Citizen X, a film is a must-see.

Based on the hunt for and discovery of one of the most prolific serial killers in history - Andrei Chikatilo, known as the "Butcher of Rostov" - this film delves deep into darkness.
Stylistically, director Chris Gerolmo builds ominous tension through dreary Soviet-era cinematography.
The dreary winter backdrops seem almost like a character in themselves. Performances are also outstanding, particularly Stephen Rea brilliantly portraying dogged investigator Viktor Burakov.

What struck me most was how the film portrayed the sheer evil and inhumanity of Chikatilo's actions, while also showing glimmers of humanity in the investigators driven to stop him.
It's a cat and mouse story that keeps you hooked until the harrowing climax.
"Citizen X" brings an unvarnished look at the real cost of such heinous crimes. But it also shines a light on courageous men who tapped into their own humanity to triumph over monstrous inhumanity.

While quite disturbing, it left me thinking long about man's capacity for both darkness and light.
For any fan of true crime or psychological thrillers, this film is a must-see.
