Confounding Compounding: A financial growth that defies all logic
This year, my birthday had been completely different. Not only did I receive lots of gifts and compliments, but I also watch the universe try to educate me on things that were originally alienated from me.

One such thing is the issue of money. I know you already know that I talk about money almost every day of my life on my blog so it might surprise you that I claimed this is something that alienates me.
No, I'm not referring to the usual make money, keep money, and invest money. The universe tried to show the easy way out and then laid down the consequences of trying to be in a hurry and boycotting the right route just to get to the top using different movie recommendations on Netflix.
The truth is I made Netflix understand my algorithm when I first logged in and used the search button to search for money. The original plan was to get movies around money that may probably blur the fictional part of it and give me an insight into how other people make their money, how they keep it, and how they invest some of that and still be able to take care of their family.
I had no idea fate had other plans for me. Netflix took it upon themselves to recommend other money-related movies from then on, and what I saw was not only surprising, it made me slow down with the race to wealth building.
I discovered not everything is what it seems and no matter what happens, I shouldn't be pushed to wanting more and trying to game nature. Netflix gave me movies about people who game nature and tried to manifest wealth too quickly.
They did not want to take the narrow road of waiting on compounding to do her work. They wanted it here and now and they did get it. But it came with a lot of consequences compared to if they had chosen the long route to wealth. They ended up with bloodied lifestyles where they no longer sleep well at night nor have any form of peace of mind.
So from the first of June, 2023, I have seen a series of financial movies and it has changed the way I think about wealth building. It did not take away the vital part that I already knew. It only built upon it, making the foundation solid and never wavering no matter the storms of life.
What I am saying, in essence, is that I got to understand why a lot of blogs keep saying none of us could fathom how long Warren Buffett had to wait before his investment portfolio made him one of the richest investors of all time. He waited for a long, long time, in short, Morgan says, and I quote;
$81.5 billion of Warren Buffett's $84.5 net worth came after his 65th birthday. Our minds are not built to handle such absurdities. The Psychology of Money, Chapter Four (4)
As you can see, Buffet had to wait for so long before he finally made it in life as we say in my native tongue. But today, we see a lot of people especially the younger generation fighting to get to the top too quickly and thereby doing the most heinous things to make sure it happens. Some try to game the system, others rob and engage in a lot more vices that can lead to the door of riches quickly.
As much as they get there as soon as possible, they don't seem to get the desired peace of mind. And it's almost as though money doesn't bring happiness, whereas money does bring happiness. I came to understand that the people who claim not to be happy even after amassing so much money are probably those who were in too much of a hurry to get there.

They hadn't taken the time to enjoy the process, make mistakes, learn from them, and build gradually and steadily. The fact that they rushed into it all, meant they thought by having all the money in the world, their happiness will be guaranteed. What they got was restlessness, always looking over their shoulders and paying people off to keep quiet because of the things they did that they can't openly own up to.
I have said too much but I'll like to share some of the movies that solidified my resolute to hang in there and to understand that the 5,10,15- 30 years that we have been asked to wait to grow our money isn't absurd, it's the best way to never be wrong.
Maybe, you'll have the chance to watch them, maybe you have seen them. But all of them are great to watch, I promise you. When you grasp your popcorn, grab a notepad too, because your life is about to be changed. It could change positively or negatively depending on the angle you decided to see the lessons. The best part is you have a choice to decide which part to take when you get a sneak peek into the world of money, fame, and wealth.
In no particular order, let's start with Ijakumo: The Born Again Stripper. The title might deceive you, but it's a great watch. You see understand how the life of a young man changes when he decides to use Church as a front to make money but his financial misfortune started the day he tried to kill his girlfriend to keep her out of the picture as his wealth-building journey starts. It did take time before everything came crumbling down, but, it's always said, "99 days for the thief, one day for the owner of the farm". This is a movie about money, fame, wealth, betrayal, unforgiveness, and revenge.
The next one is Good Girls. Although this movie was canceled and I did not have the chance to see the end of everything and the consequences of the girl's actions, it was a great watch. You will find each episode making you reach out for more, and you may not be able to sleep well until you see it through. Yes, it's that addicting because at every point when you think you have arrived at the lesson, something new comes up, and you are left hanging by a thread. Don't say I did not warn you.
Trust me, I have holding back the urge of saying more than enough for this movie. I have a feeling I can do 365 days of posts around this series alone. It has lots and lots of lessons, I am not mincing words. You can never know what you will do for money until life pushes you to the wall. Even at that I still had to caution myself that there is an alternative to everything and no matter how hard life pushes us, we should trust the process and find those alternatives even though they are bound to be long, tiring routes.
Finally, last but not least on my inexhaustive list is Glamour Girls. Just like everything I said before, this movie shows you how fast you can go to make money and how fast it can take for you to crash if you do not use your number six (common sense). You will also learn that it's an "all for man for himself" world and that the next person may not necessarily have your interests at heart. So be careful when you are dealing with people, especially when money comes into the equation. Of course, it is said that "money does not change people, it reveals them", so you may not truly know a person's character until a large sum of money comes into the picture
I would have loved to give you more, but time eludes me, as I am racing to make this post before the clock strikes 12, so take these few recommendations and enjoy your streaming. If you are watching from Netflix, they may use your algorithm and recommend more of these. But no matter what happens, do not forget that it takes time to build wealth, trying to get there too soon might have dire consequences as you may not be thinking clearly. So, stay woke, hustle, build, and become wealthy, you have what it takes and I believe in you. Cheers.
