Synopsis
Renfield, le fidèle assistant de Dracula, ou plutôt son familier, se pose des questions sur son statut. L'immortalité c'est bien, mais à quel prix ... Doit-il ou non servir aveuglément son maître...
Distribution
Étonnamment ce n'est pas vraiment Nicolas Cage qui tiendra le premier rôle dans ce film, et sa prothèse dentaire est limite caricaturale, mais il n'en est pas moins que je l'apprécie aussi dans ce rôle, l'exubérance lui va bien.
Mon avis
C'est encore un film sur Dracula ? Un truc qui fait peur "toussa, toussa"?
Non, et comme le dit si bien le titre, le héros ici c'est Renfield.
Vous aurez droit à des tas de scènes gores, mais aussi à des réflexions sur le bien et le mal, des combats plutôt originaux, et comme dans fight-Club des meetings d'anonymes qui veulent s'en sortir 😆.
On reconnaitra un analyse de la société actuelle également à travers les yeux du réalisateur qui y va d'un bon ton de cynisme.
J'ai apprécié le film, et Nicolas Cage aussi puisqu'il rêvait d'incarner Dracula, surtout après "Embrasse-moi Vampire" 😅
Pour ce qui est de Renfield, c'est assez bien trouvé comme scénario de voir ce monde depuis les yeux du familier, de cette codépendance qui les force à obéir sans trop se poser de questions, puisqu'il en va de leur survie, ce n'est pas comme s'ils avaient vraiment le choix, ou pas, mais je ne peux vous en dire plus sans spoiler...
Ils déclarent ce film comme horreur, personnellement, je le rangerait plutôt en comédie-gore.
