The Dawn of a New DCU Era Under James Gunn
Good day, everyone, and welcome to my blog. So today, I am going to be writing about the recent development of the DCU under James Gunn, who is the CEO of DCU Studios. Last year I remember sharing about the new phase James Gunn has decided to start with the DCU project and how he has scrapped some actors and actresses from their row in the DCEU and has put in new actors and actresses in the DCU. James Gunn has made it clear that it was going to be a reboot of the DC universe which is why he had to drop some actors and actresses from their original roster in the DCEU.
James Gunn has kicked off the first project of the DCU, which is now airing on some platforms. The title of this animation is called Creatures Commandos which has been an incredible animation so far since it got released earlier in December. James Gunn has said that he wants everything to be linked except the DCU Elseworlds projects like The Batman, Penguin, and Joker. Creatures Commandos was the first project of the DCU's first chapter, which is titled “Gods and Monsters,” which I wrote about in a post last year.
The second project of the DCU is the Superman movie which will be released in July this year. The first trailer of the movie has been released, and I think it's decent. I will want to see more because there will be another trailer later this year. James Gunn kept his word as he said there won't be an origin story for this Superman movie. I agreed with him because it is tiring to watch Krypton being destroyed over and over again in a Superman reboot movie, so it is nice to get something different, and also the same will follow with the Batman movie.
When the Superman movie trailer was released there were a lot of opinions about it, some good and others not so good. The only problem I have with everything about the new DCU Superman is just the suit because I am not a big fan of having the trunks back on the suit, but aside from that I am okay with the casting and everything I have seen so far and I would differently be in the cinema this time to watch the movie when it premieres in July this year.
There are still some DC fans who are not okay with everything about the reboot and Zack Snyder's verse being thrown away by Warner Bros but that has happened and should be put to the past to give room for James Gunn's new DCU project which from the way I see it will do well in box office, but only if the DC fans are ready to support it and not just by coming online to say a few words but going to the cinema, buying tickets to see the movie was it gets released in July.
The new movie that will be released after Superman will be his cousin Supergirl, which is titled “Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow”. It will be nice to see Superman's cousin get her live-action movie, and I can't wait to see what James Gunn has installed for DC fans. It is going to be a good year for DCU and I just hope the fans support this project because it has to succeed and get the spotlight away from Marvel for once this time.
