(ESP-ENG) 60 Minutes - Movie Review!
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
Currently there are many titles out there that are already seeing the light of day digitally and that are certainly bigger names but there are times when you just want to watch one of those movies that you call "just another one of the bunch" just to pass the time and 60 Minutes is ideal for that. Usually pure action movies where fighting and martial arts are the main ingredient tend to be incredibly entertaining, depending on the quality of the actors and the scenes they can provide, of course. This German film of less than an hour and a half is the perfect combination of good fights and quite acceptable entertainment, the one I was talking about before.
Netflix from time to time launches these projects to see how they appeal to people, I guess they will have a budget with which they will see what they can do. I already tell you that 60 Minutes is not a film with special effects or big productions or staging, it is a pretty basic one but it complies with what you expect from this type of stories. It doesn't have a very intricate plot either, it's a very linear one. But well, let's go and talk a little about this countdown of a man desperate to get to a very special place.
We have Octavio (Emilio Sakraya), a mixed martial arts fighter who seeks to make a living in a ring or inside a cage fight. It happens that in the gym where he is training things are not going well economically so the fights that arise will always be important. Knowing this, Octa's next fight is extremely important, it will define the future of everyone around him, so winning it is almost an obligation. At the same time this fighter has a life, more specifically a daughter for whom he would do everything in his power and by coincidences of life the same day of this fight is the birthday of the little girl.
Faced with the possibility of not being able to get home in time to share with his daughter, Octavio decides to abandon the fight at the last minute and run home. What happens then? - Well, behind this fight there are some dark and murky interests that will make Octavio's way to his birthday a real nightmare, so he will have to overcome obstacles to get there on time. This is where the story begins, one with action from beginning to end that will keep you attentive in front of the screen. It is a countdown that is full of adrenaline, tension and expectation.
As I said it is a very simple plot and nothing complicated to understand, the only thing you have to know is that the protagonist has to get from point A or point B in a certain time but on the way there will be some people who will try to prevent it. We are facing a chase which lasts almost the entire film which gives a sense of perennial urgency which is very contagious, one lives that anxiety in first person of having to get to point B as soon as possible. As simple as it may seem, it is a formula that works because it entertains, there is always action, a fight, a plot twist that you didn't see coming, several things happen that keep your attention.
The other thing to mention is the sheer action. The scenes are not elaborate beyond the fighting ability of the actors, that is what will determine how good the result will be for the eye. It must be said that the main actor fights well, he knows how to move and the sequences of the fights in camera are good and fluid, it also helps that the supporting actors give it quality and hatred, because yes, the bad guys of the game are quite detestable characters. In the end it's a race through Berlin where we'll see action in different locations and situations; it never slows down. It's cool that the engine of everything is the daughter because this makes you empathize more with Octavio and that feeling gives him an extra power that when you think he can't give another blow he ends up leaving 3 more men on the floor.
There is no acting or acting to measure beyond the fights and in that I think this film does not disappoint. It's not the best you'll ever see but it's more than ok to pass the time, at least I enjoyed it more than many films out there that have more names. I give it a 7/10, the truth is you can watch it without problems and I feel it doesn't disappoint, it's everything you expect from this movie. It's on Netflix and as I said it lasts less than an hour and a half. I leave you the trailer below.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos vemos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
¡A hug to everyone, see you next time!
