Hello guys and a happy weekend to you. So I am in for this weeks childhood movie challenge and the movie I have selected of all back then is a Nollywood movie called *ODE ESHI (literally meaning bulletproof). So this movie is in Igbo language although it had subtitle even back then. Produced in the year 2001, the movie centers around the main character Akpi (casted by Nkem Owoh) and his family, friends and community.

Akpi is a traditional worshipper who also was a lay reader in the village catholic church. Akpi had bad intentions towards his younger brothers family and so he poisoned the brother to death. The brothers wife who was now a widow was trying to survive but Akpi made it difficult for her. He refused her access to farm land which she could cultivate and later use to train her kids.

The best friend of Apki found out about the evil ways of Akpi and Akpi killed him using spiritual powers. Akpi however did not stop there. He started using his spiritual powers to kill anybody that would dare to challenge him in his community. His nephew came back from the big city where he does business beacuse if some setbacks and settled in the rural area along side his mum (the widow) and his only sister.

Akpi was using the cover of the church to perpetrate all these evil since no one would actually think that he could do such evil. However, his niece who was a strong christain always had the hunch that her uncle Akpi is evil. Later on when prayer men are invited, Akpi confesses and all his evil deeds before before he died.

The movie is funny if you're not watching it for the first time but you'd be tensed if its your first. I like how Akpi played his role very well in the movie. Even his appearance in the movie was suspicious. I also like the way the christain faith was potrayed in the movie to show Gods supreme power over all things. Initially, I didn't like the movie while growing up because of the wicked and evil things Akpi constantly did but now that I view the movie, I feel comfortable watching it since I understand that a message is being passed.

This movie taught me enough morals such as to be alert knowing that your very own blood could be your end. Not all that glitters is gold. Another moral is to know who to bow to or who you let into your plans and ambitions. Akpi could get a glimpse of someones ambitions from their lips or the mouth of their family member and he usually cut them short. I have learnt from the movie that if I have a plan then I had better executed it and let the result speak for me.

Also, I leant to not be greedy or to envy what my brother or friend has. I really hope you watch the movie. Feel free to check out the CineTv Community for more related contents.
