DC Universe First Chapter: Gods And Monsters
It's been two months to three months since Warner Bros appointed James Gunn and Peter Safran as Co-chairmen and CEOs of the DC Universe. James Gunn and Peter Safran revealed to fans that they plan to reboot the DC Universe and will drop out some cast from the DCEU and keep some for the reboot process. James Gunn revealed the first chapter of the DC Universe which is titled Gods and Monsters. I have written about only one of the projects which is Superman Legacy, but today I will take you down the rest of the project of the new DC Universe.
Superman Legacy
This live-action film has been the talk of the new DC Universe. I made a post about the show and the new Superman and Lois Lane cast five days agolink. The film will be released on July 11 2025 and James Gunn has confirmed he is done writing the film. James Gunn shared a post on Twitter and reviewed the new cast for Superman Legacy. Nathan Fillion will be cast as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.
Supergirl Woman Of Tomorrow
When James Gunn announced that Supergirl was getting her solo live-action film I was excited. Supergirl has been in the shadows for a long time and deserves to share the spotlight like her cousin. The film will feature an origin story of a supergirl and how she adapts to live on Earth. There is yet to be a release date, and the cast is still not confirmed. Looking forward to the film and I hope the writers give us a master spice.
The Brave And The Bold
This will be the first DC Universe live-action film which will feature Batman and Robin together. The version of Robin will be Bruce Wayne's son Damian Wayne. Bruce will try to balance the life of a father and take care of a son he recently found out. Damian Wayne(Robin) was raised by the League of Assassins which is run by his grandfather Ra's Al Ghul and his mother Talia Al Ghul. Damian was taught to be brutal to his opponent, show no mercy, and kill which is not the code of Batman. It's going to be an interesting film and I will love to see the new cast for Batman since Ben Affleck has been dropped from the role.
Lanterns
This detective live-action series will feature two of the famous green lanterns in the DC comics. Hal Jordan and John Stewart will team up together as they uncover ministries and protect the galaxy from threats. I am not sure if Guy Gardner who is played by Nathan Fillion will appear in this series, but it will be nice to have him among the best Green Lantern characters in this upcoming series. The release date and cast have not been released yet, but there are rumours production will commence soon.
The Authority
The Authority are a group of heroes who believe their decision is the best for the world. They get the job done even at the cost of people's lives and have no remorse for their actions. The Authority will appear in the post-credit scene of Superman Legacy before their live-action film is released. The Authority just sounds like Amanda Waller's Suicide Squad, but I will give it the benefit of the doubt and check it out when it hits the cinema.
Creature Commandos
This is the first project of DC and an animated series. They are a group of superhumans used by an organization in World War 2. The animation is scheduled to be released in 2024, but no date has been confirmed yet. James Gunn is done writing the show, and there are reports he has already begun production. The voice actors are still yet to be reviewed, but from what I have gathered James Gunn wants the voice actors to be the same as live-action actors, because there are plans for a live-action film in the future.
Waller
Waller is an upcoming live-action series. The show will focus on Amanda Waller played by Viola Davis as she teams up with members of project butterfly. Amanda Waller is one of my favourite characters from DC comic books, she is ruthless and makes repulsive decisions to get the job done. Viola Davis was born for the role, she is the perfect live-action Amadan Waller I have seen so far, and I am excited to see her coming back to take the role once again. There is no release date for the series, but screenwriting and production are already taking place.
Paradise Lost
This live-action series is a prequel to Wonder Woman. Paradise Lost is a story about the history of the Amazon, and how they came into existence before the birth of Wonder Woman. The cast of the show is yet to be released, but I am sure we will be seeing some familiar faces from the Wonder Woman film. The release date has not been confirmed and I am not sure if the writers have started writing the scripts, probably by next year more updates will be shared by James Gunn.
Swamp Thing
Swamp Thing is the last project for the first chapter of Gods and Monsters. Swamp Thing will be different from other stories and it's expected to be a horror film. The writers will dive into the origin of the Swamp monster and give an epic view of the monster that guards the swap. The release date and cast are still unknown, but I guess it will be released in 2026 or 2027.
