different perspective. And I'm even more happy that the film will earn more than a billion dollars. A longer cinema window will definitely help this. I rate this movie 8.5/10.

Pixar w ostatnich latach miał trudną sytuację. Disney traktował ich jak bandę nowicjuszy, narzucając im niekorzystne warunki lub zmuszając do zmiany polityki (np. jak nie mieli czym zapchać ramówki na swoim D+, to wzięli filmy Pixara, zabierając im w ten sposób możliwość zarobku w kinach). Już przed pandemią nie mieli dobrej sytuacji, a ta dodatkowo ich osłabiła. Gdyby to faktycznie byli nowi twórcy, mógłbym to zrozumieć, bo każdy człowiek lub zespół zaczynający / budujący swoją renomę, musi się na początku godzić na pewne niedogodności. To są jednak doświadczeni twórcy, którzy jeszcze przed pandemią pokazali, że umieją stworzyć doskonałe show dla ludzi w każdym wieku, mimo że grupą docelową stanowią małe dzieci. Często przy takiej okazji mówię, że nie jest to łatwa sztuka. Trzeba być w tym aspekcie bardzo subtelnym, by dziecko nie zobaczyło czegoś kontrowersyjnego lub nadmiernie wstrząsającego. Jednocześnie trzeba do tego dodać jakieś wartościowe treści i przedstawić je w miarę zgodnie z prawdą i przede wszystkim, w sposób dla niego zrozumiały. Druga sprawa, to film musi być wciągający dla dziecka. Gdzieś czytałem, że 90 minut to maksymalny runtime, na jaki mogą sobie pozwolić twórcy i rodzice dzieci. Przypomnijcie sobie (he he, pasuje do tematu), jak Wam się nudziło w szkole na początku liceum lub pod koniec szkoły podstawowej. No właśnie, a młodsze dzieci nudzą się jeszcze szybciej.

Pixar mimo paru wpadek, zarówno tych starszych jak i świeższych, stworzył i utrzymał renomę studia, które tworzy mądre, dobre i uniwersalne filmy animowane (nie w taki sposób, jak te Disneya - by się wszystkim podobały, by wszystkie były tak samo zrozumiałe, przez co ich morały są spłaszczone i ograniczone do minimum). Toy Story (1, 3, 4 - druga część jest wg mnie najgorsza), Wall-E, Inside Out 1, Coco, Soul, Turning Red, Elemental. Każdy z tych filmów zrobił na mnie bardzo duże wrażenie, a ja oceniłem je na co najmniej +8/10. I gdybym dzisiaj zobaczył je ponownie, to pewnie podtrzymałbym swoją opinię. No i do tego zacnego grona dołączyło Inside Out 2.

Tak jak powiedziałem w tytule tekstu, nie będzie to recenzja, bo struktura filmu jest banalnie prosta. Zatem i recenzja byłaby prosta. Jest to historia jedna z wielu, na pewno nie raz, nie dwa, nie pięć razy, widzieliście to w różnych konfiguracjach jako dzieci, oglądając telewizję. To co jednak odróżnia ich od konkurencji, to fakt że dłużej planują swoje filmy i nie boją się pokazać złożonych koncepcji, które dzieci zrozumieją dopiero jak zaczną dorastać. A jak wszyscy wiemy, życie mimo że jest proste, to jest równocześnie bardzo złożone + dodatkowo rozgałęzia się przez każdy istotny aspekt w naszym życiu (np. praca jaką wykonujemy może być przyczyną frustracji), innych ludzi (ich postawy, cele, charaktery, relacje z nami etc.), + sami je sobie utrudniamy. Inside Out 2 idealnie to pokazuje.

Początkowe życie dziecka (o ile wychowuje się w miarę dobrych warunkach) można porównać do zabawy w wesołym miasteczku i codziennego ćpania narkotyków. Żyją sobie bez stresu, wszystko jest fajne i nie ma problemów. Bo nawet jeżeli coś się stanie, to szybko pojawiają się rodzice i rozwiązują je za nas. Wszystko zmienia się dramatycznie jak nasz organizm zaczyna produkować hormony. Zarówno wewnątrz jak i na zewnątrz. Pixar już w Turning Red pokazał, że umieją bardzo wiarygodnie pokazać pierwszą miesiączkę, pierwszą rozmowę matki z córką na ten temat oraz problem menopauzy u babci. Mimo że Inside Out 2 porusza znacznie więcej kwestii niż intymność, rodzącą się seksualność etc., to udało im się pokazać to równie szczegółowo i prawdziwie. Bardzo dobrze wykorzystali 90 minut, wrzucając do filmu wiele spostrzeżeń dotyczących dorastania i nieznanych dotąd emocji. O niektórych zdążyłem już zapomnieć przez prawie 35 lat mojego życia. Z podobnych powodów, co bohaterka tego filmu i miliardy nastolatków - przez wstyd wynikający z popełnionych błędów, pamięć i tempo życia / chęć przeżywania głównie tych przyjemnych chwil.

Oj tak, Inside Out 2 to świetna wiwisekcja naszych problemów. Nie musimy być nawet dziećmi, by coś wyciągnąć z tego filmu. Kiedyś czytałem, chyba po premierze Soul, że filmy Pixara wyróżnia to, że mieszają proste i bardziej złożone wątki. Ma to sens, bo tak jak moje pokolenie (oraz moich rodziców), chętnie wraca do Alladyna, czy Króla Lwa (lub w przypadku anime - DBZ albo Sailor Moon, co zostało pokazane podczas premiery dwóch filmów SM na Netflix), tak dzieci będą wracały do swoich bajek. Dzięki temu odkryją kolejne warstwy scenariusza, dostrzegając nowe wnioski. Z kolei dorośli, przypomną sobie własną przeszłość oraz będą mieli okazję do porozmawiania z dziećmi i rozwinięcia kwestii, które zostały pokazane w filmie. Podobało mi się też to, jak pokazano Nostalgię. Nie wiem, czy taki był zamiar Pixara, ale morał by żyć "tu i teraz", nie przejmując się nadmiernie przeszłością i przyszłością (nie ważne, czy w pozytywny lub negatywny sposób), jest bardzo ważny. Wiem to choćby po sobie, bo przez większość życia nadmiernie żyłem przeszłością, a potem przyszłością.

Nie znam pierwszej części, więc nie wiem, która jest lepsza, ale sequel oceniam bardzo pozytywnie. Mojej dziewczynie bardziej podobała się pierwsza, druga tak średnio, ale nie narzekała. Można powiedzieć, że w przeciwieństwie do mnie, była umiarkowanie zadowolona. Dobrze że powstają takie filmy, bo nawet dorośli mogą spojrzeć na swoje własne problemy z nieco innej perspektywy. A jeszcze bardziej cieszy mnie fakt, że film zarobi więcej niż miliard dolarów. Dłuższe okienko kinowe na pewno temu pomoże. Oceniam ten film na 8.5/10.
