True Grit, revenge in the wild west

In this Wild West story, we follow the brave and determined Mattie Ross, a young woman determined to avenge the death of her father by hiring a tough and stubborn sheriff named Rooster Cogburn to help her capture the killer Tom Chaney.

In True Grit, the plot unfolds with a mix of bravery, wit and humour, as Mattie, Rooster and a Texas Ranger named LaBoeuf embark on a dangerous chase through hostile territory and face challenges that will test their true character.

The film received 10 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director and acting for Jeff Bridges and Hailee Steinfeld.

Although it did not take home the top prize, True Grit won two Oscars, for Best Cinematography and Best Sound Mixing, in recognition of its exceptional technical craftsmanship.

Steinfeld's extraordinary performance as the resilient young heroine Mattie Ross also earned her a BAFTA award for Best Supporting Actress.

Commercially, True Grit was a huge success, grossing over $250 million worldwide on a budget of $38 million.
