This is a science fiction/psychological thriller film directed by Barry Levinson. Based on the novel of the same name by Michael Crichton, the story focuses on a group of scientists who are summoned to investigate a mysterious object found at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.
The plot begins when Dr. Norman Goodman, played by Dustin Hoffman, is recruited for a secret government project.
Joining him are three other experts: psychologist Dr. Beth Halperin (Sharon Stone), mathematician Dr. Ted Fielding (Samuel L. Jackson) and biologist Dr. Harold ‘Harry’ Adams (Queen Latifah).
Together, they are sent to an undersea station where a sphere has been discovered in a sunken spacecraft dating back more than 300 years.

As the group begins to investigate the sphere, they discover that it has the ability to materialise people's deepest fears and desires.
As they interact with the sphere, the team members begin to experience strange and frightening phenomena, causing tension and distrust between them.
The sphere becomes a mirror of their own insecurities and traumas, leading to the appearance of physical manifestations of their fears.
As the story progresses, the characters become trapped in a cycle of paranoia and despair, facing their own inner demons.

The tension peaks when they realise that the only way to stop the horrors they have unleashed is to confront their own traumas and work together to deactivate the sphere.
‘Sphere is a film that combines elements of science fiction with deep psychological analysis, offering a reflection on human nature and the fears we all carry within us.

I'm not a fan of such deep sci-fi tropes but you gave a wonderful review.

Must be thrilling. With Samuel L Jackson in it, I reckon it's a really good one. Nice reviewed, by the way.
