"Storm Boy", recommended for family viewing

Beautiful photography, excellent performances and a winning ecological message win our hearts with this melancholic story about an Australian boy and his friendship with a pelican.

Told in flashback, "Storm Boy" begins with present-day grandfather Michael Kinley (Rush) telling his granddaughter Madeline (Morgana Davis) the story of his childhood.

It is the eve of his late daughter's birthday, and moments before the mining company he and his son-in-law are part of make a decision that threatens the ecosystem and way of life in the Pilbara region.

Based on the acclaimed book of the same name by Colin Thiele and adapted into a screenplay by Justin Monjo and directed by Shawn Seet, this Australian film is recommended for family viewing.
