CineTV Contest: Colmillo Blanco
Cuando era pequeña solía ver muchas películas en la televisión de señal abierta de mi país, pero como amante de los o animales que soy siempre las que abordaban este tema eran de mis favoritas, no se cuentos años tenía cuando vi por primera vez Colmillo Blanco, pero me gusta tanto que incluso hace pocos días la vi de nuevo, se encuentra en Disney + , la cinta es del año 1991 así que posiblemente sea fácil de ver en cualquier servicio online. La película se basa en un novela y tiene la gran actuación de Ethan Hawke quien desde joven se notaba que tenía un talento enorme para la actuación de género dramático y es uno de mis actores favoritos.
When I was little I used to watch a lot of movies on free-to-air television in my country, but as an animal lover, the ones that addressed this topic were always my favorites. I don't know how old I was when I saw White Fang for the first time. but I like it so much that even a few days ago I saw it again, it is on Disney +, the film is from 1991 so it is possibly easy to see on any online service. The film is based on a novel and has a great performance by Ethan Hawke who, from a young age, had an enormous talent for acting in the dramatic genre and is one of my favorite actors.
La película narra la historia de Jack un joven que viaja un lugar muy recóndito de Alaska para reclamar la herencia de su padre quien era minero del oro, pero claramente la película se enfoca también en el un lobo mestizo con quien se encuentra. El asunto es que Jack busca la ayuda de un amigo de su padre para ir a la mina de su difunto padre y volver a intentar conseguir oro allí, en el proceso conoce un lobo mitad perro que había quedado huérfano y fue rescatado por unos nativos. Pero el problema es que en el pueblo una pandilla de hombres por medio de trampas se apoderan del lobo para meterlo en las peleas clandestinas de perros y ganar dinero en apuestas. Jack más adelante rescata al lobo estando este muy mal herido por las peleas.
The film tells the story of Jack, a young man who travels to a very remote part of Alaska to claim the inheritance of his father who was a gold miner, but clearly the film also focuses on the mongrel wolf he encounters. The thing is that Jack seeks the help of a friend of his father to go to his late father's mine and try to get gold there again, in the process he meets a half-dog wolf who had been orphaned and was rescued by some natives. But the problem is that in the town a gang of men use traps to seize the wolf to put it in clandestine dog fights and win money in bets. Jack later rescues the wolf while it is very badly injured from the fights.
A mi me parece hermoso ver el desarrollo de la relación de Jack con Colmillo Blanco, porque este es un lobo mestizo que ha sido usado y maltrato por los humanos, es lo más lógico que un animal salvaje no confíe en los humanos y más aún después de su terrible experiencia. Pero el joven Jack parece tener una conexión especial con el animal. La relación va creciendo poco a poco y el lobo aún cuando sigue conservando su instinto salvaje permite ser domesticado y se convierte en su mejor compañero demostrando que la inteligencia y lealtad de los lobos es increíble, esto es algo que no sucede tan rápido e incluso en el inicio de la película se muestra como uno de los señores que estaba ayudando a Jack muere por un ataque de lobos salvajes. Así que en ningún momento la película muestra como buena idea la domesticación de los lobos, sino como una excepción a la regla, haciendo énfasis sobre todo en que Colmillo Blanco es una cruza de lobo con perro.
It seems beautiful to me to see the development of Jack's relationship with White Fang, because this is a half-breed wolf that has been used and mistreated by humans, it is the most logical thing for a wild animal not to trust humans and even more so after of his terrible experience. But young Jack seems to have a special connection with the animal. The relationship grows little by little and the wolf, even though it continues to retain its wild instinct, allows itself to be domesticated and becomes its best companion, demonstrating that the intelligence and loyalty of wolves is incredible, this is something that does not happen so quickly and even in The beginning of the film shows how one of the gentlemen who was helping Jack dies from an attack by wild wolves. So at no point does the film show the domestication of wolves as a good idea, but rather as an exception to the rule, emphasizing above all that White Fang is a cross between a wolf and a dog.
La parte más divertida de la película es sin duda cuando la banda de bandidos se entera donde queda la cabaña de Jack y decide ir a cobrar venganza por lo del lobo y también robarle el oro, ellos intentan prenderle fuego a la cabaña con ellos adentro pero la astucia e inteligencia de Jack y su amigo además de Colmillo Blanco le dan su merecido a los malhechores.
The funniest part of the movie is without a doubt when the band of bandits find out where Jack's cabin is and decide to go get revenge for the wolf and also steal his gold. They try to set fire to the cabin with them inside but The cunning and intelligence of Jack and his friend as well as White Fang give the evildoers what they deserve.
La parte más emotiva y que me hace llorar es el final. Porque Jack consigue oro y por eso su amigo se marcha con su mujer a disfrutar de su dinero. Se supone que Jack también debería marcharse, de hecho el hace que Colmillo Blanco se aleje para poder irse pero luego cuando estaba apunto de irse decide quedarse y vivir en la cabaña, al principio el animal no regresa pero un día aparece y es un encuentro muy hermoso , demostrando que el animal tenía la memoria intacta y no podía olvidar al humano que se había convertido en su mejor amigo.
The most emotional part that makes me cry is the ending. Because Jack gets gold and that's why his friend goes with his wife to enjoy his money. Jack is supposed to leave too, in fact he makes White Fang walk away so he can leave but then when he was about to leave he decides to stay and live in the cabin, at first the animal does not return but one day he appears and it is a very beautiful, showing that the animal had its memory intact and could not forget the human who had become its best friend.
Muchas películas que muestra animales salvajes lo hacen desde la idealización, sin embargo, en este caso a mi me pareció algo muy fluido, pues Colmillo Blanco aunque provenía de un entorno salvaje había quedado huérfano y por lo tanto empezó a ver humanos desde pequeño, además por sus vemos corría la sangre de un perro, así que esto le ayudaría a ser un poco más fácil de domesticar, no se debería en cualquier caso tratar de domesticar un animal salvaje si se es un joven ingenuo sin mayor conocimiento del comportamiento de los animales como el protagonista. Pero también está película nos hace comprender la circunstancias favorables a ese hecho extraordinario sin que parezca mera ficción y por eso me encanta esta película.

In any case, you should not try to domesticate a wild animal if you are a naive young person without much knowledge of animal behavior. like the protagonist. But this film also makes us understand the circumstances favorable to this extraordinary event without it seeming like mere fiction and that is why I love this film.
