Teen Titans: The Judas Contract Review
Today I watched a DC Universe animated movie called Teen Titans: The Judas Contract. The movie was released in 2017, directed by Sam Liu. If you know the DC Universe then you know no one comes close to them when it comes to animated movies or series except Japanese anime which by the way their directors are doing an amazing job. I am a big fan of DC Universe's works, and I can say I have almost watched all their TV shows, movies, and animation projects.
Teen Titans: The Judas Contract focus on the young heroes of the Justice League and while some were taking in my Nightwing and Starfire to join the family. The team members are Robin( Damian Wayne), Raven, Beast Boy, Blue Beetle, and Tera. They all possess unique abilities and incredible fighting styles, which they use for good to protect their City from Villans.
The story focuses on the team being hunted down by Deathstroke who was hired by the main villain of the movie Brother Blood. Brother Blood plans to absorb the powers of all members of Teen Titans' with his machine to become godlike and take over the City. Deathstroke job was to capture all members of the Titans. Deathstroke sent Tera as a spy into the Teen Titans to watch their every move and sabotage the team.
Tera was a hard-headed girl with the ability to move rocks around her. Tera was not the talking type and declined any attempt by the team for a group hangout. Robin( Damian Wayne) was very observant and noticed there was something up with her. One night he tracked her down, but Tera's powers gave her the edge because she could feel vibration in the ground. Tera cut Robin off guard, and while both were talking Deathstroke appeared and got into a fight with Robin. Tera's assistance help Deathstroke to successfully kidnap Robin.
The Titans assumed Robin was ok after Nightwing got a text from Robin stating he was flying solo which no one took as a surprise because had a strict attitude and liked doing things alone. The Titans organized a surprise party for Tera showing they all care for her. Tera seeing this started to get mixed feelings if the job Deathstroke sent her to do was worth it at the end.
Deathstroke took his plan into action and started kidnapping the Titans one by one. Nightwing was the last of his team reaming, and Deathstroke came for him openly, both got into a heated fight which lasted than Deathstroke aspected. Deathstroke became tired and shot Nightwing in the chest and the titan leader fail into a lake.
Brother Blood had all the Titans strapped to his machine ready to take their powers. Since Deathstroke failed to bring Nightwing he offered Tera instead to Brother Blood. Brother Blood began the process of taking the Titan's powers as the machine started running Nightwing took off his disguise and fought his way to release his team. The Machine was destroyed but it was too late as Brother Blood already had a little bit of the Titan's powers.
The Titans assemble and attacked Brother Blood, but he was too strong for the heroes to handle. Tera finally woke up, and in rage, she went after Deathstroke and crushed Brother Blood on her way, which created an opening for the Titans to attack. The Titans were able to take down Brother Blood, with Raven casting a spell to remove the powers he absorb, and Brother Blood was back to his original self but weaker. Tera's rage cost the cave to collapse, but she saved beast boy but refused to go with the Titans, and the rocks came down on her. The movie was top-notch, and I will give it a 9 out of 10. The movie is available on HBO Max. So this is where I say goodbye. Thanks for stopping by, and see you soon.
