(ESP-ENG) Amber Alert || The desperation of a kidnapping - Movie Review!
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
The desperation that can come from going through a situation, calling for help and being labeled as just another one of them, I would believe, from total ignorance, that it is one of the greatest feelings of helplessness that anyone can perceive. This is more or less what Amber Alert is all about. The Amber Alert is a real protocol that exists in the United States and several other countries, which is a rapid response to the possibility of an abduction of a minor. It is named Amber after an abducted child, Amber Hagerman, who was sadly found lifeless. This film navigates the anguish of the protagonists in the face of the reality of being involved in a possible abduction.
This begins with Jaq (Hayden Panettiere) and Shane (Tyler James Williams). She is a person who needs to be somewhere punctual and he is a cab or Uber driver who against his will decides to make one last trip to give Jaq a ride. The thing is that while they are on their way to their destination they receive the Amber Alert on their phones reporting the kidnapping of a girl about 6 years old. These alerts are replicated everywhere, any device that is able to broadcast a message will get there. The plot gets interesting when suddenly this couple visualizes the possible car as it matches the description that appears in the alert.
From here begins a chase, a kind of cat and mouse game to try not to lose the trail of this possible kidnapper while trying to convince the police that they are chasing the real culprit of everything. The film in terms of plot is everything you imagine, the most linear of them all, without surprises or many twists in the story. It is a short film, it does not reach an hour and a half, hence they do not delve much into the plot, it is very direct, at all times I think you will know what is going to happen and what will be the end. This makes it bad and insufferable? - No, because the intrigue, urgency and even suspense factor is present which helps to pass the time.
I think a lot of people are used to watching movies that are two hours or even longer and expect their plot to be convoluted with 7 twists and turns in half an hour, so these unusually short films are a bit underrated; the straight to the point films have to come back. But not everything is so good, I saw a couple of script mistakes in this story that when you notice them you automatically think about the mistake and how much that action or decision can condition the development of the story. They are those obvious things that one wonders, why do they do them?
As for the characters, each one has his or her own motives for not giving up the “fight” to pursue this kidnapper and rescue the girl. They are personal motives that are made public in a conversation they have, it is precisely at that moment when the film enters an introspective moment that always works to give more depth to the cause and give more strength to the characters. The performances are pretty average, I don't consider them bad but they are not going to get an Oscar either. Hayden quite a bit better, but by far better than Tyler.
Overall it's a good time movie, I honestly thought I might get bored but no, don't expect high quality cinema either but it's a typical Sunday afternoon movie, the generic movie of a lifetime. It has suspense and a decent handling of expectation. I give it a 6/10. As I said it's less than an hour and a half long. I'll leave the trailer here.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos vemos en la próxima!
